Obviously not all poor people are like that, some were born into poverty which is very hard to get out of. The average poor person is pretty irresponsible though, and their irresponsibility is often the cause of their poverty. They buy things they can't afford trying to live a 70k a year lifestyle on a 25k a year income. I'm relatively poor for a guy my age but I suppose I have myself to blame for that. I wasted 7 years in Asia.
Wasted? Are you so sure? Maybe you feel you wasted it because you had not generated residual income during all that time. Personally, I think it couldn't have been a totalllllll waste, right?
It's time to expatriate to evade your fate; it's time to expatriate before the barn door permanently closes on "US" sheep.

I mean it was a waste of time in terms of building an actual career. I did have some good times so it wasn't a total waste. I do regret staying in Asia as long as I did though. I only should have stayed in Asia for a year. That was my original plan too. I planned to teach in Thailand for one year then spend a couple months backpacking around Asia.
