Maybe they can't get it up and the wife still wants sex. He can either accept the wife gets it elsewhere or she will leave, taking his house, pension, assets etc. At least if he selects the men to ensure they are not interested in relationshits he can prevent her pulling a true love and leaving.

I've read some guys subconsciously try to get over their fear of getting cucked by living it. Probably just like the people that try to replicate child abuse in adulthood.
