What I have Been Up To.

Well, apparently the Cuban Ferry is having troubles financing the boat to Cuba, and I want to save Colombia for myself and my gf, so I decided on Costa Rica and Nicaragua as alternatives. This will be more of a pleasure trip (although I will keep an eye out for opportunities) and will likely focus more on fun stuff (baseball, jazz, and hiking) rather than on shopping. One thing I learned from my last trip is not to go to the major malls, since most the stuff I found there I could find in most American malls. Now just to find tickets for it. I will likely leave in January if I can find a decent ticket. I really want to visit Cuba, but until everything is settled with the ferry, I think I will look at other places on my list to strike off.

Was just thinking about you this morning actually. Someone who just heads out and does it.
Keep it up!

Keep us posted on developments. I'd like to hear about Costa Rica. A friend of my dads is living there and she's had no trouble at all from humans, but the wildlife is another story lol. Actually she had way more trouble in San Francisco.
The main problem with Costa Rica is that it looks so boring! And it rains. A lot!!!

Yup.
Zip line.
OK, whoopee.
Nice house in the middle of frickin nowhere...
...inaccessible 200+ days a year without 4 wheel drive.
Retired people.
Mute, superficially-friendly locals.
Not a city in sight anywhere.
Unh-hunh.
You said it. It looks boring.

I feel like Costa Rica would be nice for baseball and hiking, as well as other things, so I am not as worried about things to do. Nicaragua is more of a business side of the trip, but I do want to explore it too, since it seems ready to explode, and it would be nice to see it before it gets ruined. I plan on Managua, Grenada, and Leon for a quick three day detour (depending on how much progress I make). I hope to take a friend, but I am not holding my breathe.
On a side note, I am still working, as well as working on perfecting a product to sell south of the border (clone of something here), got turned down for a home loan, so I am going to rent for a small bit, save, and buy a small place to eventually rent, so I may be set back on the finance bit. I am also working on creating a Libertarian affiliate in my county with a friend, and I am also considering running for County Commissioner. I really feel mixed. My rational side tells me to f*c* all the commies in this screwed up culture, but my inner martyr keeps coming out wanting to have an impact on my county before I move for further schooling (finished my associates and some extra work that can transfer to uni), and it would look good on a resume. So I am pulled between the PT and running for office methods as ways to change the culture for liberty. But so far my heart has been pulling me towards politics, as much as my rational self says no, and the new Libertarian Party chair for my state seems more enthusiastic than the last one, so It encourages me even one. In between that struggle and my struggle between being too serious and being a fake are the major mind concerns. I am also going to be moving out on my own. So that is overall what is up with me.

Have a read of Myers Brigg's personality theories, you sound like you're in a classic judging/perceiving battle. I have only a small preference for J, so while I write todo lists, I am pretty bad at actually doing them. A single beer is enough to knock out my judging function.
Myers Briggs explained my current last job disaster (me an INFJ having to work for two ESTJ's - my exact opposite personality). It's also explained so much of what's happened on my CELTA. ESTJ's can be good teachers, but they're all at sea when it comes to emotions and they go stupid when drunk. NT types have been formidable in the classroom, their intellects are astounding.
Damn it takes years to get good at this stuff. If you think it's rubbish you're probably an ST type lol.
As to Costa Rica, if you like small towns and making a small circle of close friends then it's a great place to live. It seems quite easy to get long term visas as well, kind of like Thailand used to be with those visa runs to Cambodia in an old bus.

Costa Rica is more for relaxing, not business per se. But Nicaragua is partially business. I don't plan on living in Costa Rica, but it would be another country to cross reference. I have also looked into the INTJ thing. I think the explains me. On a side note I think Colombia would be my taste, but waiting for pooki to finish her studies.
