My experience in Ethiopia so far

Post by Dark_Sol »

Man where to start, it has been a roller coaster ride for me these 2 weeks. Some ups and downs, like a kid in a candy store. Trying new candy but finding some I hate. Well, let's start with the women here. It is true there is some beauty's, but it seems there is the same amount of not so good looking gals. Right now, seems the girls I've been getting are money leeches. Guess this is because I've been getting girls in bars and off the street.

After dating and spending the night with them. I noticed that they tend to not gasp, it is a sign of nervousness or afraid. So, right now I am getting to know girls in shops, seems a majority of them smile and gasp. Also, girls nearing 30 show aggression, cause they getting to an age to is considered old. One day there was a van full of young girls, they stated to call me. So I came over and they wanted me to come with them. I asked the taxi guy where they going and he said 300birr. One I wouldn't pay until I know how far we were going and two, I didn't have that much cash on me. So I just flirted with the girls and told them I live here. So, if they came by, they can just hit me up.

When going out to party, Bole's night clubs is the place to be. It is not cheap, but most of the girls with money already go there. If you land a girl outside of Bole's night clubs and she wants to go to Bole, dump her ass. The guy to girl ratio is high, seems to be a lot less girls.

When venturing around watch out for pickpockets. The most some of these punks tried to steal from me is around Semien Hotel area. Every time I grabbed them and looked them in the eyes and told them to fuckoff. Guess there is something good I got from the military, vigilance, even though people and therapists tell me it's abnormal in the US. Also Piazza and Bole, be careful at night in Bole, try and take the Embassies route or high population. They have some soldiers and guards.

Now food is cheap, for a good meal for one person should be about 50-80 birr and that depends on meat. Local Beer should be about 15 birr(I founf a place for 12 birr). A bottle of local red wine is around 80-90 birr. Be careful on the bill from the waiters, they tried to get 400 bir from a good amount of beer. But was only 180 birr for 12 beers. I had the receipts and refuse to give him the money, he panic cause he was skimming from the top.

Have you escorted a girl around town during daylight hours? I'm curious how local men react.

Did escort a couple of ladies during the day, seems they don't care to much. Get some looks, but that's about it. It was just the clubs that had guys hating. But I found that once you start to become friends with some of the guys(at local bars), they try and hook you up with a friend. They do this when they start asking if I'm married or have a girlfriend. I said no and then they really start asking questions. Even one guy asked how many girls I slept with back home. I was honest (1)and the other guys all around the bar were shocked. One was just shaking his head. It's normal for guys to have a girl or been in a few relationships.

So I think my view on guy to girl ratio is wrong. I guess I was counting the ones just walking around the streets. I didn't bother or have any idea how many girls are in college(now thinking about it, there is lot of guys shining shoes, taxis, labor workers and others selling products on the street.) or took notice to girls in cafes/restaurants.

Oh yeah, after experiencing so many types of pickpockets, I got it down. If you see a kid with a tray of only one tissue pack or gum. He is most likely a pickpocket, especially when he comes up to you and than another kid suddenly appears on your other side saying he's hungry. He will then to start to grab your arm and try to tug on it. This tactic is trying to make you shake him off while the kid with the tray grabs the cash and hide it under the tray. Sadly, it didn't work and he is in prison.

Another one is a guy is saying something to someone. Turns around and spits. He spits on you and try to wipe it off. One, when he was shouting to someone, some of the people in front of him was giving him a weird stare. Second, how dumb do they think I am when they are wiping the spit, they are shoving their hand in my pocket?

Second is the common one, just come up from behind and grab what they can from the back pocket. Funny thing, I keep a wad of toilet paper there and don't even care(keep money in front and in that small pouch in those jeans). Laugh when my toilet paper is missing. Heard from a few people that they keep their empty wallets there and the thief tries to sell it back to them.

Best bet when cutting down on pickpockets, when anyone comes up to you or in a very crowded area. Put your thumbs or hands in your pockets. This really cuts down on people suddenly trying to harass you. Kids with those trays and partners. Bam, They stop following you and disappear. Guy who spits on you, shows irritation. Guys who come from behind, well I would love to see the looks on their face when they just grabbed a wad of paper. But, I'm to busy checking out the girl in the shops.

wow, that's fantastic.

Getting the local guys to hook you up? I wish every country was so fantastic in that way!

Glad to hear things are so positive for you!

Just have to choose a bar and keep going to it. They soon realize you just not the typical foreigner. I go to bars where no farangi goes to. Last night one of the patrons was talking to me, introduce his wife and sister. He said his sister likes me. I was pretty stunned by him trying to hook me up with his sister. He even started to tell me that this bar is "underground" and really isn't a place that farangis go to. Said that Bole is the place for guys like me.

