Looks like people are panicking around the world in preparation of the upcoming end of the Mayan calender:

I'm more scared of Christmas. Having a suspicious old white guy popping in your house and messing with your presents is bad news bro.
I am a terrible person.

The Mayans never said that's when the end is going to be. It's just their version of Y2K (year 2000), where the calendar system would enter a completely new epoch. Just so you know, I'll be hanging around actual Mayan people on that day. :D

Sigh, New Age scammers these days. :P

Are you sure? Then why don't they have another Calendar that goes beyond 2012? Didn't they say that the Earth renews itself and purges itself every once in a while? Some cataclysms have happened before, so why can't they happen again?

If an asteroid got near us, can't they just destroy it with a nuclear warhead or missile?

Useful idiots may be scared.
People who've been making money from this nonsense for the last 50 years are just scared they'll have to come up with a new racket.

Winston, I'm completely sure. As I've said, their calendar DOES go beyond 2012, just like ours can go beyond 1000 and 2000 and 3000. I've been doing a lot of intensive research on Mayan stuff, so trust me.

I guarantee that you and your forum will both still be around by 2013. :P

Yeah, but the second video discusses things other than Mayan prophecy, such as economic collapse and war. I feel like something may be amiss - maybe not the end of days, but who knows. The government is anticipating something. They have the military doing a lot of riot training and practice drills, and they bought a lot of suppression bullets.

I always just try to remember that truth is stranger than fiction.

The government certainly know what's up.

Why does Homeland Security need 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition?

No, I'm scared of the Honey Boo Boo - white trash women with four different fathers paying "mommy/child support":

The reason it ends in 2012 is that they hadnt enough papyrus to write in. Or did you expect a calendar that lasted forever?

Questions:

1. What about the three days of darkness that some allege will happen on December 21? Where did that idea come from? Is there any truth in it?

2. When did this Mayan Calendar start? And at the start of it, is there any evidence that any global cataclysm happened?

Here is NASA's official announcement on their website about December 21, 2012. It basically says that nothing is likely to happen.
