Which US states are friendly or unfriendly?

Post by zacb »

Could you give me your experience with various states? I have lived in Michigan (Northern) for most my life, and it seems what while they are nice to you at first, after a honeymoon period people don't like you as much (with a few exceptions). It seems unless you are in a clique, you are kinda screwed. What have your experiences been with various states and provinces (for Canada)?

Liberal states on average are less friendlier than conservative states.

Haven't tried to join a clique in recent memory, but (outside of shady places and one-off idiots) customer service is trending better and better. :D

Yeap. I learned that the hard way. Well except Alabama. Alabama wasn't mean; it was just closed-minded
when it came to interracial dating and miscegenation.

But states like Arizona and non-gringo Texas (San Antonio, El Paso, Southern TX), I was smashing White women and light-skinned Tejana/Chicanas 2nd naturedly.
Even Houston I was doing alright with Black American and South African mulatto women.

But Dallas and Austin, I don't do so well with any race of women there.

I'd agree with you on that one. I'd also say the farther north you go the least friendly folks become.

Interesting responses, especially comments about more liberal states / northern states being less friendly. Depends on what you mean by "friendly".

As recent as ten years ago, I used to do a lot of travelling in the U.S. My observation and experiences was that I found most people in the Southern states to be unfriendly (read: wary, intolerable, subtly racist) to strangers, "Yankee city-slickers", non-Caucasian types and anybody considered to be an outsider or foreigner. This was also applicable if your experiences and ideas differed from them. As I got to know some of those "good 'ol boys', I found them to be very closed-minded, opinionated, and discriminatory in general. This was especially evident in small/mid-size towns.

The Midwest and Northern states were more tolerant, civil, open-minded and accepting of diversified ideas and people, albeit indifferent, which I didn't mind. I had no problems in Vancouver, Victoria, B.C. either.

Depends on what you mean by friendly. Most people think politeness is friendliness, even if no one wants to go out out or hang out with them or invites them anywhere. So their definition is their different from ours.

If you mean superficial friendliness then some states are good for that such as Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Kentucky, Texas, etc. Basically I find that people who live around beautiful nature are more calm, relaxed and easygoing, such as in Colorado or Utah. They aren't as toxic or angry as people in Los Angeles for sure.

I have a question for you all. If we moved to conservative Republican US states such as Utah, Texas, Kentucky, Wyoming, Nebraska, etc, would have better social connection and make friends more easily, since those states have people that share some of our values and are probably more down to earth than liberal states like California, Washington state, and New York are?

I agree, there is no southern hospitality in the northern states, everyone seems to hide in their houses and not socialize with anyone.

I can vouch that Carson City, the state capitol of Nevada, has a warm friendly vibe. It also feels relaxed too. People drive slow and no one is in a rush or honks at you for driving too slow. Kind of like Utah. Plus strangers smile at each other and will make small talk more easily. It's a small relaxed town. When I go to the hot springs there, people talk to me, including foreign families and American rednecks. lol. Not saying that the girls are open or are approachable or easy to pick up. But the older folks and men there are pretty friendly, relaxed and down to earth. They smile a lot and greet strangers with some real warmth. It has a nice vibe too. Makes you feel relaxed and at ease. The atmosphere and vibe feel down to earth too.

It's also next to the Moonlight Bunny Ranch brothel complex. lol. And up the hill is Virginia City, the historic town where Mark Twain acquired his pen name when he lived there and wrote for the paper in the 1840's. Before that he was Samuel Clemens. Virginia City is perched on a mountain top and has a very nice vibe too. The people there can have a hot temper. But they are friendly and talkative, since they are trying to live in the 1800's and promote Old West tourist attractions and buildings.

So Virginia City and Carson City are among the friendliest towns in America that I've been to. I lived there for a while in 2001. About 8 months. I did acting there and got an American girlfriend from a Wicca group. She was hot and made love like the devil. I really wished it could have lasted longer. Never had sex like that since. Why can't the best memories last longer?

Even though Carson City is in the same state of Nevada as Las Vegas, it's vibe is far different. About 40 minutes away from Carson City is Reno, NV of course, where people from the SF Bay Area go for vacation and gambling and casinos. Reno is ok. It has nice parts but some ghetto areas too. It isn't as depressing as Las Vegas though, and still sort of has a frontier vibe since it's a small city with very light traffic. So it doesn't have the dark vibe of Las Vegas, which is similar to LA. Reno I think has a friendlier vibe. The traffic is always light and it's easy to move around.

These are the States I've been to and have experienced:

Generally, I think Republican controlled States are wayyyyyy better than libtard dominated States on the coast and in the north of the country.

