Powerpeecee wrote:First let me say that I'm SO glad Winston opened this forum, gives me a place to vent, and hopefully help and be helped.

And so an Introduction,

My name is John, and over the past few years I've realized that I want to move away from the United States of America.

I've been in contact with Winston a few times via email, and I would like to be a contribution to the forum and the site if I could.

I've honestly only got enough $$$ to buy a plane ticket to somewhere, I just know that I want to go, but I don't know how to make a living abroad, or anything, I genuinely dislike the ethos of American culture and I find it to be stifling, exclusionary, and uncomfortable. The only thing that I'm sure of is that I want out.

Any Advice?

I'm currently about halfway between Memphis and Nashville, TN and I have to say moving from Memphis to the rural setting has only confirmed my suspicions that Americans simply have no intellect to speak of. I hope it's just Tennessee, because if the whole country is like this then it's in very deep trouble. The substitute for culture here seems to be endless religion. It's all Jesus this, Jesus that. All I can say to it is "meh".

I'm currently in the process of trying to find any kind of a job while I'm here to fund my move, but even that is unneccesarily difficult due to the every man for himself, help no one American culture.

I honestly don't even have a passport, I don't know how to get ahold of one expediently due to the "logjam" of applications owing to the new rules.

Like I said I need some guidance here, I had a copy of the Getting out how to leave America book, but one of my nutty friends has it and I can't get it back, I tend to befriend free spirited people, the flipside is that sometimes they can be a bit unpredictable at times. I prefer them gladly to the alternative, though.

We should take a closer look at your particular situation to get some idea as to whether you ought to leave the U.S. or not......

Your present financial situation would ONLY allow you to purchase an airplane ticket to where you might want to go. In other words, you have NO other funds available.

In your later posting, you stated you have $1500 due in no small part to the receipt of a Government check(SSI, right?) I cannot believe that Winston would advise you to "just go for it."

You really need to go for a Very Serious Reality Check, Mr. PowerPeeCee!!

Your main Post-Secondary educational qualification is some-sort of one year Computer Technician certification. You don't even have an Associate Degree?!?! :?

You also bring a very questionable skill set to the table as well. You yourself stated you're not much interested in teaching, which is how many get started when they leave the US for the first time. This is not a lightweight issue and I cannot again believe Winston would tell you that $1500 is doable. Well, I suppose $1500 is a financial war chest as opposed to the $600 that Wienie's spiritual idol, Kinga started with.

Let it be said that you are seriously lacking in both direction and focus. How old are you, anyway?? Are you in Winston's Primary Idiot Demographic?? I'm guessing that might be the case with you.

At this time, I'd really recommend you seriously build your skills and focus before even giving ANY thought to leaving the USA.

So you're saying I have to suffer through years and years of school before I can hope to accomplish anything, in your Conformist, Careerist mindset nothing is possible without being part of the system.

No thanks.

What is it with the flamers?

I ask for help and all I get is "OLOLOL YOU Suck!"

take a hike and don't come back if all you can do is feed me that gotta go to school stuff.

Take your careerism somewhere else.

Now, does _anyone_ have anything constructive to say or are you all bastards? I'm getting tired of this.

Powerpeecee...this board is going to get straightened out someday soon.
Don't take it personally all this negativity.

Maybe try Fedex in Philipines. DHL, Fedex, and others are worldwide and thats what your background is in.

1500 would probably give you enough money to check things out, maybe for a month, two. Check priceline for tickets.

I'm not taking it personally, doing so on the internet is always foolish.

However, someone needs to say "hey jackass, cool it" when these types want to harsh everything you do and say.

I'd really like to see this board become something great, and I'm willing to help with that as I am able.

FedEx is not an option. I quit from there in June.

Didn't have the best record there anyway, I'm not much for just putting up with whatever your employer puts you through. FedEx put me through a lot, and I put up with it for 6 years.

No more.

I guess I'd have to get hired at DHL or somesuch here first, eh? That would be hard considering I'm out in the country now. No Distribution hubs here.

Thanks for the encouraging words, gmm567. Glad to see someone making a worthwhile contribution.

