What can we be doing in the mean time?

Postby zacb » Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:05 pm

I know we should try and start a side hustle(check), learn a new language (not quite yet), meet people online from where we are going (check), simplify our lives (somewhat check), among other things. What else could we be doing while we bide our times in our home countries?

I don't quite understand but I'll take a stab at it...

1) Reduce your expenses as much as possible. Don't bother with banks, saving rate is not 1.75%. Unless you have a ton of money its not worth it. The best investment of 2012 has been Silver, which started I believe around $20 in Jan of 2012 and currently has been knocking on the door of $35.00 an oz ($34.54).

Gold is an option, many believe it will reach $2K an oz by year's end, its currently at $1776 an oz. At the start of the crisis in mid 2007 it was $600 an oz.

Pay attention the crisis as it unfolds, you may get an idea on which places to move too and which investments to make. I suggest blogs like Naked Capitalism, Marketplace, Max Keiser and Peak Prosperity.

If you have cable TV you can afford to cut the cord especially if you don't watch most of the channels and what you watch can be found on the internet.

2) Re-train in a field that is portable, a field will allow you to work overseas. Short of that, look into making money on internet. Many do, you just have to take that risk.

I don't know why learning another language is important. It can be useful but its difficult for adults. Not impossible but its ideal you live in a country where the language you learn is constantly used.

The only language I consider worthwhile to learn is Spanish. Its is widely spoken and somewhat easy to learn overall.

Other than that, make a plan and start working on it.

What I am doing goes slowly, I get GA the 6th of every month, EBT Food the 9th and can donate between 8-9 times a month for plasma.

The target is $400 a month to make it work, I can earn a bit less but not much less.

Target is $3000 after nine months, max is $3700 but not likely. I have some silver, if it keeps going up in value, I will have more than $3,000 depending how many coins I end up with, I am trying to have as many as 18 coins or 18 oz, currently at $34.54 will cost $639.72, that's two a month between now and March 2013. However I may buy the other 16 coins the end of next month at the total price I listed above.

Many outlets are saying not only Gold will hit $2k by years end, that Silver will hit $50 by years end. Just the price value increasing from $35 to $50 means = $900 ($260.28 increase in value). It has to hit about $72 for 100% profit or about $1250.

That may happen sometime in 2013... Any increase in value is a positive however.

But I am also starting my online presents, I have a minor one currently but they are undergoing major changes and will be able to share the things I am passionate about, help people and make some money in the process.

I think djfourmoney hit it on the head, but to elaborate further:

1) Learn how to unlearn all of the nonsense Western society has indoctrinated you with( i.e "America is great"," There are terrorists overseas", pledges to the flag, etc.). Learn to be a more conscious individual. See things nobody else sees, and you'll go where nobody else goes.

2)Develop hobbies.

3) Learn the customs/ methods of the culture you're entering. Don't appear like too many Americans do, as a tourist, when you travel.

4) Adopt the frugal lifestyle.

Good stuff so far. To add to this, my advice will be in bold.

ChosenTraveler wrote:I think djfourmoney hit it on the head, but to elaborate further:

1) Learn how to unlearn all of the nonsense Western society has indoctrinated you with( i.e "America is great"," There are terrorists overseas", pledges to the flag, etc.). Learn to be a more conscious individual. See things nobody else sees, and you'll go where nobody else goes. Want a formidable stepping stone? STOP READING ANYTHING WRITTEN BY A WOMAN. Cut the books, magazine articles, "advice", forum rants, blogs, columns, etc. out and your natural masculinity will have a way in for a change.

2)Develop hobbies. Want a valuable hobby? Martial arts. The truth is that in some instances "blue pillers" or "manginas" will actually try to pose physical harm on you for speaking freely if you're in the wrong environment. Living in Chicago, where ignorant, racist, blue pill fucktards is the industry standard, I've had the misfortune of encountering such manginas and had to defend myself. I was ready. I wanna make damn sure YOU are ready, too.

3) Learn the customs/ methods of the culture you're entering. Don't appear like too many Americans do, as a tourist, when you travel. Learning the language is the best tool. From there, foreigners (who would otherwise judge you as a "lowly gringo/mayate (cracker/nigger) looking to steal our women") have no choice but to judge the content of your character and realize that you've taken the time to speak the language, so you must be legit. This of course is the worse case scenario. The best case scenario is they accept you off the bat, and then love you when you can formulate a sentence better than the natives!

4) Adopt the frugal lifestyle. Yes! Cut back on the crap! Start adjusting your life RIGHT NOW as if there is a taxi headed to your house soon to pick you up and drop you off at the airport. Can everything you own fit in 1 or 2 bags and 1 carry-on? You're going overseas, you DO NOT need that sofa and loveseat, you DO NOT need that drum set, you DO NOT need that airsoft gear that's collecting dust, you DO NOT need that HDTV, you DO NOT need that snowblower, you DO NOT need more than 5 pairs of shoes. Compact your possessions. There was a time when I was frantic and I made a thread here about the "SO MANY" possessions that I had: my digital keyboard, MIDI keyboard, bass amplifier, bass guitar, tool kit, guitar, CD album collection, art supplies, bed sheets/blankets, excess pairs of shoes that I mistook for essentials, and so much clutter! Today NONE of that stuff remains, and I feel alive! Living frugal has worked wonders for me. If you are looking to adopt a similar lifestyle, like I said, downsize EVERYTHING you own to where it can fit into 1 or 2 full-size bags and 1 carry-on. If you can not do this, guess what, that sports equipment gotta go... those model airplanes gotta go... that microwave oven gotta go... and so on.

All_That_Is-Man,

I agree with all of the above. I contend that many men aren't ready to go abroad, for they carry too much baggage from Western shores. If one is to fully embrace the world, he must do so with a new mentality of exploration and courage.

This society encourages men to be idle as well unfortunately( with women working full time and receiving greater income than men). Therefore, American men, who are purely devoid of social skills and experience with relationships, lack the motivation to create any unique lifestyle for themselves.
