Fast food workers demanding minimum $15/hr may want to reconsider their negotiation posture.

So, what happens when everything that can be automated becomes automated?

This is why the key to humanity's future lies in getting our #'s in check and just having enough people around to tend shop and enjoy the planet. I believe the reset is coming soon and it's more than likely the best thing for humanity at this point. The bible say's be fruitful and multiply not to just multiply. It is quit possible man has copulated himself out of existence by picking freely of the fruit in the midst of the center of the garden.

If we grow a little mentally I believe a future communal society is possible, the best thing to do is quit breeding stop tearing the eco system up and go vegetarian until the eco stabilizes.

They may take away the cashier positions, but a robot can never grill and flip the burgers! Oh wait...

At 360 burgers an hour, the fast food place of the future might very well only have one employee: a decently well paid technician that stocks the meat and veggies into the burger making machine and troubleshoots any problems with the robots or registers.

It is entirely possible that we will be able to utilize science to produce sustainable, widely available food that is not resource intensive. Lab grown burgers and the experimental and amusingly named Soylent shakes come to mind. Hydroponics and city farming can further help sustain us by reducing the energy required to produce and transport food. World populations are likely to begin their decline soon, as birthrates are down around the globe. Human population will likely peak in the next 40 years and decline steadily from there. So long as we survive this transitional period, in which the number of elderly and disabled massively outnumbers the youth, we can have a sustainable future of the sort you seek without the apocalypse having occurred.

How we structure society with these massive demographic challenges and an increasingly automated world is a big question, however.

I just hope we take to space before we go into decline.

It would be one thing if there wasn't a mass extinction taking place but there is, so that is why I say a reset. Scientist say at current extinction rate which is at least 1000 or as high as 100,000 times normal we will see a reduction of at least 50% of all living organisms by 2100.

This means more than likely a massive die off of humanity coming over the next 100 years.

The socialist A HOLES with their globalization experiment is just making the problem worse.

The longer the mass extinction goes on the less diversity of life here for future generations so the quicker the reset the better.

There is a huge die off coming and the elite know this and they also know it is going to take most life out here on earth, it will rebound but will take millions of years but with todays technology there is hope. The best bet would have been to learn to live sustainably a while ago.

I'm too old to worry about the year 2100. :D

The Elites may indeed know or suspect something big is coming.
They didn't build the seed vault just for kicks & giggles.

They know, they know all do not kid yourself. They know alot of the real history of the world and have it under lock and key.

Programming serfs to serve has little in common with truth.
