Modern Catholic morality

Post by Cornfed »

This theory of mainstream Catholic morality was raised by a lunatic I was contesting a legal case against. He submitted a paper about Catholic morality to the court to make the argument that it was contrary to the law and therefore the judge should recuse himself if he were Catholic. While hilarious as a legal argument, perhaps his thesis has merit as social criticism.

The idea is that Catholic morality serves to resolve non-obvious disputes among low IQ people. To do this it divides people into binary classes and, all other things being equal, comes down on one or other side in a dispute. So for example, all being equal a professional trumps a layman, an employed person trumps an unemployed person, a female trumps a male, a rich person trumps a poor person, a high status person trumps a low status person and so on. Does anyone with expertise on Catholicism know whether this is the case?
