How To Find Cheap Flights and Airfares
How To Find Cheap Flights and Airfares
Here's some valuable flight info. from Naughty Nomad.

Skyscanner
http://ca.skyscanner.com/
1. Log on to skyscanner, type in your location, for your destination type ‘Everywhere’. Search flight for ‘whole year’.
2. Bingo – you will see the cheapest flights to everywhere in the world and when they are. You may know about this already, but let’s see if we can do better.
3. HACK – Change your location to the nearest travel hubs and compare. Do this with a few hubs. For example – I’m in Ireland, home of Ryanair. While Dublin the best hub for flights around Europe, it’s no so good for further afield. So I change location to the UK. Viola – even cheaper flights. Often it only costs around €20 to flight over for the connection anyway. This has saved me hundreds and lands me in far more interesting destinations. For more hubs see bottom of this article.

i remember a foreigner in manila gave me some website and said they give good rates but when i called up they weren't cheaper.
i found priceline the best BUT to get the best deal on tickets you have to pick certain dates and times of day. The prices fluctuate constantly. also depends on how far in advance you buy and certain times of year.

I always buy one-way tickets when they have seasonal offers. I save alot that way. For example Thomascook might have a flight from UK to Cyprus for 90euro so I'll get that, then look for one-way-ticket home via another airline.
Also flying direct can be expensive, eg, France to Cyprus, whereas flying from France > Istanbul > Cyprus can be more affordable. Downside the trıp & travel time is longer or you could just make a vacation of it.

This has nothing to do with flights, but travelling by train is the most affordable by far, if you like backapacking across places like Europe. Some trains have cabins with beds you can reserve for sleeping. Travel lite & you can go from city to city, country to country.

Here is another airfare search engine that has low fares.
http://www.flighthub.com
I got low fares to the Philippines with Best Travel Store before.
http://www.bt-store.com
How do you know which countries require an onward ticket to enter though? Is there a site that lists such countries?

Just compared the flight I'll be taking back to the U.S. on Aer Lingus on this flighthub site versus Travelocity. Flighthub was $70 more expensive, and about $68 more expensive than just getting the ticket directly from Aer Lingus.Winston wrote:Here is another airfare search engine that has low fares.

Yea I always check vendor websites for the Trans Atlantic flights, I still think for in continental European flights that skyscanner, ryan air and kayak are best.gsjackson wrote:Just compared the flight I'll be taking back to the U.S. on Aer Lingus on this flighthub site versus Travelocity. http://www.onetravel.com is good but pay attention to the details. The cheapest fairs are alternative dates/airports and they don't include taxes in the price advertised.
A brain is a terrible thing to wash!
It seems to be so random. For instance I found the cheapest flight from MEX to GIG (Mexico City to Rio) on Orbitz. For intra-Mexico travel just going to Volaris' website was the cheapest for their tix.
Some of the super-cheap sites have customer service issues from what I understand... so I dunno.

Here are two more cheap airfare search engines. However, the sites look sloppy and unstable. lol

I just booked a $740 flight from Las Vegas to Taipei, Taiwan. It includes a transfer in Los Angeles.
But the thing is, I found out that I could have saved $150 by booking two separate tickets - one to Los Angeles and then another to Taipei. I don't know why, but when you book a fare from a major city and then another fare from your city to the major city, it's cheaper and saves you money.
I guess the only downside of that is that you have to pick up your luggage at the baggage carousel of the transfer airport and check it in again. Plus when you depart the baggage carousel, you have to find the check in for the next flight too. So it's a bit more trouble too.
