Sorry to keep this topic alive but...

I suspect you have very low metabolism and maybe low testosterone too. Some things you should consider carefully

- one meal a day is not a healthy way to eat and will definitely not stimulate your metabolism. Your body may kick-in to starvation mode where it conserves calories. lowers your energy level, and does its best not to burn fat. Many health experts and exercise pros advocate the opposite - eating lots of very small but healthy meals and snacks throughout the day, like 6 times. This has worked well for me when I wanted to lose weight. In Thailand, I also noticed a lot of slim locals seemed to snack on stuff almost constantly but it was halfway decent stuff healthwise.

- to kick-in your metabolism, you also need to build some muscle, and shrink your fat cells. To do this, you need to get used to doing some type of intense lean body building activity like 3 times a week. Best to involve your legs, chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, lats, and abs. A few compound exercises such as various types of pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and lunges could do wonders if you did them in the right way, quantity, and timing.

- even though you may have had a pot belly in the 90s, your face shape was more tapered and attractive then. Part of that may be due to you having higher testosterone levels. Hormones affect the way fat collects in your face and belly. Why not have your free and total testosterone levels checked and see where they fall. If they are not at a healthy level for someone in their 20s (even tho u r older than that), you could consider applying some sort of cream or gel daily to get it back up.

If you really committed yourself to the right sort of eating and exercise regimen, you might end up feeling under 30 again and look a hell of a lot better too. This is not meant as criticism but rather a reminder that you could look and feel a lot better if you were willing to make some short temporary sacrifices - short term pain for longer term gain. Changing bad habits is often challenging but can ultimately pay off in spades.

Well said, you beat me to it. One meal a day is terrible. Weight loss is almost always going to be counter-intuitive to what a human naturally thinks. Women eat less and eat salads once a day thinking it will work, and they just get fatter...

Boost your metabolism by eating several small meals.

Example: Breakfast (carbs are okay) + Snack (nuts like cashews, almonds, peanuts, etc) + Lunch (break your lunch in half and eat half of it for 30 mins, wait another hour then eat the rest) + snack (nuts or fruits) + smoothie/shake + workout (light or heavy doesn't matter) + light dinner + sleep

You can adjust this to your liking. Try hard not to drink beer for a week or two while you do this. 4 weeks is ideal because the estrogen increases that alcohol gives wears off by then. if you can do something like this for 2 months, you will look probably transformed.

The only caveat is that your testosterone is probably too low for your age. You can go to the doctor and they can do this as part of your yearly physical and most insurance will cover it, especially for your age group. Beware of your doctor though because many do not understand what a normal level is supposed to be for a man. General practitioner's think 300 is fine, but that is not really true. Before the 80's men on average had around 400+. Don't just take my word for it, research it yourself too. You can always go to a "Men's Clinic" that specializes in this issue too if you want to avoid your usual doctor.

Also a blood test is better and more accurate than a urine test, although it costs a little more usually. If you go the blood route try to blend it in with your annual blood work for your yearly physical, and if it is low take the results to a men's health clinic and let them help you boost it. You can also do your own research and boost it yourself naturally (harder) or with any of the MANY products out there. Be careful though because you do not want to boost too high and not cycle it down properly because your glands will create alot of estrogen to attempt to regulate your body and then all the food you eat will make you fat. Typically bodybuilders and pro athletes have this problem, you probably wont though.

The Thai way of having lots of meals a day is definitely worth a go.

Although I have to say there are a heck of a lot of overweight Thais - especially compared to China. There are school kids who weigh more than I do. I guess it's all that fried chicken and stuff.

I lost weight in China because there wasn't anything I wanted to eat.

Testosterone can be improved by finding something sexually new. Men always like new things. I found something new here that's a huge turn on. Well several things actually :)

Only actual, vigorous, regularly and perhaps daily sex improves testosterone, but it's only a relatively small amount. If you drink enough alcohol you can actually negate that increase.

I also forgot to add that masturbation does not increase testosterone. The reason why is because your body knows the difference because that ejaculation is not a "real one" to your brain controlling hormone release.

Asian Ginseng or Korean Ginseng, bulgarian tribulus, and some other things can level or slightly improve it too. Stuff like Viagra, Bilberry, just increases bloodflow and circulation, so if your sex drive and testosterone is low, you wont get hard either.

