Removing Conspiracy Theory stuff from this forum

Postby Jackal » Sun Mar 27, 2011 2:03 pm

Should Winston remove the Conspiracy Theory stuff from this forum?

My feeling is that he should because it's just a distraction from the main purpose of this website (to date foreign women). On the one hand, it might go along with some of the "outside the box" thinking here, but it easily takes on a life of its own and becomes just too much.

I think it would be better if Winston used a different website for all this CT stuff. The CT stuff might turn off many people who visit this site and make them think that all the members here are paranoid nuts.

I'm not saying that conspiracies don't exist or that none of them are important. I'm just saying that conspiracies don't make much difference to men who are simply trying to live and date women overseas.

I concur its all looney tune stuff that cannot be proven so why bother with it? Plus all these people who claim to know so much never do anything about it so what is the point? This site is for men looking for foreign women that's about it.

Yes please. Aren't we just distracting ourselves with things we basically have no control over when we post about this stuff?

I did start one thread about a conspiracy theorist who predicted a couple earthquakes but I did so because I thought that was a useful skill and being aware of him might be interesting for folks on this forum.

Can't this CT stuff be pushed over to Winston's other forum? I really come here to discuss travel, international issues, and dating or marrying around the globe.

I know Winston and a few others may find it all fascinating but it seems pretty unrelated to the core theme of this Happier Abroad movement. Yes, some will argue that this is a free-thinking forum and CT are connected to that and all but really, this stuff is pretty annoying. If it can't be removed from the forum, could it at least be segregated somehow so it doesn't always pop-up in the newest posts section? Some of the headlines from this stuff sound like stuff right out of the National Enquirer, almost as annoying as spam.

I concur with the above sentiments. I've never cared much for most CT's, anyway.

My former friend would send me all the conspiracy videos on youtube. The stock market would crash around that date. The currency would crash around that date. The Fema camps, Martial law would come around that date. None of this stuff has ever happened yet some of these stupid people cant seem to escape that Matrix that they created for themselves.
Its funny how these people can watch these stupid videos all day and then if you ask them do they have a job......... These people are lost and i tend to just ignore them.

Jackal, I don't understand your logic. Conspiracies are a part of life and have been a part of history all throughout human history. They are part of understanding the truth and why things are the way they are. How can you remove such an integral part of truth?

If someone wants to focus on foreign women, they can stick to the Love/Relationships board. Most conspiracy threads are in the Conspiracies board anyway, which anyone can choose to avoid.

You all have the power of choice. Why do you want to start censoring topics, especially since they are important ones that involve truth?

Are you looking at the big picture? I thought you were a deep intellectual Jackal?

ErikHeaven, that is the most MORONIC thing I ever heard. My God. So what you're saying is, "Conspiracies are all bullshit. The notion that powerful people get together to make plans is totally laughable (as George Carlin sarcastically put it to sheep like you). Only the official version of events and cover stories are true." That is the most asinine statement in the world, yet your words seem to imply it. Can you explain?

Your statement that all conspiracies are false and unproven is technically false. If you listen to Alex Jones or his site or David Icke, you will see that a lot of conspiracies are proven and well documented. There is lots of evidence, whistleblowers, experts, etc. You are simply ignorant of it. So it's not that they aren't true, you just don't bother to do any research. If you did, you wouldn't hold such ridiculous views such as "powerful people cannot have secrets or make plans without CNN covering it" etc. No one with any sense would think that, so why do you??? Weird.

If you're willing to open your mind and free it from brainwashing, then I can give you a ton of material to research. Otherwise, you are in denial and your statements make no sense and smack of pure bias and ignorance.

PS - FYI, David Icke and Alex Jones predicted 9/11. So your notion that none of it has come true is WRONG. See the film on YouTube "David Icke, was he right?" It lists many things that Icke predicted that DID come true. So you are WRONG. Also, in the 1920's, George Orwell, who wrote "1984" made a lot of predictions that also CAME TRUE. Same with Aldus Huxley, who wrote "Brave New World". Tell me, how much research have you done, ErikHeaven? None? You just listen to cheap debunkers and that's all?

Btw, here is a great quote for all you deniers to consider:

Here is a challenge for you deniers who claim "All conspiracies are false. Powerful people cannot make secret plans.":

- Go watch the 90 minute presentation by David Icke on YouTube or Google Video called "David Icke Oxford Union". It is very down to earth and makes tons of sense. Watch all 90 minutes of it. Then tell me that there is zero truth in it. Otherwise, you are full of it if you don't even take the time to do that.

- Look up "Gulf of Tonkin Incident" and tell me that governments do not fake incidents to start wars. In fact, explain why the US government badly wanted to start the Vietnam War, given the fact that it's official reason turned out to be total bullshit and nonsensical from the get go.

- Watch the film on YouTube "Zero: An Investigation into 9/11", ALL OF IT, and tell me that there are no unanswered questions or doubts about 9/11.

If you won't take these challenges, then you are not a truth seeker and you are full of it. Instead, you are a closed minded subjective person who makes false lazy statements.

Even if they were true, my point is that they have no relevance to dating women in a foreign country. Knowing that 911 was an inside job won't help you find an apartment in Beijing and it won't help you get a blowjob in Slovakia.

