Excellent Winston! I especially agree with the going out alone in America you are seen as a loser! God forbid you go out by yourself on a Friday or Saturday night, people might think you have no friends! Also, you are right about co-workers eating lunch by themselves. In most of the jobs I have had, either all or almost all co-workers went their separate ways at lunch time. God forbid you eat lunch with your co-workers! LOL Another big one was the culture in America encourages women to act masculine and be feminists! I am not attracted to those types of women and I am sure most guys are not attracted to them either.

Re: New Comparison Chart: US vs. Abroad, anything you would
USA - Terrible divorce laws make marriage an intolerable risk for men.
Many Other Countries - Fairer divorce laws or divorce laws not enforced.
USA - Prostitution banned because American women can't tolerate the competition.
Many Other Countries - Prostitution tolerated or legal.
USA - Cities unwalkable because of single-use zoning.
Many Other Countries - Nice walkable cities.
USA - Worlds highest incarceration rate. Police generally hostile.
Many Other Countries - Police leave you alone unless you are causing trouble.
USA - Expensive housing made of cheap materials with no acoustical insulation.
Many Other Countries - Affordable housing made of concrete.
USA - Cultural paranoia prevent children from playing outside in cities.
Many Other Countries - Children play outside and learn the meaning of freedom.

Here's what that black girl in Korea had to say about the comparison chart:
---------------------------------------------------
"Who added this one?
"Co-workers usually eat together and congregate in a spirit of camaraderie."
This has proven to be true where I'm at! During winter vacation, the teachers ate together in the Vice-Principal's office. I had a classroom upstairs, and when it was time for lunch, the other teachers would call on the telephone and invite me to join them. We ate "family style" at the table, and it was quite nice.
Who added this one?
"Kids respect their parents and each other more than their American counterparts do."
This is so true! I work in a public elementary school and the children are little angels compared to some of the heathen American children that I had to deal with! Oh, the war stories I could tell you! My Korean co-teachers keep asking me over and over, "How are Korean children?" They are genuinely surprised when I tell them that Korean children are great! The children aren't perfect, of course, but I enjoy being their teacher.
Actually, there are a lot of things on the list that I like.
I'd like to add something to the list, if that's ok?
"People make time for each other and enjoy each other's company."
You can reword it any way you like. When I lived in America, I said over and over, "Sorry, I don't have time. I have to work." Actually, that was true. I was at work so much that I was barely home! Now that I'm not working like an animal abroad, I actually have time for people. Even in South Korea (known for its workaholic culture) my Korean friends and I make time to hang out. If we can't hang out, then we chat online, talk on the phone, etc. It's great! I just made some more friends today because my friend that I usually hang out with introduced me to more people. It looks like my Saturdays are booked for the rest of the year!
I'll add something else, which was the reason for hanging out earlier today.
"Many people abroad are multilingual, and Americans who travel abroad and make an attempt to speak the local language are appreciated for their efforts."
When I lived in (a certain small city in) America, monolingual people thought I was a freak of nature because I spoke several languages. Things got so bad that I would hide my language skills from English-only speakers. (I got tired of people staring at me!) However, most Spanish-speaking people appreciated my efforts. Now here I am in South Korea and the people here appreciate my efforts when I attempt to speak Korean. Most ironic of all is that some of my Korean friends are learning Spanish and want someone to practice with, so now I have to use Spanish in South Korea! And to think that I was worried that my Spanish ability was going to deteriorate from lack of use!
I'm hoping that if I return to the U.S. of A in a few years, I'll be more marketable because of my language skills. I felt that English and Spanish weren't enough, so I decided to add Korean to the list. After all is said and done, I'll come back bigger, bolder, and stronger than ever! In other words, I'll be able to read, write, speak and understand at least three different languages. (I speak two additional languages, but I don't write them very well.) If my skills aren't recognized or if I'm not compensated for them in the United States, then I might as well stay abroad. I'm having too much fun over here anyway, and I can walk around as a proud multilingual person!
Have a great weekend!"

Some more comparisons sent to me by email:
"Foreign women are held to the same standard as men
American women enjoy complete freedom from accountability.
In the U.S., a promiscuous man is a dirtbag, while a promiscuous woman is simply "exercising her reproductive rights".
In other countries there is no such double standard.
In the U.S., ' female only' clubs are o.k. with feminists, but male only clubs are discriminatory. The sheer stupidity of feminists about this issue is laughable. Of course men only clubs discriminate, if they didn't, they wouldn't be men only clubs. All clubs discriminate in one way or another. I find it discriminatory in and of itself for feminists to single out men's clubs for special reprimand, while giving women's clubs a free pass.
In most foreign countries, the women aren't that childish or insecure, and they have better thing to do than attack male only clubs.
In the U.S., a bossy woman is 'assertive', while a bossy man is 'abusive'.
In other countries there is no such double standard."

More comparisons I added to the chart.
In USA
# Nice guys are treated like doormats by women and treated like beta males
# If you treat women nicely, often you get treated badly in return
In many other countries
# Nice guys with good qualities appreciated and desired by women
# If you treat women nicely, you will usually be treated nicely in return

Just by looking quickly you could put in the America column something regarding pornography, fake dating websites, prostitution prohibited and so on.
It could be said:
Pornography is there to frustrate men,to fleece their bank account but in no way it help them in their loneliness inferno.
Many dating websites are full of fake profiles.
Men get inundated by scammers or spams who lure them into thinking that women are actively seeking sex or a relationship.
Only men's money count.
Prostitution is almost forbidden all around the US.
The client is treated like a criminal by the police state.
The prostitution is very expensive and prostitutes regard their customers without any humanity considering them less than a dog.

Great list. great summary, I should print it out and carry it around for those times when people ask me why I would ever leave this wonderful place, where, after all, "DUH MONEY IS."Winston wrote:Check out the new Happier Abroad comparison chart. Anything you guys want to add?

Although not a p4p customer at the moment, I strongly agree with this. Relationships of this type in some overseas places are so incredibly different from here, that men and women fall in love sometimes. That does not happen here in the Matrix.green1976 wrote:
