Canned Ham is right: the best girls in China are those who can't speak English and live outside of the big cities. Those kind of woman are traditional and make very suitable wives. The problem is if your Chinese isn't great, it's hard to get those kind of woman, as they usually get snatched up very quickly by both local men and a few lucky foreigners.

Trust me, guys. Avoid, at all costs! I know a couple of expat guys who married these kind of woman, only to get divorced out of sheer frustration.

Anytime local men avoid a woman, it's for a good reason, not matter what country you're in.

These days, Chinese women are focusing on careers instead of getting married early, however, the tradition that women should be married by the age of 25 still stands and no-one wants to marry these beautiful, successful women because they are seen as too old. If you hit 30 and you aren't married, then you are in trouble if you are a woman (and it isn't looking good if you are a man...)

These beautiful, career women who can't find husbands exist BUT don't expect an easy ride from them if you get married, they are going to expect you to measure up to what they consider an equal partner, work hard, contribute to the finances, make her life better - even though she is already somewhat successful.

They are great women for the the right men, basically, successful, career driven men who can make money. But is a case of caveat emptor sometimes it looks too good to be true until it's too late.
Nothing wrong with that. If a woman earns her keep he should expect a man to pull his weight and not be a whining parasite.

Then again if she is pulling her weight she should have her say. Such women are not for weak or insecure men. I prefer such women. I want a partner not a slave. I already have a maid and I have no need to boss women around. I just expect respect. And i dont need financial dependents. I already have kids.

For a man prepared to make a proper life such women can be a bonus.

Losers and pervs will call such women feminists or bitches. Only because such people have no chance with quality women and will be shut down. These men are chronically single for a reason.

These women are not feminists and at home they are proper ladies and like to spoil a man. I cant speak for the chinese one though. Being lady who not only sets the table but brings home some of the food as well, then she deserves a man who will appreciate that and realise there is a common interest in building a future.

Having had many working class and secretary type women, and well educated, I far prefer the latter. Neither is more feminist than the other. Feminists and man haters are usually ugly ones that can't get men, much like people on here whining about feminists and how bad women are are those that cant get women.

Oh I need to install that App then. I got my HSK 2 so I can write quite a bit already. The weird thing is that I learnt far more Chinese in the UK than I did living in China... we got far better teachers here.

I dated a lot of wealthy women in China. Woman #1 was earning $1000. Not per month. Per day. Woman #2 was MBA standard and advancing up the ranks... shame she took 2 hours to dry her hair before meeting me lol. Woman #3 might have been an ex-mistress but she'd made enough for a 2 bedroom apartment in a gated apartment.

Contrast that with my experiences in Thailand... 50% of my dates couldn't afford the bus fare to come and visit me.

I liked that I could have intelligent conversations with these alpha females so I guess the relationships would last longer. However they are a handful and are fairly crazy. That can be a good thing though.

What do they like? Psychoanalyse them, empathise with them, they cannot get enough of this.
I was Happier Abroad for a while but Covid killed that off.

I know Chinese women tend get a bad rap around here, but the more of them I meet the more impressed I am. Very strong work ethic, a real desire to get ahead, intelligent, and perpetually skinny haha. The one thing that strikes me is how "refined" so many of them are, even those that are not upper class. I recently talked to one who is a furniture saleswoman in her mid 30s working 60 hours/week. Not rich by any means, but still saved enough to buy a small (albeit crappy) condo. She regularly saves to be able to travel to Beijing and other big Chinese cities with her sister to go to museums, see orchestra concerts, historical sites, plays and so on. She has traveled to Japan and Australia as well, and studies English in her free time.

Contrast that with most filipinas (and Latinas) I've met - lazy, unmotivated, completely uneducated attitude towards life. Hard work and a desire to be successful are looked down upon. No real ambitions other than going dancing, karaoke/singing, watching soap operas, and gossiping.

Most of the Chinese women I've met are willing to settle on looks/height/weight if the man is successful, hardworking, and educated. This is not true with American women. Being unemployed and/or lazy will turn off a lot of Chinese women, but if you're a "bad boy" will make American women go crazy for you.

I am considering taking a 10-day trip to China this fall. HelloTalk seems like a great way to have a few "normal" everyday girls lined up to meet before arrival - as 10 days is way too short for anything else.

Haha I don't have any pics on hand, although I do have several on my phone that girls have sent me. Definitely not the porn-star types, more of the "girl next door" types, which I prefer although many don't. A good representation of what 70% of them look like would be here:

About 20% are hotter, 10% are not - but to be honest, I'm a lot less harsh on looks than others.

Go check it out if you get the chance!

That's good news for the not-so-great looking single man who has a good career. An advantage Americans have is that our salaries are high and we can get paid more for the same job. But that is not always true. The last I checked, CEIBS MBA grads could make really high starting salaries, the last I checked, so it depends on which sector of the economy someone is in.

My wife is Indonesian, but she's got some Chinese blood. She said if she died, not to remarry with a Chinese women, because they are 'cerowet.' That means mouthy, like bossy or complaining a lot. I told her she was part Chinese. Is that where she got it. :)

Chinese women may not be as strong into the idea that the man is in charge as other cultures. I don't know. I know there is a lot of regional variation in Chinese cultures, so it would be interesting to look into that and see how a woman's parents function as a couple. If dad is in charge, that's a good thing.

I'd imagine Chinese women don't like lazy men. My wife wouldn't want me to be lazy, either. It's not just the Chinese. My wife is hardworking, but wants to devote a lot of her attention toward the home. Something to keep in mind is if you have kids, do you want your wife to stay home with them. What does the Chinese tiger-lady career woman you date want to do if she has children? If she makes more money than you, will she respect you or stay on your case to do something else that makes money?