Winston wrote:Are you looking at the big picture?

Yes, I am thinking about the big picture. I'm trying think of ways which will make more people take this website seriously. If it's full of bigfoot video clips and other silly things, most people won't take it seriously.

Winston wrote:I thought you were a deep intellectual Jackal?

Believing in all the latest conspiracy theories doesn't automatically make one an intellectual and isn't a prerequisite for being an intellectual.

Most people would say that Stephen Hawking is a "deep intellectual," but I doubt that he believes in most CT stuff.

But why should a forum be focused on only one area? Why not multiple areas and be diversified? We can have threads about dating foreign women or moving to other countries too. Why not have both? Why do you only want one or the other? Why does it have to be exclusive? Explain your logic on that.

Most Americans are not against conspiracies. They just don't think about them, but they are not against them.

Believing in conspiracies makes one more more intellectual I think, in that one becomes liberated from the programmed belief that "authority=truth", and thus more "free" to seek truth. So yes, accepting that conspiracies are a part of history, both past and present, is a step toward truth and intellectualism or freethinking, whatever you want to call it. Remember, truth is a process that takes work to move toward. It does not come on a silver platter.

Plus, conspiracies opens one's mind to alternate possibilities rather than one fixed rigid version (especially since some of the official versions of truth have turned out to be BS). Isn't that a good thing?

Agreed Jackal?

Explain why I am wrong about the above?

Also, why are you only targeting conspiracies? Why aren't you complaining about trashy threads here like "UCLA girls rants against Asians"?

The point i was trying to make is this i used to be a conspiracy theory junkie myself. 2 Many people across the globe know all these things and yet do nothing about it! American males in my mind are the world's pussies because they watch all of these videos, talk about it, chat about it and then do nothing.
American males would rather play xbox all day then pick up a gun and confront the so-called Illuminati.
So you can watch and believe Alex Jones or David Eick i probably spelled his name wrong, but if your not going to risk your ass in the streets like the Arabs are doing right now in their nations, then respectfully Winston all of this is plain bullshit!
I am ready for civil war i am not afraid of death i wonder are the rest of you?

@WINSTON The point that i was making is that some of the CT i believe in myself yet if i asked a few people ok lets train to kill these fuckers then people would start slowly leaving the room. And you know what i am talking about. Most men i know are either video game addicts, porn addicts, sex addicts or just too damn depressed to change a damn thing. So welcome to America! The Illuminati rule because they can. We dont rule because we cant!

Okay, man. Well, it's your website. If you're satisfied with its current state, then that's your business.

Yes, I feel similarly. If CT stuff didn't show up in newest posts, it would be easier for those of us who don't care about it to ignore it.

Winston wrote:Believing in conspiracies makes one more more intellectual I think, in that one becomes liberated from the programmed belief that "authority=truth", and thus more "free" to seek truth.

There are CTs of different levels of quality. Some theories, such as those about JFK's assassination or the Gulf of Tonkin incident, are well-established. Other flavor-of-the-month CT stories that appear on CT websites are more like tabloid gossip. There's a certain demographic of guys who are into this stuff and websites cater to their tastes, so it becomes less about "truth-seeking" and more about supplying appealing stories to these guys who hunger for the exotic and paranoid.

Most guys on this site--hell, most adults--are already acutely aware of how unethical governments can be. Providing these guys with more examples of this really doesn't help them in any way. It just depresses them about shit they can't change and wastes their time--time which could be better spent learning a language, earning money, researching potential countries, getting an education, going out, or getting in shape.

Winston wrote:So yes, accepting that conspiracies are a part of history, both past and present, is a step toward truth and intellectualism or freethinking, whatever you want to call it. Remember, truth is a process that takes work to move toward. It does not come on a silver platter.

Again it depends which conspiracies you're talking about. Some have a lot of quality proof to back them up; others don't.

But this has little relevance to global dating. Women in a discotheque in Spain won't care whether you're well-versed in the lore of conspiracy theories or not. CTs are mostly just basement dork convention stuff.

I guess the relevance of CTs depends on what your main goal for this site truly is. If the goal of this website is to inspire guys to go abroad and find romance there, then this CT stuff is pretty irrelevant. But if the goal of this site is really to gather a group of people who think exactly like Winston Wu about every subject, then of course, the CT stuff is one of Winston's main interests, and one couldn't be a compelling Winston clone without feeling the same degree of enthusiasm for it.

Winston wrote:Also, why are you only targeting conspiracies? Why aren't you complaining about trashy threads here like "UCLA girls rants against Asians"?

I didn't see that thread. I just comment on what I've seen and what caught my attention.

One problem with CT, is that it seems to be a form of escapism for men living hopeless lives. If you are living a hopeless life, you can either escape into drugs, television, CT, etc. or you can do something to change it. My ideal would be a website full of useful nuts & bolts information to help men go abroad to start living meaningful lives. But I am afraid it wouldn't get many posts. We already know of one tried and true blueprint - get a CELTA degree (one month and $1500 dollars), and teach oversees. Most men here could draw up a 6 month plan and be out living a real life of adventure in an environment where women are really interested in meeting them. Instead they may spend years absorbed in CT to help dull the pain of inaction.
