Joke's on them. =p They had to pay money to avoid hearing about the superbowl! How stupid is THAT!? lol j/k

I actually didn't know about the superbowl recently, until YOU GUYS TALKED ABOUT IT! Shame on you! >: |
I never heard about it from other people though. Michigan must not be a world champion. >_>

i have no idea why - i think the nfl is the most boring garbage ever
half the time the game is stopped - no flow to it
last time i watched it when i was in america afew years ago
Mass fan sports, olympics, world cup - whatever
all designed to distract the masses from how much theyre getting screwed
by their respective governments on a daily basis
And why do they call it football, they hardly ever us their feet anyway?
the real football is what you call soccer in Usa and Australia
- again a pretty boting game - dont understand the mass hysteria nad grown men
acting like retards when a goal is kickean
No offense but a lot of aussies I met were secretly enamored of American culture despite the constant Anti-America talk you see going on. I guess it's that anglo cultural connection. People of anglo culture tend to dress and act alike. Guys have cold macho attitudes and strut around with buff gym muscles and women are super high maintenance feminists. It's not surprising that they try to market the superturd to Australia and the U.K. In a lot of ways the NFL represents everything anglo. It's big, audacious, and it involves neanderthal ubermen mowing each other down. Plus the quarterback heroes in the NFL are nearly all stereotypically square jawed all american types. These are the aryan supermen that America worships and secretly wants everyone to be..even in other countries.

I think the Brits are the least receptive to it but the NFL managed to win Canada over so they know to push hard in other anglo markets.

repatriate your are spot on - dont worry i am not offended - i totally agree with you and could not have put it better myslf
aussies are very similar to americans with their fake bravado and super masculine women
i am not your typical australian , my parents hail from the former yugoslavia and i have been brought up in a different way
i have never really felt i belonged in Australia and dont really relate to many of the cultural attributes of the typical asutralian
which in many way is similar to your run of the mill yankee redneck or hillbilly

I think the redneck equivalent in Australia is called bogans. I've met some of them overseas, and I can tell you--they're as nasty, crude, and racist as they come!

I've decided to bring this thread up from last year because I'm sick to death of the SuperBowl Hype every year! Why do Americans care so much about this stupid game, lol.

I agree with what you state here but let's be fair -- half of those square-jawed Aryan supermen are Black.

Heard this recently on a newscast (perhaps Fox News or Fox Business News?), male newscaster was saying he also would never wear another man's jersey. I had never thought about it before, except the vague impression that the only people to do so are the backwards-ball-cap foul-mouthed loudmouth guys that sometimes get allowed out in public.

Come to think of it, the only person I remember doing this at college was a chick -- that hot Polish-American blonde that J.D. met when we were in Bermuda with the rugby team. Bare-legged. You know the look. Yeah, she was hot. Looks good on a chick.

Honestly, no. I may watch the Fall Classic or the Stanley Cup (since my hometown team might be in it), otherwise I could give a rip less.

Well, he's right about the quarterbacks. The ones highly regarded, like Manning or Montana, tended to be white, whereas black ones like McNabb, were more complimented on their athletic abilities as oppose to spot decision making.

But sure, in sports, winning trumps racial categorization except for the Boston Celtics of the 80s, which was the most beloved near all white American team.

The 3.5 million dollar 30 second commercials are cool. Beyonce/Desitny's Child put on a good half time show.

Currently half the lights went off because of power surge, should be back on in 15 minutes.

If it wasn't for gambling, the popularity of the NFL would be no where near where it is right now.

Yes, I have some action on the game. No, I haven't watched a minute of it. Only keeping up with it online...
