Muslims claim the Quran has no Variants and that allah has vowed to protect the Quran from corruption, this however is false and proves allah as a Liar at Best,or Muhammad as an insane man at least,in an Earlier post
(viewtopic.php?t=18085)
,I proved the Quran itself has Internal Variants, but Now I will focus on the External Textual Variations.
Here are some Differences between the Hafs Version of the Quran, and the Warsh version.

1:4 (al-fateha) In Hafs: MaAliki (Possessor) / In Warsh: Maliki (King)
2:125 In Hafs: Watakhizu (You shall take) / In Warsh: WatakhAzu (They have taken/made)
2:140 In Hafs: Taquluna (You say) / In Warsh: Yaquluna (They say)
2:259 In Hafs: Nunshizu (We grow them) / In Warsh: Nunshiruha (We spread them)
3:81 In Hafs: Ataytukum (I have given) / In Warsh: Ataynakum (we have given)
3:146 In Hafs: Qatal (fought) / In Warsh: Qutil (were killed)
6:96 In Hafs: Wa Jaal (Made) / Wa JaAl (Makes)
7:57 Bushra (good news) / Nushra (to disperse)
7:144 BirisalAti (my messages) / Birisalati (my message)
9:37 YuDhalu (misguided by) / YaDhilu (misguided with)
10:2 LasAhir (magician) / Lasihr (magic)
10:33 (also 10:96) Kalimat (word) / KalimAt (words)

These are just some of the differences between Warsh and Hafs versions. There are a further 8 versions with more differences.

In total there are over 200 differences between these versions that affect the meaning. (There are other differences that do not affect the meaning such as differences in verse numbering).

Some of these differences are minor but it is certainly not true that the meanings are the same.

The variations in the Quran come about due to problems with the original classical Arab script. The original version of the script was deficient. there were no vowel markings or diacritical dots to distinguish many of the consonants.

For example, the letters ba, ta and tha looked exactly the same because they did not have the dots above or below the letters to distinguish them from each other. Similarly, the letters sin and shin looked exactly the same due to the lack of dots. Few of the consonants are uniquely identifiable without these dots.

The lack of vowels and the lack of diacritical dots meant that the original Quranic scripts could not be accurately read without prior knowledge of the content. The original Arabic script was simply a mnemonic for the oral tradition.

By altering diacriticals and vowels you are altering the word itself into another recognisable Arabic word with a different meaning.

Due to the deficiencies of the script, there were many meaningful alternatives for many of the words. A simple English illustration would go like this:

the word 'dog' without vowels would be 'dg'. However, the same word 'dg' could also represent 'dig' or 'dug'. In order to accurately read the word 'dg' one would have to have prior knowledge that in this particular instance it represents 'dog' and not any of the other possibilities.

or Ham,could be hum,or him etc

The addition of diacriticals and short vowels occurred in 3 stages all after the compilation of the Uthmanic rasm:

Dots were put as syntactical marks by Abu Al-Aswad Al Doaly, during the time of Mu'awiya Ibn Abi Sufian (661-680 CE).
The letters were marked with different dotting by Nasr Ibn Asem and Hayy ibn Ya'amor, during the time of Abd Al-Malek Ibn Marawan (685-705 CE).
A complete system of diacritical marks (damma, fataha, kasra) was invented by Al Khaleel Ibn Ahmad Al Faraheedy (d. 786 CE).

some muslims may point to the Sanaa Fragments, but the Sanaa fragments are Useless as they contain no diacreticals or vowels.so you have the same problem.

noone can know wich Version of the quran is the True one.the script during muhammad's Time was too underdeveloped, and there were too many Arabic dialects and inconsistencies among muslims who memorized the Quran.

it should be noted that the muslims also cannot Agree how many Verses there are in the quran.their numbering is variating and divided amongst themselves.
