Ran into Bai Ling at Taipei Vieshow Cinema last night

Went to the Vie Show Cinema last night in Taipei to watch "Me and Orson Welles" and saw Bail Ling standing by herself next to the entrance to my movie. The new movie she's in, "Comedy Makes You Cry" was about to play in the next room. I suppose she was there to see how her film was doing. Nobody seemed to recognize her or if they did, were not very interested.

So I went up to her, talked with a bit, and had my girlfriend snap a couple photos with her permission. She was pretty nice and looks amazing for a 40 something. I told her I really liked Chengdu but she seems to be disconnected from that world. She emigrated to the US from China soon after taking part in the Tian-an Men protests in 1989.

Last year, she got arrested at LAX airport for shoplifting batteries and a couple of magazines. I'm guessing it was an honest mistake and she just forgot to pay. I remember reading about it on her blog (she did eventually talk about it) and it making the news since it seemed so bizarre. Yea, that's her. She's very short and skinny. I think her unusual and bizarre look actually helped her in Hollywood.

What blockbuster movies was she in? So she isn't as popular in Taiwan? That's probably why no one recognized her.

How did you get around in public? You can walk safely with a medical boot?

This link includes a list of most of her movies: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000499/ . She is C or D list but has gotten some traction at times for strange things (shoplifting, rumored brief marriage to son of Dione Warwick and cousin of Whitney Houston).

I just came back from seeing her movie. Only 3 other people in the room but its Sunday so that might have slowed things down a bit. I thought this movie (filmed in Kaoshiung) was pretty lame and I got bored after first 45 minutes.

I am getting used to walking slow with the medical boot and no crutches. I will go to hospital tomorrow and ask for a follow-up X-Ray to make sure bone is healing properly.

Man, she's in The Crow, with the son of Bruce Lee, one of my favorite movies, among other Blockbuster movies. She was also in Red Corner and The Wild Wild West with Will Smith. She was hard to forget as one of the doomed lovers in Anna and the King. She's also done some good TV, usually playing some kind of martial arts character or assassin. She has an unusual look, but I think she's gorgeous.
