Women's eye contact in public

I always make note of the general fashion in which women make eye-contact on the street in the different countries I go. Here are my findings from the four countries I've been to. Please comment with your findings from countries/regions you've been that I haven't mentioned and/or give your own account of ones I have.

Spanish women(Barcelona): Will return any glances you give them, sometimes with a smile.

English women(Liverpool): Will usually look at you, then look down, but occasionally look back again.

Irish women(Dublin): Will sometimes meet eyes with you, but then almost always look down until you pass them

American women(New York): Will unconditionally avoid eye-contact at all costs, usually with a wretched look on their face.

How true! American women avoid eye contact with men at all costs! If you do make eye contact with them, they immediately look away. Other guys I know, have said the same thing. This occurs anywhere in public places, like bookstores, grocery stores, shopping malls and health clubs.

I have been to Mexico and the women there did seem more approachable. I have also been to Canada and the women there are just like American women, very standoffish and anti-social.

How are you supposed to approach women in America, when they have that look on their face that says, "don't talk to me, you jerk."

An American Woman not making eye contact with you is basically her not even acknowledging your existence. If she does make eye contact with you it's always a dirty look or the look like you are from another planet. Believe me. This has happened to me numerous times and still does to this day. Amazingly enough, whenever I travel overseas these dirty looks are extremely rare. Maybe from immigration and customs officials but that is universally understandable.

"Don't talk to me, you jerk."

Fine. This jerk will get on a plane and go talk to women elsewhere.

I find that American women will look in the opposite direction when passing me without making any eye contact AT ALL. In addition, only a select few will return a hi or hello and even that is forced.

This is part of the overall paranoia American women have about men. Feminism drills it into them that men are potential rapists or abusers and this seeps into the psyche of the women who are on "creepy guy" alert at all times.

I also notice that attractive women are almost ALWAYS in the company of a man. They find it difficult to function without someone to buffer them from men unknown to them.

This society is done; stick a fork in it!

ditto to that dudes. i am tired of it myself here in westwood california. in fact they are like this every where american women. DON'T want to be approached by men in public for fear of being seen as a whore along with other factors such as paranoia and so forth.

Women from Latin America

they LOVE to give eye contact. it was amazing and so comfortable to actually get eyes with women including guys i did not know. they also are welcoming as well.

American society is the same as american women

the men don't give eyee contact either in public. i am not saying i am gay. its just a gender thing with male and female that makes it noticeable. if the men chose to look and notice how dysfunctional the women are.

That's all part of the culture shock of travelling to other countries. We are so used to being ignored and demonized here at home that when we travel out of the country we have to make adjustments because "we're not in Kansas anymore". This includes getting over the fact that if you say "hello" to a foreign woman your chances of getting a dirty look or nasty comment are slim to none. The "bitch shield" on women pretty much exists in North America and to some extent, the west.

lol .. I was so used to American women being somewhat paranoid of strange men I was surprised today by this little blonde baby chatting me up in the elevator on the way to the gym I work out at, Equinox.

She had gotten into the elevator in the garage and I jumped in, and the elevator took us down to the gym.

When the elevator went up to ground level (the gym), told her "After me" and she went a long and I admired her pert ass and we checked in.

After an hour, the gym closed and went to the elevator and what do you know, she was in it and said thanks after she made efforts to stop the door closing.

She asked me "How was it.?" Was kinda surprised and taken aback -- Never heard an American woman ever ask that, and one I didn't know.

Told her it was great and how her workout was, then talked about the weather. When we reached the garage, she said have a great weekend, and I said likewise.

Now, here is the thing with American women. Now, she was cute, blonde, blue eyes, and a sweet tight ass like marble.

Was she being polite and making talk ? Was she interested ? That I believe is the major crux with American women- they don't show overt signals if they like you, and it's very easy to get confused and not know what's up with them.

They definitely don't know how to flirt and make a guy know they are interested- whether this is an issue of pride for women not wanting to be seen as going after a guy, or something else is hard to tell.

With foreign women, the signals and body language and eye contact make it clear to men if they're interested - whether it's a look in the eye, the voice, a laugh etc

With American women, they want you to read their mind.

Hmm.. I know exactly what you're saying in regards to anglo women. For example, I was sitting at a bus stop last week and a girl around my age sat beside me, asked me where I was going and began making casual conversation. I completely found myself asking "Was she being polite and making talk?, Was she interested?"; If not, Why else would she want to talk to me?. To make it even more confusing, in a Macdonalds on friday night, there were countless empty places to sit yet a woman in her thirties sat right at my table and began making conversation. The situation and her "signals and body language and eye contact" seemed identical to the time when I lost my virginity. But it turns out she was married and had a young son.

As for with foreign women, Spanish women seem incredibly flirtatious. But does that mean they are necessarily attracted? Or is it more that because they don't give off bad signals, which by not doing so is the only way anglo women know how to show interest, we interpret it as flirting?

Very confusing altogether..

How true! American women expect you to read their minds! WTF?

I mean, my God, how in the hell is a guy supposed to know if an American women is interested in him or not, if the woman does not show any signs of interest?

Dating expert Don Steele has said, in the dating game, "It is the woman's responsibility to signal her interest in a man by flirting." Then he says, "after the woman has shown interest in the man, it's the man's responsibility to initiate a conversation with the woman."

The thing is, in America, it never get's to the point where women flirt with men ................. women in the US simply IGNORE men!

It's funny, in America men feel invisable to women ......... women simply ignore men and act like men don't exist. What a great place to live if your a man trying to meet women! :D

In the US, women have a "paranoid vibe" about them. Any man they walk past while out in public, maybe a potential murder or rapist!

I have noticed the same thing, good looking women in America almost ALWAYS have a man with them. I find this true when I am at the gym, bookstore, grocery strore, shopping mall, at the beach and anywhere else in public.

I believe Sexter was right when he said, in America, 90% of good looking women have boyfriends.

She probably thought you were a current or former professional athlete who has millions. I am 6'4" and 250 and ripped and women sometimes chat me up only to ignore me after I give the wrong response to the question, "So what do you do?"

American women are evil bitches, they are full of hatred and poison. This reflects in their faces, it is said that the face is the index of the mind. If American women always look like they have a hateful and toxic bitchy look on their face, it probably means they ARE hateful and toxic bitches!

Winston has said that while he was in Russia and eastern Europe, he saw tons of single girls by themselves. Contrast this to the US, where most of the time when you see single women, they are with a guy. Good looking women have no problem meeting men in the USA. Most attractive women don't go too long in between boyfriends.

Your right, this society is done, stick a fork in it! lol

YEAH I KNOW....I am at starbucks right now ( a coffee shop for those that don't know ) and i looked around. The women ALL of unhappy ANGRY BITCHY FACES. they have this unnatural unfriendly angry angry look on their faces. most of the men are relaxed and not so tense, though there is some look of discomfort in their face just a little.

as i look around the room to notice angry unhappy american women they notice that i am looking ( no eye contact ofcourse don't want ssjparris to approach them now would they) and they put up their hand on the side of their face so they can't see me looking at them. that is really rude. and unfriendly. jeez louise they really HATE men. This is why they have that angry look on their face they don't like men looking at them, staring at them, looking at their boobs when they talk to them, don't want to be approached. ALL unnatural NON SENSE. UGH !!!

But hey i am a male in aemrica don't have to suffer as much as they do. score !!!!.