I don't know what your interest in internet business possibilities might be, but I believe Winston once posted a bit of information (I believe it was from DoshDosh) on ways to make money on the internet. Paid blogging, ad supported content, digital product sales and affiliate sales are all viable possibilities. SBI (Site Build It) also has a number of members who were able to move overseas thanks to the profitability of their sites.

I would check the Dhl, etc foriegn web sites, and apply there. Or call them internationally

Or go visit, and drop in--see whether you can't get hired.

You have experience in that field. If there are no bridges burned here, it might be the best shot for you. Otherwise you might get stuck here saving, and saving--and that's hard to do too.

PPC,
Going to school isn't careerism, for starters.

But let's get more to the point here. Winston advised you to go for it with $1500 and then, what? How are you going to live after you arrive in a foreign country? What will you do for income?

Winston, who it seems you're accepting as Guru, gets money from his papa. Winston is also nuts, not to mention extremely dishonest. This is NOT a flame against Winston. It is a warning for those who would blindly believe him and follow his advice. Did you know that Winston's first posts on the Internet, about seven years ago, were about his emergence from treatment for schizophrenia to an attempt at something like a normal life? Do you know anything about that? Ask him yourself, on this forum, if you wish, and see what he has to say about it.

It's easy for him to pass advice to you to "go for it" on the basis on what you have to work with, $1500. What he fails to note, because it isn't part of his cocoon, is that such advice is bogus and will not and cannot work. It didn't and doesn't work for him. He gets a little money selling bogus "advice", but most of it comes from his papa, from mental disability payments from US taxpayers (including girls who won't have anything to do with him), and would-be friends such as Stefan. Stefan really tried to help Winston, and you see what happened there. Now Winston trashes Stefan whilst claiming that Stefan is the bad guy. Never mind that Stefan PAID for Winston to get to the Philippines to start with, and got him started enough to have his own room, at least -- not a cheap ticket, overall. Several thousand dollars. What did Stefan get? Trashed, by Winston. Stefan also offered Winston gainful employment -- which Winston spat on because Winston is mentally incapacitated (schizophrenia, according to his own accounts) and CANNOT function in a normal job.

So, are we all bastards for bringing these things up? For giving information that maybe you don't want to hear? Simply: Winston is mentally ill, by his own admission and history he himself posted on the web years ago. You don't know about that part, do you? He will use you, lie to you, lie about you, anything at all, to make a dollar and get away with with it. He will give you bad advice, such as "go for it" if you have only $1500, and never tell you that DOES NOT work, never go into the part that it is mostly his dad's money and bailouts again and again that keeps Winston going. "So what if my parents give me money from time to time" or something like that he wrote in another thread least week. Well, "so what" is all the difference in the world. He cannot live by the advice he offers/tries to sell you and others, and remotely mentions and admits his parents (mainly his dad) pays his expenses. That is, where Winston can't sucker somebody like Stefan to foot his expenses, then trash them if they get fed up and try to stop. Which is EXACTLY what happened with Stefan.

FWIW, I'm not a conformist myself, nor am I career-minded. What I AM is a US expatriate (educated) who has lived in eastern Europe for most of the past decade. I have no interest or intention of returning to the US under ANY circumstances, and on that point of alienation from my home country and all the negatives I've come to despise, I agree with Winston entirely. But his advice on getting out and making the shift is bogus bullshit. Using people, lying about hidden resources from family, all the while pretending to be able to make it on his own and suggesting he can help you do the same whilst hiding or bullshitting the MOST pertinent, relevant facts, is devious, dishonest. I make an honest living, and no, I can't tell you how to do that if you're not willing to at least prepare yourself for a life abroad. That means either education to make yourself useful enough to derive income wherever you decide to go; or, have enough cash on hand so that income is not necessary. Where you are now, with no marketable skills or knowledge, $1500 cash, is not enough to make the transition. Either get more education, more money, or both. And do NOT make the mistake of thinking that doing either or both of those equates to conformism or careerism. They DO equate to sufficient maturity and understanding of basic reality in this world to be able to begin to tailor your own world and life as you wish.

