Is it possible to reverse or stop aging?

Post by Winston »

I was looking at one of Walt Goodridge's books about reversing the aging process.

http://www.agelessadept.com/

Is that really possible? How does it work? Does it involve complicated treatments?

I remember Deepak Chopra had a book about reversing aging too, but ironically, he didn't seem to age well himself. Funny how that is.

Anyone know anything about this topic?

Well Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts look very young for their age. How do they do it? They must have the best fitness trainers, nutritionists, and maybe a little bit of plastic surgery.

I'm sure there are ways to slow down the aging process or at least temporarily reverse the effects of premature aging due to bad health habits?

Aging involves the whole body (bones, muscles, skin, joints, and even the brain). Your cells themselves age and are genetically programmed to degenerate after a certain number of divisions. Ever wonder for example why a dog's body is elderly at 13 while a human's body is just getting started. This rate of cellular degeneration varies dramatically between different mammals. We can now transplant body parts from one person to another. So what do u think would happen aging wise if we could transplant body parts from other mammals to humans?

So can u reverse aging? To a certain extent, I think the answer is yes, at least if u have not taken good care of yourself.

A middle aged man who is out of shape due to laziness and neglect can go on a strict exercise and diet regime and dramatically improve his body and health. In a sense, you could say he's reversed some of the aging process as his lean body tissue is built up and fat is reduced. Its even possible to increase bone density in some individuals.

Prematurely aged and sun damaged skin can be dramatically improved with certain treatment protocols although these are not without risks.

Stem cell research is one of the newest hopes for reversing the aging process. Many doctors believe that it will soon be possible to grow new organs using either a person's own adult stem cells or by harvesting new ones from an aborted fetus. Some doctors are already using stem cell rich fat to rejuvenate skin on the face and other parts of the body with some success.

Consensus seems to include:
- avoid all processed foods and sugars
- avoid sun exposure but make sure u get enough Vitamin D to make up for that, perhaps w/supplements
- avoid smoking, heavy drinking, irregular sleep, and too little sleep
- eat large quantities of veggies, fruits, get enough protein, and watch out for empty carbs
- get on a P90X type of exercise regime and follow the eating plan too
- yoga, correct breathing, and meditation (some of this covered in P90X)
- avoid high stress

Brad Pitt and esp. Tom Cruise are not good examples of great aging. If u viewed some surprise unflattering photos of them, u would see they look around their real age. Tom Cruise has had some surgery but it has probably hurt more than helped (lipo to his body has lead to some premature aging to his stomach area). Brad Pitt was/is a heavy smoker and its effects seem to show in certain angles.

A lot of how a person looks relative to their age boils down to their personal genetics. Many American celebrities do get cosmetic procedures done but I find that it usually doesn't make them look younger and often makes them seem less natural.

It's mind boggling how ignorant you are Winston, and the rest of the posters here as well. It makes me wonder where on earth you've been for the last 20 years? Have you ever heard of "Growth Hormone"?

This is what everybody is taking now and you apparently don't even know it. It's just mind boggling to me. Where on earth have you been living?

You can get Jintropin in the Philippines, it's cheap, it's Chinese, and it's used for Anti-aging.....

What else don't you know?

Do you know we never landed on the moon?

Do you know Dinosaurs are a Mason creation?

Do you know that the USA Congress and Senate don't really vote on bills?

Do you know people do not really elect a president? That there is no voting?

Do you know evolution is a mathematical impossibility?

Do you know the entire financial system is controlled by a computer program and doesn't really trade?

It's mind boggling to me what you people don't know, it's like you all are under a spell and you cannot wake up from your nightmare, I truly do feel sorry for all of you, and sorry for myself that I have to live around this kind of ignorance and stupidity.
I've seen people who've been shooting-up HGH every 6 days a week, some for many years. Some also use other well known aging therapies. Guess what? They usually don't look young for their age. The biggest benefit they seem get is that they have an easier time building muscles if they do regular weight training. But many also suffer side effects such as acute joint pain. Sylvester Stallone does the works. Granted, he does look good for his age, but still no younger than late 50s, a modest improvement at best.

And your recommendation to stay out of the sun is just the exact opposite of what you want to do, the sun is what keeps you healthy, lack of sun causes cancer and will kill you, this is why the media tells you to stay out of the sun, because they hate your guts and do nothing but tell you every lie there is in this world to tell......
OK then, how do u explain:

1. Why do so many natives in southwest Florida have skin which appears much older than its real age?

2. How do u explain the extreme facial aging on the sun exposed left side of the French cab drivers face relative to the unexposed right side in the following link if it is not due the sun - http://www.scform.com/2010/07/does-anti ... -work.html ?

Calorie restriction is the only thing that's been proven to extend maximum lifespan in animals.

Here's a blog of a guy who practices CR.

Extreme calorie restriction can significantly extend lifespan in mice and presumably humans. But ironically, it can also lead to apparent pre-mature aging. A face and body with an extremely low body fat percentage tends to look older than one in the low normal range. Also, quality of life is compromised because people who practice this tend to have less energy.

Ya... there's about a half-million authors I want to read before I buy a book from this guy.

Please provide proof for your claims. I share a lot of the same views as you but you're not doing anyone any good with the way you act.

Further to my last post, if Winston exercised and ate healthy for long enough to reduce his body fat percentage down to 16-18%, he would probably look significantly younger and better. He would feel better too.

But, if he engaged in extreme calorie restriction for a few weeks to months, his body fat percentage would probably fall to low single digits (if u can imagine that) and he would actually end-up looking a lot older then he does now. His face would hollow and droop and the skin around his arms and torso would sag. He would probably have even less energy than he has now too.
