Jay,
I don't know how much English teachers make in Columbia or Costa Rica. You might want to ask that question at Dave's ESLCafe.com.

If the women there are very feminine and sweet and passionate, you should be able to find one that likes you for you, even if you're poor. It's only a matter of time. Some women will go for you if you are very romantic and sweet. It melts the heart of a truly feminine woman.

You can also try working as a freelancer. I've posted links and sites that refer you to such work in my FAQ page:

Hey Winston,

Kudos on creating this website to spread the truth. This site is chockful of useful information. I am fairly well traveled myself and the way you broke down the situation here in the US is unparalleled. I am all stoked up on traveling to Russia but am concerned about the violence towards foreigners. Did you experience any of this in any of your trips there? In a couple of pictures of you in Russia, i noticed that you had a black eye. Were you attacked by some Russian skinheads/thugs?

Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony. Welcome to the forum. Thank you for appreciating my work on this site and the taboo truths presented in it. The reason some of my comparisons and observations are unparalleled is because 1) they are taboo and most people are afraid to talk or write about them, 2) we are programmed not to see taboo truths. Instead, we are programmed to only say that everyone/most people are friendly and wonderful, or to blame ourselves, and never to blame society.

Well I was mugged once by street punks (not skinheads). But it didn't even have to happen. I went to Cherepovets to deliver some VHS tapes to my ex Katya and Julia of our times together, cause the Russian postal service wouldn't deliver them for some reason when I sent them from the US. So I was too nice and also an anal perfectionist in that leaving something undone gives me anxiety. Most guys would not have gone out of their way to deliver something like that to two people that wronged them in the past. I guess being too nice was one of my weaknesses, as well as a perfectionistic personality that hates to leave things undone.

But the point is, the mugging didn't have to happen. Had I not tried to correct the mistake of the postal service, I would never have experienced it. So it was totally avoidable and unnecessary. Thus it doesn't have to happen to you.

I might have been able to stay in a hotel that night too, which would have avoided the whole incident. But Julia told me the year before that I could not stay in one without registration in the city first, which might not have been true since there is a lot of misinformation in Russia and plus I might have been able to bribe my way past that.

I got on the national news in Russia for that incident. You can read all about what happened in my journal here:
http://www.happierabroad.com/Cherepovets_Mugging.htm

As to skinheads, yeah the danger is there. But the odds are still generally on your side as long as you don't wander in bad places at night. If you stay in touristy areas in the day and have escorts around you at night, or stick in groups, you will be fine. Having street smarts and a sixth sense about people

The media always blows things out of proportion and focuses on bad news, not good news.

Why do you have to pay per hour for your Internet now?
In the Philippines I do, cause I don't get free internet there anymore. And I don't want to sign up for service cause it requires a two year contract. So I just use a USB stick that has credits like a cell phone where you pay per hour. You insert your cell phone SIM card into the USB and plug it into your computer and it gets wireless signals from the cell phone towers. It's not very good and slow and drops a lot. But it's better than nothing.

Either that, or I go to internet cafes.

I'm trying to make it so that I can do most of my work offline though.
Will this be the experience for everyone who goes to the Philippines?
I was planning on just bringing my laptop or buying one there and using wireless. Would that be too difficult or costly?

hey Winston,

I just got finished watching several parts of your Foreign Women film/video.
And I had to wonder: Would you have had the same results if you weren't filming?
As we know, women love to be on camera and of course they don't want to look like bitches when they are, so could many of them have just been playing nice for the camera?
I ask because I had no such luck during the several months I spent in Europe 4 years ago. Maybe I should bring a camera along next time?

You got things backward my friend. Those girls were actually more friendly and jovial OFF CAMERA than on camera. When I filmed is when they stiffened up more. I know cause I was there firsthand and saw the difference. If people act more friendly on camera, it will be an act and look pretentious. That wasn't so in those videos. Very open and direct people do not act more open on camera. They usually stiffen up a tad bit if they are shy and sweet girls, or they put on a show (like Julia and Katya did). So you sort of have it backward.

But that's an interesting question anyway.

It depends on where you live. Some apartments have internet included. Others don't. You can go to many hotels and cafes and use your laptop with wireless there too. Or you can use internet cafes. Or you can pay for service but you'll have to sign up under someone's name.

Most guys find a way to use the internet there. Don't worry about it.

Winston how come people say Filipinas are friendly but the ones in America don't seem friendly(never seem to smile) and in many ways seem more arrogant/cliquish than any white women? does America change women that much?

Sometimes. It depends on how young they are when they go to the US. But as to me, the Filipinas I met in the US seem far friendlier than the white women. They were a lot more easy going to talk to, at least in CA they were. I had some Filipina friends in CA before, and they were more comfortable to talk to. I could have dated some if I wanted to. But I was obsessed with white chicks at the time. I wish I could go back and date some of them. Would have been nice to have a girl to go to the drive in movies every Friday night :)

What state are you from?

Winston I live in Washington State the town Silverdale has a high percentage of Filipinos, I get/got more attention from white women than I ever did from filipinas or Chinese girls my only theory as to why is because i am neither Asian or a WASPY looking white I look more Mediterranean with pale skin. I was thinking probably certain races do better in certain races/ country's than others? I remember you said East Asian males don't click well with Eastern European women? perhaps its the same with Biracial white/Latino males and Asian women I rarely see this pairing?

Silverdale? That sound familiar. I think I've been there before. Isn't that a really small town?

There aren't many minorities at all in Washington. It's very anglo and pale skin white. People that move to WA are usually cliquish and distant and prefer to be that way and see that as normal. The types that are attracted to WA are a different breed.

How much does your website make in monthly ad revenues, affiliate revenues, other revenues and e-book sales?

Before any expenses like hosting, DNS or such.

Why do you want to know this? Are you planning to start a website too?

I won't disclose specific numbers, since publicizing such stuff usually jinxes me, but I will say that I am making 3 or 4 times what I was last year.

The hosting fees are really nothing. I pay $10 a year for the domain name and $7 a month for the hosting space through Godaddy on their deluxe plan (which I had to upgrade to in order to install a forum on this site, since the basic plan doesn't let you switch to a Unix server required for forums to run). So you can pretty much say that the costs of running this site are almost none. It's mostly the time and energy cost of it.

Are you back in Philippines now? Last I checked, I thought you had left RP for Taiwan. You said the muggy, hot climate was really killing you. Have you acclimated to it?
And what parts of RP have you been to already?
