In America, people expect you to always be having a perfectly great day like you are at your favorite amusement park. When you get depressed, especially due to isolation, people in America look at you like you even escaped from the Federal supermax prison and have, as they love to say, "gone off your meds." And when you get depressed, American people WANT you off the streets and out of their midst. Out of sight and out of mind, treated like a feral animal. Most likely another reason people suffering from depression are forcefully isolated even more from society and put on drugs.
For men there is indeed very little understanding and help in case of problems of any kind. This is the reason why men commit so much more suicide compared to women - or they are doing something really crazy, get a gun and kill somebody.
Very different for women, there are shelters everywhere, often in case of family problems the man is arrested, the woman stays in the house like if nothing happened and he has to sleep in a car or is even homeless.
Even in case of no wrongdoings, he might be suddenly jobless, what to do? As a woman being jobless is not a great deal, the husband must care for her too. And so on and so on.
In Western countries it is often much better you are a woman and not a man. There is plenty of help available and most help will be given only to females.
The worst is when a good-natured but obese girl behind the counter seems to feel sorry for you without knowing it's her tremendous girth that is making you sad.
The main goal of America is to make everyone into happy hermits. Hence when someone becomes depressed they completely isolate him from the community and put him on drugs. As if it were a capital felony under Federal law in America for any person to form any type of friendship with another person or interact with any other person except for business reasons.
A lot of Americans are taking anti-depressants on a constant basis and they're okay with it. I personally think depression and mental disorders are typical for developed countries mostly, and this fact surprises me very much. Canada is the biggest pharma manufacturer today (I even tried Canadian online pharmacy ), and most of this meds are sold in the USA and Europe ..