I've lived in Texas for about a year and I have some pretty good impressions about the place. Here are my observations: First of all, there a ton of hot Mexican/Hispanic chicks there (although they seem kind of 'stuck up' in some ways), and I love Tex Mex food. I especially liked San Antonio, Dallas, and the area around Lackland Air Force Base. The humid weather gets on your nerve after a while, though.

I have to say, Georgia is a good State with friendly people. Even all the Black people in Georgia are friendly, unlike urban Blacks in liberal cities like California and New York City. The funny thing is...on many dating ads and craigslist/backpage ads, I've seen so many Black woman who strictly advertise that they won't date/sleep with young Black men, which is f***ed up in a way.

As for New York City, I have a love/hate relationship with the city: it's a good place to find attractive and single woman but the rude people, long commute times, high cost of living, the taxes and the stressful lifestyle made me hate the place after a while. Taxes in the city are ridiculous, especially the property taxes, and the taxes taken out of my paycheck to pay for welfare dependent bums who don't deserve the handouts. I also dislike the racism there, especially the racism coming from racist Blacks, obnoxious racist guidos and cliquish Asians. Of course, there are many cool people there, too. I guess it depends on who you associate with?

Ohio: Too cold for my liking. In the Winter time, it's bone chilling cold there. Plus, there aren't any jobs left there, as most of the manufacturing has left the States. Decent cost of living, but it's a bit boring there. Nothing special or unique about the city. The people seem really unfriendly, especially in cities like Youngstown and Cleveland. (Maybe due to it becoming a rust belt State leading to unhappy people?)

New Jersey: Can't stand that State. It has the same problems has NYC, including overly high taxes and obnoxious people.

In libtard states like California and Nevada, people were rude, stuck up snobs. In a Republican state like Utah, people were nice, friendly and chatty. The only bad thing about Utah is girls get married in their early to mid twenties.

I think it depends where you are from, your personality, race, and if you are liberal or not.

I found Georgia Texas Nevada Idaho Kansas to be very friendly to me, especially the type of men Americans would call good Ole boys. If you are a Good White Man such people take to you. If i was non white, a liberal race mixer, the reaction would be very different.

NY and California were shit holes. Full of plastic obnoxious people, faggots, weirdos, multiculti, rude, and bad attitude. Of course if you are a street nigger this would be preferable.

Metropolitan coastal Washington (Seattle, Everett, Bellingham) is polite but not friendly. In general, these are people who are more than happy to stop and let you cross the street, let you merge into traffic, or let you by in a crowd. But they are not people who generally want anything to do with you deeper than the niceties. Many of them won’t even say good morning or various other greetings back to you (“Why should I say that when I don’t care about this person?”). Rural Washington is a bit better, but it really depends on the area and what sort of condition it’s in. In terms of big-ish cities, the only one I would consider living in by choice is Olympia. It was pretty mellow when I lived there, with people being fairly chummy (at least by WA standards). However, this was several years ago. I'd definitely look before leaping, regardless. Note: I have absolutely no experience with Spokane, as I have only ever passed through it. I’ve never even stopped here. I totally should sometime. I hear it’s not great, but I have to consider that this diagnosis comes from the kind of people who think that Seattle and Bellingham are amazing wonder of the world paradises.

Oregon is Washington-lite. Portland isn’t as stifling as Seattle, and has a bit more of its own personality (everyone describes the city as ‘quirky,’ and its inhabitants endeavor to live up to this characterization), but it’s still not anywhere that should be on your priority list for living if you aren’t a Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte sipping feminist with strong tendencies toward hipsterdom. Portland is also higher crime than Seattle (probably owing some to having a larger black neighborhood, although it’s not entirely the fault of that).

California is very plastic. Not as bad in the forest-y north as it is in Hollywood or the Bay Area, but still pretty bad. Women more spoiled and entitled and attention-seeking than anywhere I have ever seen them. I know we throw those words at women everywhere, but man…there are definitely levels to it. The culture of California is to think that your state is better than everyone else, and that you’re really doing them a favor by even being a part of the same country (see: Calexit).

I don’t really have much experience with any of the other states. I lived in Reno, Nevada for a few months, but I didn’t exactly go and mingle, so I have no idea what kind of place it is. Lot of dumpy looking people there, but they may also have been mostly tourists.

Definitely true about Conservative states being more friendly than Liberal states in general, although this is rarely particularly clear cut. Even most of the hyper-liberal states are of a similar ‘blue in the big cities, red everywhere else’ mold, and yet the culture in some of those states is significantly more unfriendly than others. Illinois, Minnesota and California are pretty unfriendly no matter what.
