Canadian Beheaded in Philippines

Post by NorthAmericanguy »

Sorry, I ment to post this in the news section. Regardless, I'm surprised nobody said anything about this. 2-3 Western men were taken hostage for ransom and were beheaded in the southern part of the Philippines, around 600 miles from Manila.

This definitely changes my outlook on the Philippines.

Judging the Philippines (or Mindanao) from that episode is tantamount to judging the US based on the all-too-frequent high-school/college shootings. Come on guys...

It's funny that you mention school shootings, because if we look at the number of weapons in the Philippines it's pretty telling they haven't, to my knowledge, have people shoot up schools yet. It's a uniquely American problem. Terrorism, meanwhile, happens everywhere - people tend to think of croissants and the Eiffel tower when they think of Paris, for example; now it's croissants, the Eiffel tower and being blown to pieces by ISIS. Just this year dozens of people were killed in an American night club by a terrorist, but how many hostages have died this year in Mindanao? Surely far less.

In spite of the high profile mass gun shootings which seem to happen regularly in the USA these days, the overall homicide rate fell to it's lowest level in 2014 (no data I know of for 2015 yet) since 1957 and less than half it's peak level of 1980.

Homicides per 100,000 per year:

1957: 4.0
1958: 4.8

1980: 10.2

2012: 4.7
2013: 4.5
2014: 4.5

Its not that simple. Those who intend to live in Philippines must know its true history and not get swayed by "Democracy" and "freedom".

DO NOT GO TO THAT REGION. IT DOES NOT BELONG TO PHILIPPINES AS WE KNOW IT

It's a historical problem in the south.

Philippines was largely a Hindu place like rest of south east Asia before many areas were converted into islam before the arrival of spanish in 15'th century when they started converting filipinos to christianity but most of the Sulu islands and mindanao had trade with Malay peninsula and had Muslim kingdoms.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism_ ... hilippines

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_the_Philippines

The entire Sulu area has a history of violence against outsiders. They operated through sultanates, Rajah system, the malay peninsula is and was Muslim's for centuries even before Philippines was converted into "christianity" and "democracy"

The Moros have a history of resistance against Spanish, American, and Japanese rule for over 400 years. The violent armed struggle against the Japanese, Filipinos, Spanish, and Americans is considered by current Moro Muslim leaders as part of the four centuries long "national liberation movement" of the Bangsamoro (Moro Nation).[13] The 400-year-long resistance against the Japanese, Americans, and Spanish by the Moro Muslims persisted and morphed into their current war for independence against the Philippine state.[14]

The moro people do not care for Democracy. They do not belong to the "System" that Manila wants people in Philippines to follow.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomou ... m_Mindanao

IT WAS NEVER..REPEAT...That area was never part of Phillippines empire which was stitched by western "democracy". People there DO NOT CARE about Democracy , they have their own culture and history.

For the most part of Philippines' history, the region and most of Mindanao have been a separate territory, which enabled it to develop its own culture and identity.

The region has been the traditional homeland of Muslim Filipinos since the 15th century, even before the arrival of the Spanish who began to colonize most of the Philippines in 1565. Muslim missionaries arrived in Tawi-Tawi in 1380 and started the conversion of the native population to Islam. In 1457, the Sultanate of Sulu was founded, and not long after that the sultanates of Maguindanao and Buayan were also established.

At the time when most of the Philippines was under Spanish rule, these sultanates maintained their independence and regularly challenged Spanish domination of the Philippines by conducting raids on Spanish coastal towns in the north and repulsing repeated Spanish incursions in their territory.

Its not justified in anyway to kill innocent people to further your cause, but that place is beyond that now and simply do not care. The MORO people do not consider themselves to be FILIPINOS that we know of.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangsamor ... al_entity)

They want independence from Philippines or at best Autonomous region which the Philippines government is reluctant to pass.

AL THEY WANT IS THIS

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangsamoro_Basic_Law

The Bangsamoro Basic Law, often referred to by the acronym " BBL" (Filipino: Batayang Batas para sa Rehiyong Awtonomo ng Bangsamoro),[2] was a bill deliberated upon by the 16th Congress of the Philippines which, had it passed, would have established a proposed new autonomous political entity known as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, replacing the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).[3]

As an organic act, the Basic Law would have provided for the basic structure of government for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, and enacted the agreements set forth in the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, which is the peace agreement signed between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in 2014.

-------------------

The philippines government is reluctant to pass this law, if current president Duterte passes this law, as he has promised introducing federalism. All these problems will vanish in a day.

As the current president has stated as he is from the south and understand the pulse of real philippines not oligarchy in Manila. Federalism is the key in solving the crisis there.

---------------

Now the beheading were done by the off shoot abu-sayyaf who are pirates, thugs, terrorist from that region who are hijacking the entire problem and hiding in the shade of muslims around, that is why Duterte went to MILF leader who represent majority of muslims there to get their support before attaching the Abu-sayyaf group which can be terminated if they pass BBL law so that majority of muslims will be on the government side.

------------------- Just think of it like Brunei...Small country in Malaysian Peninsula ...Entirely Muslims.....No issues whatsoever...People are rich and happy and with plenty of Oil.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunei

That was one of the Rajah kingdoms that became a separate country. The Moro people want something like that. Have we seen any issues from Brunei ? All Muslims ..No Issues.