Another place I went to(cafe & restaurant). Was having a great time with a guy(he was teaching me his language) and flirting with the waitress. Than some college guy came in and had a chip on his shoulder. Started to ask me question in a loud and rude voice. Every time I answered his question, he gave me attitude. My patients was running out. I asked if he had a problem, he said no and gave me a glare and had anger in his voice. Guess he was trying to intimidate me this whole time. Than he ask a question of what my profession was. I said nothing, he laughed and asked what I use to do. I said the Army, than he laughed again and asked what war. Mockingly to me and did that whole "What war Huh? What war?"

That was when I put my mug down, got serious and glared at him and said what the f**k was his problem. Why was he acting like this towards me and to stop his manner towards me. That was when he backed down, apologized and left.

Maybe he had a bad day, maybe he just hated farangis or some other unknown thing. He was the first guy who actually tried shit with me.

Western men go abroad and find girls in bars, clubs off the street and wonder why they have such bad experiences. If you want a lovely Habesha girl, you should go to the rural areas, and court her thru her father.or pay someone to be a wingman and advertize to the people in the village ,there is a american who wants to meet a ethiopian virgin ,and will pay a handsome dowry etc

that is how outside of the west...normal people find quality wives.

Ethiopians were never colonized except for a brief occupation by Italy. They taught themselves English. It is a very proud ( and arrogant at times) race. And like the Thais they call you farang(i)s and have the same challenging attitude to a white man.

It's better to be a black man there. I have a black American friend who is living there now and he loves it. Kind of like Asians who live in Thailand love it.

Well, after my time there. I learned to quicly adapt and toss out western culture on how to get and meet girls. I returned to my original roots on asking a girl out and meeting them. Before the time when I was accused of harassment(about 5-6 years now and one a few months ago) and people criticize me that I was doing it wrong. Funny, cause I think Roosh even stated that foriegn women likes a guy who is respectable, nice and isn't a douche. Being beaten over the head with these toxic ideas for years. I was happy and felt comfortable in Ethiopia, never once did I felt like killing or commiting suicide.

Sadly I am back in the US and trying to clear some problems with the VA. Once that is over, I am returning. There is three great ladies I met and can't hardly wait to met them again.

Nice report - it's good to see somebody go to a less popular country and hang out there.

I miss the really smoking hot black women in London. There are some here in China, but they're not up to the quality the UK has to offer.
I was Happier Abroad for a while but Covid killed that off.

This thread is increasing my interest in Ethiopia, and making me want to go there. You say the Ethiopians are a proud race like the Thais:

1. Do Ethiopians say things to each other about you, then laugh and snicker like the Thais do a lot?

2. Are the Ethiopians more sociable than the Thais with foreigners?

3. Do the Ethiopians have a calm disposition like the Thais, or are they slightly more aggressive?

4. Does Ethiopia have consumerism and westernization like Bangkok has?

5. Are there any similar problems in Ethiopia like in Thailand, where people from the Isaan region are looked down upon by people from Bangkok and as a result a lot of them go after foreigners?

6. Does Ethiopia have good food?

7. Overall, how welcome do you feel in Ethiopia? Do you feel comfortable, or do you feel just "tolerated"?

The Ethiopians don't see themselves the same as the rest of Africa. It is a mix bag for dignity, you do have those leeches, but the ones who do have dignity. They are great, honest and straight forward people.

1. Somewhat. When I do something that is weird/taboo by their culture (not using all my fingers for food). They tend to laugh a bit and tell me what I am doing wrong. But, the ones mocking you are really the youths and I could care less.
2. Yes, but be careful of the leeches, you can tell pretty fast who they are. Also, you do have some that don't like foreigners coming over(very rare), one thought I was trying to convert people to another religion.
3. I have to say aggressive in wanting to know you. I have been approached by a lot of people.
4. Little or none at all, if you mean by buying excessively for crap you don't need and the whole feminism, not normal by society's standard.
5. Not that I noticed. Now I can tell somewhat if they are from the same ethnic group. It is really easy for the women, markings, skin, hair or facial bone structure.
6. Yes, there is a lot I enjoy. My favorite is really when they fry the meat and serve it with red chili powder and a type of wasabi sauce on the side. You use injera to grab the food. But no meat on Wednesday and Friday, it's the day Jesus was taken to prison and the day he was crucified.
7. I feel welcomed, I mean, when a bunch of college girls start talking to you while you mind your own business and want your phone number or a guy who offers you his food( they hand feed you it to show closeness/friendship). It is safe to say that you will feel welcomed.

Hard for most to rise above their own level...most Western men are sleazeballs...
bargirl thinking...bargirl results.

I have less and less sympathy for American men vs American women. Most American men
are getting the dismal results with women that they deserve.
