Single American Moms

Post by DanielleNguyen » June 15th, 2014, 3:08 am

It seems lots of people picture single American moms as used up whores smoking a cigarette while her child goes and strangles a puppy. Truth is, single moms get lots of bad rep. I mean you go through lots of hate, get labels, and for what? Truth of the matter is single moms are awesome and amazing women. My mom was a single mom. She had to have a lot of courage to leave my abusive dead beat of a father and she took me to grandpas house where we lived til she remarried. My mom worked hard earning money to raise me. She always gave me all the attention I could ask for when she was home. She always wore a smile, even when she was sick. But, best of all momma taught me to enjoy the little things, like the sound of rain on the tin roof. As a adult, I got pregnant. My son's biological father I had known since 6th grade. At first we started off as mortal enemies. I was the kid who hated pretty boys, which he was. After high school, he moved into the apartment next to mine and we hit it off. After a while we decided to relocate to North Carolina to help out his mother...where I had a positive test. My son's father changed after that, almost like night and day. I decided to leave. I went back home to TN. I wanted to give my son the best. I watched what I ate. No deli meats honestly almost drove me insane. I even spent a hour reading the back of diaper boxes. What is hypoallergenic? What about this brand? Huggies vs. pampers. I already decided to breastfeed through lots of research on how breast milk was more healthy than formula. I got pregnant in June of 2012. I met Anthony in October of 2012. We didn't live together, but spent months talking. Through out my pregnancy I spent lots of time nesting and overstocking on everything. It became very expensive for me, but this is something I wanted to do perfectly. My son's biological father and I never spoke again. He never paid child support, never signed the birth certificate, he was really never there. He suddenly became a ghost. All the friendship, everything was gone. Anthony got back from deployment when my son was 3 months old. He held him for the first time and unlike many men, decided he wanted to stick around. He didn't have to be a dad. We went from something missing to a family. In all honesty, I was very happy. I wasn't afraid anymore. Trust me, when your a single, alone mom there is a lot to be afraid of. I've seen lots of single moms give up and sink to becoming "TRASH." Anthony and I began living together. It annoyed him at first, how overprotective I was of my son. He really worried about my health because my son could just shift in the crib and the smallest breathe on the baby monitor would wake me up and I would go in his room, check on him. Also, I didn't give up the breastfeeding. I was the only one who would feed my son. NO bottles, because I had heard about nipple confusion and that scared me. No pacifiers, stuffed animals, or letting him sleep on his tummy because of SIDS. I was a very paranoid, overprotective, first time mom. I practically lived by the germX. It was in every room, the car, the diaper bag. It took Anthony a lot of stepping up to get me to relax my guard. Believe it or not, there are a lot of single moms in America. No lots of us are not whores. Some just got unlucky with their first love. It's amazing once you think about it. The men can walk off free. While the woman lives the rest of her life with labels. But yet, isn't that woman brave. We understand we may never find love again. We understand we may be hated and ostracized much like Hester Prynn. (Don't know who it is read the Scarlet Letter, that book made me cry. She was such a brave awesome woman to make her Scarlett A big. That's right Hester do not be ashamed. Be proud.) And also once you think about it, you may be this naive virgin girl like I was. All it takes is one time, one time to turn you into a single mom. But if you happen to be a single mom and you are reading this, well you are awesome. You had the strength to bring this child into the world by yourself. You chose life. Good for you.

Here is a lengthy discussion of single moms and dating them by Stephan Molyneux.

BTW, the writer, Nathaniel Hawthorne, is considered one of the great authors of New England. His birth home is a historic preserve in Salem MA. In addition, there's also a House of Seven Gables, another historic shrine in the same town.

And in modern times, even Metallica was inspired to write a hard rocker, based upon the Scarlet Letter.

I'll bet that old Nate never expected that a century and half into the future, headbangers would rock to his writing

The crucible is good. Oh so is Les miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dam by Victor Hugo. Speaking of Britian, my teacher Gary Paterson, wrote the Walrus was Paul. He taught contemporary Music , psychology, and English 3. He was a great teacher who got me into the old writings and their backgrounds of why they were written

Some of them bounce back nice after a kid, most don't. Who wants to finance someone else's mistake?
Stop being angry at the stuff you don't have (yet) in life and instead focus on how to get it.

Danielle,

You were alright in the beginning, but now this hypersensitivity that you have due to your pregnancy...this is uber-meticulous analysis of stateside dysfunctional issues you bring forth has f.uck-all to do with being Happier Abroad.

No other forum would let you post stuff like this???

Yes, I am guilty of posting asinine topics too, but enough is enough.

There has to be some damage control in getting this forum back to what the title is about.

There are too many stateside discussions. It's becoming a waste of e-data now.

Now all we need is wait for Danielle to have post-partum syndrome and she would be lighting this forum up like a Xmas tree with dysfunctional emotion.

Danielle, can you start posting on the female section again? Why aren't you speaking to your husband about this s.hit that you post???

Why did your mom marry the abusive dead beat in the first place? That's pathologically irresponsible behavior. Then to make things worse, she became a burden to her dad.

Well, she did get me to post a Metallica song  as well as George Thorogood's classic on being a boozer. Doesn't that count for something, in terms of art and culture?

Technically speaking, what your saying is true. Many of them work hard and sacrifice for their family.

However, American women in general have a divorce rate that's at least 5 times higher than Filipina women which is one of the reasons I married one. Its safer for an American man to go to the Philippines and marry a hot Filipina half his age than waste time and money with an American woman and he's less likely to get false charges brought against him too. A guy I worked with lost $400,000 when he got divorced, there's no way you can trivialize that.

In basketball, isn't that called an assist to an alley-oop? Thus, she brings up alcoholism and I drop the Thorogood tomahawk, slam dunk.

Go Spurs! Sorry had to throw that in :P

I was watching this show called "Divorce Wars" on CNBC, and they documented the case of one woman who actually downloaded child porn onto her husband's laptop to get him thrown in jail. Luckily the husband was able to hire a bunch of experts who were able to prove that the porn was downloaded at a time when the husband was out of town; but those experts cost the husband tens of thousands of dollars. If he hadn't had the means to defend himself, he would have been utterly destroyed. Oh by the way, no criminal charges were brought against his wife.

While there are exceptions, solo-motherhood in the West would tend to indicate gross irresponsibility on the solo-mother's part in most cases. Consider ways she might have become a solo-mother:

1. She divorced a perfectly good husband because it was in her economic interest and she was a little bored.
2. She divorced a bad husband she knew was a dirtbag from the start that she passed up a long line of good men wanting to marry her for because dirtbags make her gina twitch.
3. She had casual sex without contraception for the hell of it.
4. She deliberately got pregnant in order to entrap some guy into marriage and it didn't work out.
5. She drove away her husband by being a horrible bitch.
6. She chose to get pregnant by some random guy(s) in order to be a career welfare sow.
Etc.

I imagine that covers most of them.
