Right. I believe the Chinese had a similar belief before the British arrived in 1839 with newly applied technology.

Newly applied technology, exactly. If you believe Zecharia Sitchin's narrative about our gods being advanced beings from another planets, mankind is created by merging the gods' DNA with that of local large mammals. The Bible says that too, we come from God's seed.

That's what I mean by grafting. Any process that aims at making a soulless machine capable of consciousness and free will will fail miserably. Stories like M Shelley's Frankenstein or the Golem are metaphors for that hubris-induced failure.

And, all in all, it's not machines being more human we should be worried about. The problem is us humans behaving more and more like robots.

Paloaltoguy wrote:Cognition, it's just an illusion ... the brain is just a feedback algorithm, simulator based on the feedback. It's quite eloquent if you understand feedback loops. Even better if understand the algorithmic pattern programming from the genetic levels, biological differential stability network.

The fuckers finally analyzed the brain's parallelism in fMRI and only found 50 high level coherent streams, less than that are active at any given task. So, besides the cells' DNA functioning as possible CPU/calculators for structural level dynamics/stability synching mechanisms, which they of course didn't address, it seems quite plausible that we'll be able to mimic human level intelligence sometime soonish.

In otherwords, if the fuckers thought like me and could represent knowledge in a perfect network, then they would already have AGI

.

I meant cognition in the sense of producing a result from a given input (ie passing the turing test) regardless of the underlying mechanism. Discussing about conciousness is kind of moot since it can't be proven. In this sense mimicking is not really mimicking, it is being.

I would also content that it's not about "feedback" since an intelligent entity could ponder and reason about the world based on a single snapshot of it.

And, all in all, it's not machines being more human we should be worried about. The problem is us humans behaving more and more like robots.
+1 I see more and more smartphone zombies everywhere

Here's an excellent book by M. A. Fischler on the mechanics underlying cognition and how they could be replicated:

Here's the first chapter

Heres' the whole book (140MB)

Here is this company called Universal Robots

This is way better than the highly hyped Baxter it seems, but there's still a loooooong way to go.
That cafe demo above sucks, still no spatial and object real time awareness, everything is in preestablished locations, no verbal commands, won't hand the coffee to the cloned-bearded-hipster, er i mean customer, etc..

But this is good, so many opportunities still...

Yep, that's pretty much porn to me. The sensuality of those second-order motion ramps is irresistible

Edit: But seriously, the thing stopping in between motions sucks lol No need for that at this stage of the game.
It's pretty straight forward to overlap/blend the actions.

Oh so you want them to erotically robotically table dance in the nude for you also ? .

Next you'll want Robot tittie bars on every corner ? typical dirty filthy minded T101 for yaa! It might be time to scour that processor of yours out with some good old fashioned heavy duty detergent.

I'm going to email that manufacturer immediately and tell them to cover all that bare metal of those BOTS up with a good coat of paint and put an end to that robotic filth . despicable.
