I just got back after 2 weeks and already on the Latest Threads which is the first place I go when I come here, more than half is still spam. WTF???

That will cause a Forum to die if there's too much spam. Something needs to be done about it. Why do other forums on controversial topics not receive this mass bombardment of spam?

Is it foreign spammers or their bots? Or is it the government?

Yes the place is falling apart. I've had hacker problems on my own sites, so today I did a bit of investigation.

My hackers are coming from Ukraine and are doing brute force login attempts (i.e. they have long lists of email addresses and passwords from site A and are trying to see if they can be used to log into sites B-Z).

I'm now trying CloudFlare which should block them before they ever get to my sites. This service is also free (which will appeal to Winston!!!) but give me a week or so to test it on my sites first, then I'll report back.

Today it reached a new low for the Latest 100 Threads page. About 95 out of the 100 were all spam when I just checked.

Looks like Winston didn't do much to stop the spammers.

I have no idea what you're talking about or what is known as being that way?

xiongmao, I used cloudflare for a long time. It had problems and masked the spammers IPs. So I removed it. The spam is cleaned up now but it comes back daily. Not much I can do about it. Humanizer questions don't work anymore. And Google's bot checker has no instructions for the layman. Any suggestions besides complaints?

I just deleted over 500 spam bots today.

Thanks Jamesbond. Probably most of those 500 spam posts were from the same poster right? So you deleted them all at once.

Why should i do that? Lots of guys use that page, including rock. Why let the spammers take down pages here? Thats conceding to them. Why dont you just learn how to click on the active topics page?

The active topics page is currently being spammed as well. Why not spend a bit more time deleting spam?
