As someone wise once said, 'the older I get, the less I know'

No matter what you guys say, I've learned that in order to stay sane, quite often I must fight a crusade against almost everything so that I don't get sucked in and get brainwashed.

You are learning to run before you can walk, have a long term relationship with a woman first and then come back and tell us how it is done.

Seeing and knowing so much is a double edged sword. Great wisdom comes with great sorrow.

It aint all about you lad, when you get into a relationship, you need to learn the art of comprimise - if you want to get your own way all the time, buy a dog. :)

In China the bridal price used to be something as simple as a bicycle or radio, but nowadays it often needs to be a lot more valuable like a house or a car for middle class and above, along with the obvious RMB from the man's bank account.

Shit I have no obligation to provide for the woman's parents / extended family. If I ever help them it will be out of gratitude for them helping me AND being decent human beings, not because it is part of their destiny to receive financial aid from their daughter's spouse. Everdred agrees with me on this one.

If a female would give me up because her family did not approve for whatever damn reason, that basically says she's a mama's/papa's girl. I will not accept the cliche "I love you very much, but my parents and relatives do not want us to be together." I would give her a Bible and get her to read Genesis 2:24, copy it 100 times, write it on her arm / hand, and recite it the first thing in the morning every day until she gets it and acts accordingly.

Life's not all sunshine. A lot of times if you don't fight for something, you will never get it. If you won't even defend what you hold dear, then you might as well be laying in the grave. My question is: How many people are willing to win a total victory at all costs?

# I'm ranting a little in some parts because recently I've been in a pretty bad mood due to abusive family, but what I've said is actually how I feel even when I'm in a better mood.

Since I'm not American or even white (Chinese-Canadian), will I still be seen as a walking ATM in many places?

Well, you are going to have a hard time with Chinese women and it brings me back to my earlier point about the chaps on here hating on western culture when it comes to female behaviour but are only too willing to implant western ideals and mores when it comes to their own relationships - it is awful hypocrisy at best and it means you are not an ideal fit for these women.

If you are Chinese, you know dating is a pre-empt for marriage, Chinese girls dating potential marriage partners and there is nothing casual about it. Therefore, the actual ceremony is took as seriously as the search for a husband is.

Family comes first - filal piety - don't like it? Don't marry a Chinese or a Vietnamese woman.

Have you thought about looking for a white, western woman who thinks the same as you?

Basically, you are young and you have all the time in the world, the woman I am married to is not the woman I imagined marrying at 18. Just let life come at its own pace.

It is how it is.

Do you think Mick Jagger still f***s women more than half his age because he is a 'nice guy'.

There are actually rich Arabs who treat white, beautiful, young blonde women in London as fat Hank from Iowa does to the bar hoes of Angeles City.

It is the same rules all over the world but the stakes are higher in Oslo than they are in Manilia and the average Joe is just not in the game.

You are a walking ATM in Ormoc compared to Manuel the mechanic who earns 10 dollars a day, he isn't in the game compared to us, your comparative wealth is a factor, it cannot be denied.

But it is no different back home, there aint no heart surgeons searching for love on match.com

One thought I would add:

Keep it to what the groom's family can easily afford - a party they would normally throw.

A keg or two of beer or a backyard barbecue, or a room rented in a restaurant.

The best clothes you would normally wear. No tuxes, unless you are a preppie who already own one. No white Cinderella gowns, unless you are a Disney character.

Fun, love, family...... keep it simple, then relax on your honeymoon.

Fat, balding, old, probably ugly, and no bloody money, remind everyone why you are such a great catch to women half your age?

You British faggots always make me laugh. Are you on TeakDoor as well?

My word. The sum of what is wrong with the men on this forum.

Facts are, weddings are very important in a lot of cultures where you are looking for women. .

And as a faggot, you DREAM of being a bride in a white gown.

You are still young, it is not a big deal for you at the moment, I would advise on getting your degree and exploring the world. I wouldn't be worrying about marriage just yet.

How has that worked for you, faggot?

However, Jester and his hilarious alternative of a 'barbecue and a few beers in the back yard' says loads about him, him and his ilk on here who decry western women and values and completely ignores the fact that the women he is after (Mexican? Filipina?) and their families would baulk at a 'wedding ceremony' like that....

I know you are counting the whole thing, white garter around your leg and all, but the fact is that many couples in Latin America live together without formal, legal marriage.

Hate to burst your bubble, honey.
