Marketing Gimmick by Bands or a Trend?

I listen to a little bit of everything music , but I have noticed that several rock bands having been talking about bringing humanity to the next plan (Savages and Blow by Theory of a Deadman and Edge of a Revolution by Nickleback). Is this a trend and a warning of things to come, or is it a cheap marketing ploy?

I have not an idea about it. If you talk about a normal Marketing or way of marketing. Before starting any marketing campaign, you need to understand, and we want to achieve it in the end.