I sincerely wish you you the very best in your quest to escape the US for a better life abroad.

You'll notice that this guy speaks of "hidden resources," but Winston has actually been open about that stuff--check the threads.

Yea, these people are liars.

Some people will just GO FOR IT, and things will work out. Most people won't. They'll plan and research before making the jump.
I'd recommend doing the later.

If you go an visit for a time, you can look for a job.

Where has Winston mentioned the mental disability payments he gets from the US? That would be SSI, or Supplemental Security Income, reserved solely for US citizens suffering from disability preventing them from being able to hold a job.

Furthermore, "checking the threads" for info about his income from his family (which includes SSI payments plus some extra from his dad) requires a LOT of digging around. It's hardly open, and not readily available, unless somebody goes digging through the threads. Even then, he finally concedes that he does get money from his family, but no mention of mental disability payments. Nor any mention of how he managed to scam US taxpayers for unemployment payments which helped subsidize his first trips to Russia. Whatever he's finally 'fessed up to in these threads has been chiseled out of him, and he finally admitted some of it. Just the part about his family paying his way.

Some of the advice I've seen in various quarters which resonated with me is that, if you're going to move a place like the Phillipines or Mexico for a decade or more, its good to either a. have 50,000 to 100,000 in savings or b. have a means of making money in America or Europe, such as an online business.

I'd love to visit the Phillipines someday when I have some more money in my pocket, but if I'm going to work permanently in other countries, western and eastern europe would be more to my liking (cept for Britian. If this guy at http://eternalbachelor.wordpress.com/ is to be believed, feminism and nanny state socialism in Britian are even more out of control than they are in America).

Hanging out with bar girls in the Philippines does sound like a blast, but I agree with others who pointed out that its really nothing to go patting oneself on the back over.

Yes, Winston is right. Often times people who are actually depressed show the symptoms of schizophrenia and are wrongly diagnosed with that label. Since he had trouble describing the obsessive rituals of Obessive/compulsive disorder to the Psychiatrists, there was some indication of disorganized thinking which is characteristic of schizophrenics. Depressed people also show poor organization in their thinking, hence the confusion.

You don't get over schizophrenia. People do recover from depression, and thats what happened. Winstons description of how the symptoms lifted when he was removed from the environment he was in is the classic description of people recovering from major/debilitating depression.Furthermore, the other label, Obessive/compulsive disorder is almost always treatable, and those who suffer can lead a normal ,happy life.

There's no stigma to these mental health issues anymore, and I am disgusted at the attempt to smear.Winston has been open and forthright about the depression and OCD that he suffered from. I could care less whether he gets SSI. Better him getting government money than all the people who are breeding on welfare generation after generation.

Thanks for your help dipshit...you're out of your league.

Read carefully, maestro. There was warning for people to not take advice from a mentally ill person. You might not care whether or not he gets SSI for mental disability, but that is entirely irrelevant. THAT point was that Winston has NOT been forthcoming in explaining how and where he gets income to be able to live abroad. The little weasel was born in Taiwan, emigrated to the US, and now lives back near where he came from, on the public dole and generosity of US taxpayers -- including women who despise him, because they see through him and his hypocrisy, no doubt. And he gets off bashing ALL of it. America is terrible etc. etc. and all the women too, except America is the source of 100% of his cash whereby he lives abroad where he came from, and has the luxury of bashing America at America's expense.

Thanks for your help dipshit...you're out of your league.

You're welcome. I might agree about the out of the league part. I don't usually spend much time in Little League, but visit token locales from time to time -- such as when I'm alerted that people might be prone to taking advice from a devious mentally ill person.

Enishi,
In that you're demonstrating an unusual amount of common sense, I'll drop a hint. Set up a business in your home country -- the US, I presume in your case -- that can benefit from a foreign office. A software business is ideal, for one example. Then, go open the foreign office in the country or countries of your choice. Voila! An established business, with income derived from it.

Just an idea. It works. It's also what Stefan is doing, based in the US and biz activities in the Philippines. Winston had a chance for job and income, but we all know now what happened with that.
