I think N. Ireland is cheaper to live, compared to mainland UK. Aren't the young people of Ireland leaving due to a lack of jobs?
I recall your dislike of TH on another thread, but where have you been the last 6 months? I recall Bosnia and Poland at some point... but where exactly have you been the last 6 months? That would make it easier to understand the contrast you are drawing here.

Ireland is expensive (especially housing). Irish people can still generally get a better life by going overseas. I've worked with a lot of Irish people in London, and there are also a lot in Barcelona. There were 4 Irish nationals on my CELTA course, and a lot of the teachers in my school are from the emerald isle.
