It's always good to hear both sides of a story, so you should hear what Catholic historians and apologists have to say about the dark history of the Roman Catholic Church that you've all heard about, and why they may be political lies and exaggerations spread by England.

Video description:

The following is an interview of Dr. Diane Moczar who is a historian, author and college professor. Author of, "Seven Lies about Catholic History," Dr. Moczar debunks revisionist history using documented history. She exposes the lies we have heard over and over by the enemies of the Church. Lies that have been told so loud and so often that people just accept it as truth without ever doing any true research. This is a must listen to for those interested in a factual account of history. Dr. Moczar will cover the following periods of history in this two part interview combined into one.

1) The Dark Ages: The Church brought true light to the Dark Ages. She didn't keep the world in its the darkness.
2) The Crusades: A just war or an unholy lust for blood?
3) The Inquisition: how it was not a bloodthirsty institution but a merciful (and necessary) one.
4) Catholic Church as a suppressor of progress and science: The Church actually created the University system and even has many craters on the moon named after priest scientists.
5) The Reformation: Why the 16th-century Church was not totally corrupt (as even some Catholics wrongly believe), and how the reformers made things worse for everybody
6) The Catholic Explorers to the New World: Brutal Conquest of the New World?
7) Galileo's trial: why moderns invented a myth around it to make science appear incompatible with the Catholic faith (it is not)

This was broadcast in two parts on the voiceofcatholicradio.com 1370 AM in Long Island, NY.

Here is another guy debunking myths of Catholic history. Very interesting and informative.

[Anti] Catholic Myths of History

Check us out at http://www.vericast.net — Many Catholics (practicing, or fallen-away) are rattled by what they believe to be the "dirty history" of the Catholic Church. Issues such as the the "dark" ages, Spanish Inquisition, Crusades, and charges that the Church stifles science have long brought Catholics to doubt, question, devalue the faith, or to be ashamed of the Catholic Church. But that should NOT be. The Catholic Church's "dirty history" isn't all that dirty at all. I go through each of these points one by one and explain them. Notably absent is a word on the priest sex abuse crisis. But I'm covering ancient history in this video. Not recent history. For a methodical response to the priest sex abuse crisis where I separate the myths from the facts, watch this video - http://youtu.be/bOguenZdABQ .
Here are the articles I mentioned in this video:
ARTICLE ON THE INQUISITION: http://bit.ly/TV90kh
ARTICLE ON THE CRUSADES: http://bit.ly/RELPzi

Priest Sex Crisis: The Facts!

This video addresses the facts, and disables the myths surrounding the priest sex crisis in the Catholic Church. Priests are not child molesters, they're the unappreciated, often unrecognized saints of civilization. Unfortunately some priests betray the Catholic faith, betray God, and betray the trust that children and families place in them. That isn't a problem of "The Priesthood" it's a problem of individual broken human beings, who happen to be priests.

You are missing the point. These Catholic historians are saying that the original source documents in history written at the time these "dark events" occurred, do NOT support the popular versions of them today. For instance, the historical documents about the Inquisition do not support the popular version of it that the public believes today. Same with the Crusades and Galileo.

Some Catholic webpages defending Purgatory and its support in the Bible and it's doctrine among the earliest Christian churches.