In 2003, there was a research study done on the testosterone levels in males during certain periods of abstaining from ejaculation. It found that there was a gradual increase in testosterone levels during the first five days but on days six and seven there was a huge spike, up to a 147% increase in testosterone on day seven. After day seven, testosterone levels returned to normal, thus indicating that seven days is the effective number of days to abstain from ejaculating in order to hit peak levels of testosterone.

The reason why it can take up to 7 days for it to peak again, is because your body has to make more sperm again so your brain gives instructions for that to happen. Sex/Masturbation causes a a release of T in general. The reason why jacking off does not cause an increase as much as intercourse is because of two things: Intercourse is more strenuous on the body (like a workout, which by itself can improve T levels) and ejaculations are more powerful than masturbation types. The more powerful the ejaculation will make your glands send instructions to your testicles to create much more, because of the amount that was lost, and it also *thinks* you are needing this in order to make offspring to spread genes, etc.

We can fool ourselves, but it is harder to fool the body. Overall the effect it still a small and temporary one. If you haven't ejaculated in a long time, there is no reason for your brain to instruct more T be made, it will just make enough to recycle the unused/non-fresh sperm cells that eventually will die swimming around bored in your nuts.

You need to get off as many refined sugars, carbs and starches as possible and EXERCISE.

This includes sodas and even fruit drinks that have a lot of sugar.

Too much bread in your body can also add too many pounds.

Even if you exercise but you still eat bad, you're still not going to lose any weight.

DIET + EXERCISE = WEIGHT LOSS

Most people who complain they can't lose weight are capable of losing weight, it's because they don't want to.

Regular exercise builds up your metabolism.

Or you can do what I do, which is get a testosterone shot every three weeks.

If you're low on testosterone Winston, or anyone else for that matter, it definitely makes a difference. Get tested and get the shot. You'll be happy you did.

Also, Xiongmao, I wasn't aware there is a "Thai way" of having lots of meals a day. Some women are grazers and nibble on stuff all day but the Thais that I know, my wife included, eat three meals a day with one or two snacks.

I've been to China twice and I'm not sure why you couldn't find anything to eat. Are you a picky eater? I didn't eat much street food and we were taken care of on one of the trips so we ate very well. The Peking duck we had regularly was awesome, as was the Moo Shu pork and whatever else we had. Once in a while they'd throw something like chicken feet into the mix, which I don't like. I'll have to roll out some of the photos of the lunches and dinners we had.

It's too bad you're a vegetarian Winston. If you went on a high protein diet + strength training + slight caloric deficiency, you would lose the stomach easy. You wouldn't even have to do a single situp or any cardio at all. But strength training as a vegetarian is a challenge considering your main source of protein would only be soy based which increases estrogen.

If you plan on doing only all cardio, you will lose fat overall but you will just become "skinny fat". All that cardio will also burn off muscle and you will just end up looking the same, but just a smaller version. The body doesn't just burn fat in a targeted area, that's why doing situps and crunches are a waste of time. Situps/crunches are only good to create more definition and strengthen the core. Losing fat starts in the kitchen.

Also with strength training, don't train over 1 hour. If you train for too long, your body releases cortisol and starts to burn muscle tissue. This is also what happens with excessive cardio.

Getting T shots definitely will help you. The more Testosterone you have, the easier it is to burn fat. Have you considered eating meat? What is your main reason for being a vegetarian anyway? Just curious..

Gary Taube's book "Why we get fat and what to do about it" really sets out a compelling case for strictly limiting carbs and that includes what is traditionally considered healthy food choices like fruit and whole grains.

Dr Oz had him on his show. I love Oz but he's all about limiting food intake and eating a balanced diet which includes whole grains and fruits. Taubes takes a completely different approach and promotes eating lots of high protein and high fat foods and vegetables with very low carb value (e.g spinach, green beans and cabbage). I followed Taubes plan and even replaced milk (which has lactose/sugar) in my coffee with cream. The weight started to fall off rapidly and eventually I lost my sugar cravings.

I only really feel happy when I'm doing resistance training and I'm on a low carb regime. More than makes up the lack of p***y in my life (almost). Of course, I know if I get a gf, I'll pack in the weight again.

Hi all,
Wow I just went out with a hot Ukrainian girl I met on Couchsurfing. Wait til you guys see her photos!

Also, this hot Asian girl in Vegas wrote me on OkCupid. She grew up in Europe and was born in Russia, so she's been exposed to the same cultures as me. Wow what an unusual girl. She's looking for someone to hang out with here. Wow. It's unusual for a hot girl like that to write me out of nowhere!
