I failed to mention that you have many guys walking around who think their kids are biologically theirs, but are not. They say something like 38% (+or-) of men are raising kids that are not biologically theirs.

What's going on is that you have women who have one night stands with the neighborhood player and then go home to their boyfriends/husbands and get them to unknowingly raise the kid(s). I have seen on female forms where some women say they want a kid by such and such guy but they want another guy to raise it. And mind you, this has been going on for 1000's of years and it's only recent that men can scientifically confirm the child is really theirs.

I knew of one such guy that I met 5 years ago who found out after 18 years of child support payments that his daughter was not biologically his. He told me his wife admitted it to him when they were going though a nasty divorce.
OK I know this a serious thread and I am being a bit of an AH by posting my favorite video here... but I just can't resist....

Maybe that's why men build things (tools, houses, cars, roads, farms, etc.), because we don't directly have kids. Some houses and castles are hundreds or years old, the original builders long gone. :D
Thing is, teh wimminz want to keep the kids and take the house, too.

I'd rather be defined (if at all) by something I built rather than defined by what my descendants do.

What if these were your great-great-granddaughters?

You call that a "success"?
KK, you have a point. A guy named Jesus Ben-Sirach agreed with you around 2300 years ago, in the Book of Sirach, chapter 16:

1 Don't wish for a multitude of worthless children, and don't be glad about sons and daughters if they are ungodly. 2 If they have children, don't rejoice over them unless they respect the Lord. 3 Don't be confident that they will live, and don't rely on their great number. One is better than a thousand, and it's better to die childless than to have ungodly children. 4 A city will be populated through one intelligent person, but a tribe of lawless people can transform it into a desert.

The video brought back a memory about Nickerson Gardens.

My children's mother was mugged there, after her car got a flat tire on the 105 freeway.

There was another side to it though. After I went down there, gun in my waist, ready to kill, I found her in an all-night Denny's, where I learned that the Black staff had been very kind to her.

And I'll never forget the Black man working behind the counter, wiping it down. He was about my age at the time, thirtyish, no doubt earning around minimum wage, no doubt getting way less than 40 hours a week. Taking what he could get. Working the night shift in Nickerson Gardens. My family's interaction with inner-city crime was a one-time event. He lived with it.

I have tried to remember that guy when people - accurately - point out minority crime.

So I guess at least one set of parents in that neighborhood did do a good job with their son.

Wow. It seems not that much is new to the world, just new to the one learning.
Maybe the problems we see are not the result of any particular -ism (feminism, socialism, communism), but instead the -isms and problems they bring are manifestations of human nature. I think that might actually be worse, though. That would mean it's genetic.

The Kanye vid was a nice break. A lot of wisdom can be found in some "low brow" songs, if people listen past the beat.

I was told that the only reason why a paternity test isn't done for every newborn baby is due to this reason.^^

This must have been back in the 90's. I got to LA in the 2000's and I was told the city wasn't as hot as it use to be.

That said, I miss the 105 Freeway, I use to buy coconuts from the Mexicans whenever I got off the 105 exits.

I'm not surprised. Some places even make DNA testing illegal, without the mother's permission.
When it comes to transferring money from men to women, presumption of paternity is enough, but determining exact paternity is claimed to be too intrusive (read: too socially inconvenient) to the women.
