We went to night market today. My god. The mainland Chinese sellers there were so rude and pushy. When I wanted to walk away and think then they insulted me and tried to shame me. I've never seen sellers who were so rude and crazy like that. Many of them look like they have no heart or soul. Like they are reptiles and cold blooded. It's scary to see that. Is that how most mainland Chinese people are? They also bump into you when walking as if you are not even there. Geez.

Winston wrote:Hi everyone, we are in Hong Kong now. Dianne is with me. She doesn't need a visa to come here. The city is bigger than I thought. I was expecting a small city 10 or 20 miles across because it looks so tiny on the map. But it's a lot bigger than that and divided into regions.

It's very clean, safe and modernized. And the Chinese food and seafood are fantastic and would please the pickiest eaters. The girls look white and hot but serious and prim and proper. They don't look like the type that would flirt with a stranger. Lol

I'm also surprised that not many people are here even though it's chinese new year. The streets are very quiet and sparse. I don't know if many locals left town for chinese new year or if all the tourists just haven't arrived yet.

But the hotels and hostels are very expensive this week and I'm not sure if I can find a way around that. There are many pushy Indians here hustling people to stay in rooms so maybe I can negotiate a deal with one of them. But when hustlers act too pushy it triggers my defenses and makes me want to dodge them.

I did not intend to come here during chinese new year though. I picked the date at random before I came to the Philippines when i bought my onward ticket to qualify for entry and it just happened to be on the start of Chinese new year. Gee I wish I was that lucky at the roulette wheel in casinos. Lol.

As usual, Murphys law rules and must be more powerful than God since everything always happens according to Murphys law. For example, if a banana peel was in the hallway and I dont see it and walk in the hallway, there's a 95 percent chance I will step on it. That's Murphys law for you and there can be no denying it because it always happens.

Likewise everything always happens at the wrong time and most difficult time. Happens all the time. Murphys law is one of those forces in the universe that's consistent and always there but can't be explained. f**k Murphys law.

Hey Winston I'm coming back to Hong Kong in May. How long will you be there? Are you going back to Phil?

I'm bringing a friend with me from the US and we will go to Hong Kong, Macau and maybe Shenzhen for the summer. Then we will head over to Singapore where will try to get jobs and make a living. Let me know if you want to meet up. You should take Diane to Singapore one of these days. I'm sure she will enjoy it.

Yes, I have to agree with Winston, Diane is not the least bit fake. I've seen her tell Winston off if she didn't like something he was doing. She is Winston's perfect equal, but different. They make a good couple :D

I got irritated a bit (well a lot) while living in China when people would routinely push in front of me in queues. The way I dealt with it was with English patience and a stiff upper lip.

I saw some mainland tourists in Japan a few times, and even if you didn't recognise different Asian languages it was just so easy to spot the Chinese.

All this was put to rest years ago after its been brought up 10000000000 times. I'm tired of it. Why you rehashing it again?

I have no patience for a lie that's been debunked 1000 times. Anyone who rehashes the lie will be banned from now on. Case closed.

LOL don't take it the wrong way Winston but, being the public leader of a known online movement, like all Great Leaders, your biographic information naturally starts being polluted with crap and some of the biggest truths and lies slowly morph into myths. You're the stuff legends are made of. I think you have always wanted it, with a hint of narcissism. So you can't complain now ;)

This is why, I believe, it is high time you penned a decent FAQ repository where you can once and for all and authoritatively debunk all the lies and the myths and set the record straight on whatever number of items about your personal and public life you will want to write about.

Mainland Chinese who come to Hong Kong act like uncivilized savages, haha. I think most people who keep up with the news in Hong Kong, already know about the 'Chinese locusts' problem and how they behave over there.

Anyway, Winston, I just came back to Taiwan, and OMG--the difference in behavior between Taiwanese people and Mainland Chinese people is like night and day; Taiwanese people are definitely cleaner, and more well behaved than your average mainlander. But, having said that, I do think Chinese people are a lot more open and friendlier (even with their uncivilized behavior sometimes) than your average, typical, Taiwanese person--who is, as I mentioned before, too p.c. and way too reserved for my liking.

Hong Kong has a beautiful harbor and good food but it is expensive and many Cantonese are cold and abrupt. When many older Cantonese talk it sounds like they are yelling or arguing. Lol. Any of you notice that?

For lunch we were at a Cantonese restaurant and the older ladies running it were yelling at everyone with a cold tone of voice as if it were a normal thing. Weird.

Dianne says she now understands why people think the Philippines is so friendly. Lol.

You won't believe this, but during lunch today when I told the waiter I was vegetarian, she got upset and said that this is not a vegetarian place and if I ask them to go through the trouble of making a dish vegetarian for me, that they would charge me 10 HKD extra! Wtf? I've NEVER seen a restaurant want to charge me extra to make a dish vegetarian! These people have no concept of customer service whatsoever. Why is hong kong considered first world when its so crude and inconsiderate and petty and mean spirited like that? Wtf?

Also, two days ago at a vegetarian restaurant in Hong Kong they charged me 12 HKD for the free complimentary appetizer of peanuts that they gave us when we sat down. Usually if they give you an appetizer without asking, it means it's complimentary. That's common sense and everyone knows that. It goes without saying. When I complained, they said that they do charge for the appetizers that they gave me without asking and that that's their policy at that restaurant. Wtf? Again I've NEVER seen that before even though I've been to many restaurants. Hong Kong must be among the rudest cities in the world.

I'm going to mention this on my review on happycow.net and dispute it with my credit card company. That'll show them. I should have just refused the charge at the time and made a fuss about it. But I was too nice. Weird people and country. What kind of first world modern country is this?!

Winston, american service might feel fake or whatnot sometimes but it's undoubtedly one of if not the best in the world.
in other places it can be "take it or leave" type of stuff.

Also, you sound whiny and demanding, are you like that all the time man? I never argue with those serving me food...
Try to post on positive stuff too.

I think Winston should come here to Spain and learn how to relax a bit. Also the food here is amazing, meat is worshipped and there are shops that sell nothing but dried and preserved meat.

I did like Hong Kong though. I didn't know what to make of it at first but it definitely grew on me. The temples are great, and there was more of a spiritual side to the place that was missing over the border in the mainland.
