Calorie restriction diets don't extend lifespan

Post by Cornfed »

At least according to the following monkey study:

Personally I would rather die immediately than have the physique of scrawny dweebs on calorie restricted diets, but it had hitherto looked like they might enjoy longer lives. The difference with this study is that they didn't allow the control monkeys to eat a lot of sugar. Probably a lot of junk carbohydrates reduces lifespan, rather that eating less than you'd want extends it.

You'd think having more food would cause you to live longer - although not so much food you become obese.

2000 calories per day... no more, no less.
