I've always wondered what would have happened if my parents took action when I was being bullied everyday in school, and went to the principal's office and threatened to sue if they didn't do anything to stop all the bullying. What would they have done about it? That's what I would do it I were a parent. In fact, I'd probably go to the high school myself and fight whoever was bullying my kid. Even though I might go to jail for it, at least it's better than doing nothing and letting my son get beaten and terrorized everyday. In contrast, my dad didn't do anything about it nor did he probably even know what was going on for some reason.

I wonder if I could sue the school today for psychological scarring for life?

I think 2/3rds of American kids get bullied at some point in their youth. I got bullied up until 9th/10th grade then it just tapered off as kids become more interested in themselves than bothering others. Plus I knew how to avoid trouble. That's one thing I learned from bullies is how to spot them and keep clear. It didn't always work, but I was able to survive without huge mental scarring. I would say 6th, 7th and 8th grades were the worst years for bullying, at least from my experience. Bullying in America and actually any culture that stems from original English roots has bullying in their youth. Something about the English and their snobbery towards other social classes. Bullying never really goes away, its just people like ourselves figure out ways to not get caught up in places that promote it like big business or working for the government. Talk about adult bullying, try working for the government! The Navy was like round two of school having to deal with ADULT bullies everyday!

Bill O'reilly did a video on a kid being mercillessly beaten by some piece of shit on a bus. Here in Colorado the governor passed a law that allowed the schools to kick out bullies, but it isn't done anywhere near like it needs to be. Throughout the 80's you couldn't kick these loser kids out of school--the school district would get sued. So it was never done.

I think it's child abuse, and the we need to be able to sue those school districts. We take a chung of coin out of these loser educationers who don't care, we'll see some results.

85% of bullies have a felony record by the time they are 22. We need to send these kids to special "bad boy" schools which is what they did before the 80's.

And as an extension to that, I think the US should adopt a German model or something for schools: don't put all academic levels of students in the exact same classes and schools. I think a big problem with many US classrooms especially in public/state schools is that the teachers have to teach to the least common denominator. In Germany, everyone goes to different schools from roughly age 10, depending on how well they performed prior. I'm all for good education but the way things are done in the US isn't cutting it. Only good schools here are only private non-religious schools and there are very few of those, also they charge lots of money to attend.

That link is a good article on schools and bullying. He understates some things and overstates others, no doubt, but theres a lot of truth in it.

The Author is Paul Graham, a successful hacker who made the world's first successful webstore (later acquired by Yahoo! for about $45 million)

W: Wow that was the greatest and best article I ever read about the dysfunction and insanity of the whole high school system and its crazy social hierarchy as well as its prison-like nature. Every sentence and point made perfect sense. And it was easy to follow and understand too. I will be posting excerpts from it soon and starting a thread on it. It's a MUST READ for anyone who's suffered or was persecuted in high school and wants to understand why.

Yeah.
~Sigh~
I *wish* I had read it when I was 15.

W: Well only those who were persecuted or suffered in high school would understand it and look deeper. After all, those happy or reaping benefits from the system aren't the ones who complain or try to look deeper into it, so they will deny the problems and say that it's up to the individual to make the best out of it. Only the suffering ask the bigger questions and look deep into the nature of the situation.

You are from Canada right Evilbaga? Is high school there the same? I thought Canadians were less dysfunctional than Americans, they sure seem that way.

I wonder why schools in foreign countries aren't as insane as in the US though.

If you could sue those school districts , "for psychological scaring and emotional suffering." You'd bring this school bullying to end in a 3-5 years. The teachers would have to start caring or you'd clip their incomes. You take 10 million out of school district that would get their attention.

Prior to the 1980's most of these bullies were kicked out of the normal schools. They went to bad boy schools. Hillary Rodham Clinton was put in charge of this government agency ( I can't remember the name of it) by Jimmy Carter. The agency was designed to give legal aid to the poor. She used the agency, with a 300 million budget, to fund all sorts of radical communist causes. The radicals would sue, and try to create case law. And that's what they did..with bullies in the schools.

They created case law that bullies could not be kicked out of public schools. The tards had to be mainstreamed. So, adminstrators of schools had their hands tied too. They'd get sued if they kicked the trouble makers out.

But to answer your question, if you sued your schools, the case would probably be dismissed, as those cases have probably been dismissed for years. You wouldn't get it to a jury. And on top of that barrier, the time to file such a case has come and gone. There is statutes of limitations on all torts.

Actually I went to school in the Middle East, and later immigrated to Canada. Making comparisons would be extremely difficult and probably misleading. But nonetheless...

In a sense school was a total horror. In a sense the persecution was probably less there(but still there!), however the rampant open racism and other lack of rights makes life for non-arabs in the middle east a life of constant subtle, and not so subtle, indignity and persecution.

So school was bad, but probably slightly better than an american school would be , but *society* was much much worse (imagine if Paul Graham didnt have a 'real world' out there where his talents were given their due and you start to get the idea).

Sadly, I get the impression the west in general as it drifts further and further into socialism is making life one long enforced school. Before you can do well, you are hassled by laws and bureaucracy. If you cross that barrier and you do well, the government will steal 50%+ of your money and give it to people who dont do well - thereby breeding entitlement in those lower class people (this includes feminists, women in general and their choice of short-term and/or long term mates). That shifts what society values from real world performance, to what was valued in school all over again, etc etc.

I never got bullied at least past 7 grade , but I saw other kids get it. And I hated it with a passion.

In the 7 th grade , I had this piece shit who was sitting behind me and kicking me. I walked in one day while he was sitting down, and couldn't get up readily and I beat him over and over with a book. Never had any more trouble with him.

But in high school that's when things really got serious. I mean really nasty , vicious serious assualtive behavior, and nothing was done about it. Most of these sociopaths have alienated all the good kids by the time they are in the 6-9 grades, so they are very lonely. In the 7-8 grades , they find each other and bond with each other--since no one else likes them. Now you are dealing with groups of predators.

One particulary vicious piece of shit--he probalby assaulted 75 kids or more--I had a run in with him, and knew a conflict was brewing so I decided to challenge him first. You know what I saw inside of him--nothing-no soul, no person. He and his gang showed up at my house after a party I had had . Luckily my friend Bill scarred him away. But I had my M16 with 3 30 round clips as a further back up, and I'd of used it.

I am not a gun crazed maniac but I believe in violence for self -defense.

Back in HS there was this Hispanic kid who loved to use his towel to drag people off their benches in the locker room. Odd thing was that many of the guys were bigger but just shrug it off as a joke. I didn't apperciate being dragged off my butt when I'm putting on my underwear. Oh and he used to call me "rice boy".

So one day I found him by a corner with his GF during lunch. They were flirting with each other by the bushes and I snuck up behind him. He was holding a school lunch bean burrito in his hand, so I yelled "BEANER" into his ear as loud as I could. He was so shocked that he squeezed the burrito, and the contents splattered out allover his GF.

After that, I ran as fast I could, with him in tow threatening to kill me. Fortunately I did out run him. Quite exciting. He complained to his cousins (in same HS) about what happened, and they all thought it was quite funny. ;)
