Why do Americans have to be coddled like babies?

I noticed that when it comes to customer service in America that it doesn't matter where you go the people have to talk to you in that fake super happy upbeat sing song positive voice. It's not enough to be polite but they have to pile on the saccharine positivity to keep the customers happy. It's the type of voice used when talking with a puppy or a small child.

Are Americans really so manic-depressive and emotionally fragile that people in service positions can't speak to people in a regular polite tone of voice? I notice American customers are also touchy and demanding when it comes to this. They need this kind of baby treatment or they go berserk and start complaining.

Ugh. Tell me about it. This is why I'm desperately trying to get a job that requires minimal human interaction and will allow me to be left alone in my own thoughts for the most part. Something like lifting crates in a warehouse. I just can't fake being happy.

I read the comment section on one of the news articles talking about that. A lot of the Ameri-sheep were bleating about how hard work pays off and the more sensible people who were critical of this type of corporate slavery were being called "socialists" by the addle brained peanut gallery.

Sad, but not surprising. There was a time when the purpose of an internship was training. Now the purpose is just to exploit cheap labor.

The general public are indeed just sheep. Large companies brain wash people making them think that they will be rewarded for their hard work. The majority of people that work 9-5s are depressed and unhappy with their lives. The standard in America is to work like a slave for 5 days a week / 40+ hours a week with very little time off and very little vacation. The US is the only country in the world that doesn't have a single legally required paid vacation day or holiday. But in the European Union, it's the law for every country there to give people at least four work weeks of paid vacation per year.

This is why I just don't give a shit at work anymore. I'm not even afraid of termination. I think it would be a relief if I got fired.

It is funny in his case given that he was trying to be a bankster and ended up hoisted by his own petard.

I used to do the egg thing too. Korean Ramen tends to be the best but check out the sodium on ramen next time. It's usually like 50-100% of your Daily suggested intake in one pack.
