Turkey Nationals may unknowingly have full access to the EU

Post by Renata »

Turkish Nationals seem to unknowingly have full access to the EU via the Ankara Agreement made in 1963 with the European Economic Community (EEC) now known as the EU. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankara_Agreement

Individual rights under the Agreement ...

Turkish nationals legally employed in any Member States for certain periods gain rights to remain or switch employment in that state.

Turkish nationals legally employed by the same employer for one year has the right to permission from the Member States to remain in that employment

Turkish nationals legally employed for three years in a particular area of work has the right to permission from the Member States to take employment with any employer in that area.

Turkish national legally employed for four years has the right to permission from the Member State to take employment with any employer.

Turkish national who works legally as an au pair or while a student can count as a worker.

The agreement also indicates that they have the right to do business big or small.

I wonder how many other countries have old Agreements & Treaties that are over looked between or among eachother... ??

I think you are right, EU is the same organization with a different name. I have read a few treaties and have not yet found a highly useful loophole. They have very smart people checking these over carefully. So maybe this old treaty you found

--has since been fully superseded by a more recent treaty?
or
--includes right to work but not right to residency, which is separate?

But if not superceded.... and if not hamstrung by residency rules... then you may have found something that could be earthshaking in effect.

PS as an aside for the more politically minded folks on HA - I would characterize the remarkable permissive provisions of the treaty as clear evidence that Turkish/Moslem migration into Europe was a plan/conspiracy from the top, not just a temporary economic expedient. You don't give permanent rights and job mobility to temporary workers unless you really secretly want them to stay. For example, here in the states we have not been so generous with H1B workers etc. Lose your job, go home.

It's legit & a loophole into the EU. I had my lawyer friend Sergei read the whole treaty. Now I know how there were so many Turks well settled in the UK. When I lived there in 2004 Haringey was full of turks all doing well with businesses etc. I always wondered how they were there so comfortabe and well settled. Most of them not even speaking english & all the stores were written up in turkish, like the hairdressers place said Kaufor' not hairdresser and so on. I think Germany has a whole lot of Turks too, same situation. That's how they got there legally. What I do find shady is that this treaty has been tucked away & now they're tell this country that you will have access once you become an EU member state LOL

Essentially one can be self employed & pay his own tax & take up any job or do business. I will be eligible to apply for citizenship next year because I lived here in the past in 2009. I registered a realty but never really sold anything but it did cause me to be eligble, that's how I stumbled upon this treaty, I was wondering if it was worth it to apply.

renata, dual citizenship sounds fine to me. why not? take the chance. i don´t think it has negatives. you increase your options.

in the matter of the laws i don´t know the deatails but the turks came to germany because turkey requested and germany allowed because they are nato allies. after some time they were to many so the treaty was cancelled but the remaining turks have increased in numbers because of international law which allows to bring their family to germany. that´s why there numbers increased. and there are other loopholes like when you bring some specialists from turkey as workforce.

turks are very irritated because they have to have visa for the eu. that´s a constant complain. specially business people comlain alot.

Billy even though the treaty exists they still need visas, but if they use the treaty and say that they are going to country X' to do buisness & have some cash & a viable plan it should be very easy. Visa in hand & you're there. It's great for starting buisness & there's no definite rules or restrictions behind this. My lawyer cussed me out for digging this up, he said omg more turks all over the place now lol.

turks are hustlers i can´t believe that they didn´t figured it out. i saw in tv some big ass rich turks who have big contracts with german firms and still needings visas. the funny thing he didn´t get the visa the germans did not answer him. he went to court and got hundreds of thousands of euro because of lost revenue because of the visa.

you see, it doesn´t look that easy.

eu won´t make it easy to them. they still can say no and the guy has to go to court. who wants that?

how is it going in izmir? i heard there were some flootings . have you got air-con it´s getting hot now.

Billy it won't be easy but the turk businessman did appeal in the courts & got compensated. Only those who can appeal will get thir rights. those who can't, who don't care to, or just take no for an answer will get nothing.

I didn't see any flooding in izmir, I'm staying in a pine forest & it has some altitude so the house is cool. We don't have aircon. The weather is hot & irritating when I do go into the city though.

The member states have access to Turkey too, so it's not only the Turks that are out of the loop, the other member states like Belgium & Germany etc, all have the right to free movement inside of Turkey as workers, to do business, provide services & free movment of goods via customs. Billy how many languages do you speak ??
