South America- emerging immigrant hotspot

Post by ph »

Here are some articles that describe the trend of immigration to south american countries- Brazil, Chile, Argentina,

Unsurprisingly with the economic crisis in EU and USA, many of them are flocking to south america rather then USA(which was once a land of opportunity for migrants). Its like the new "american dream" for americans and europeans.

Yet so far, it seems that the easiest country to get a work permit in is in Chile and Argentina (basically a work contract and documents). Brazil seems to be open mainly for investors and business people (english teachers to a degree). Although brazil is now a immigrant hotspot,
here is a article that describes how brazil's immigration system and desire for skilled worker do NOT work out well-

While Brazil needs foreign workers, their immigration system isn't designed for that. Seems their immigration system is NOT as clear as US, Canada, Australia, europe (where its more clear based on requirements such as shortage job, income requirement, education....).

Finally, besides just their booming economies they have down there at the moment, it even helps that they have beautiful gorgeous girls down there as well for dating. Especially I think it seems contrary to what ladislav mentioned that "countries with the most beautiful women have bad economies" when Brazil and some of South America are booming at the moment.

What are your thoughts?
