Rise of China (Documentary)

Post by NorthAmericanguy »

This documentary is heavy guys, I'm still getting through it.

"The Road to Revival" by CCTV (broadcasted in Dec 2007) is the first political TV documentary series that comprehensively and systematically examiners the Chinese people's path toward national development.

With its unique modern angle, comprehensive approach and global perspective, the documentary recalls the thoughts and actions taken by the Chinese people at various points in history in a bid to rejuvenate the nation. The series draws on rich historical records and exclusive interviews with both Chinese and foreign scholars to give a complete representation of the events that have brought China to the point it is at today. "The Road to Revival" showcases the world-renowned achievements China has made since the founding of the PRC and the launch of its reform and opening-up program, factually proving that the people have chosen Marxism, the Communist Party of China and socialism with capital market economy to govern their society. CPC has been experimenting new socialism theory that had been developed and evolved since 1978. They claimed that only when China holds high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics can it realize a great revival of the nation. This is first political TV documentary series ever produced by CPC. To fully understand whole span modern history of China, you might be set yourself as if from a Chinese view to watch. There is no other better documentary available to learn China from inside of CPC view."

Random comments:

"This is amazing documentary. Western nations really downplay their invasion into Indo-China. The Chinese suffered alot since the 18th century from European aggression. Look up "Century of Humiliation", the "Boxer Rebellion", "The Opium Wars" and the "Unequal Treaties". The Chinese weren't even allowed to enter their own public parks in Shanghai as noted in the Bruce Lee movie "Fist of Fury" where he kicked the sign that said: "No Dogs and Chinese Allowed".

"And Western nations are talking about human rights??? What hypocrites! USA and UK are biggest warmongers and thieves. They're just better at hiding their crimes using their corporate-owned media to blind their own people. Look at their economy now without colonialism."

"good documentary, it answers many questions as to a person who is interested in Chinese history."

Question: Why did China invade Tibet and cause mass murder and brutality there? What did they gain by doing that?

Here is part 1 of a documentary about Shanghai, a futuristic city in China.

Description:

Shanghai, a beautiful and vibrant international metropolis, is home to enriched human resources, amazing city landscape, bustling commercial street, and various folk customs, forming a unique city attraction.

Being "the long corridor of Shanghai", the Bund always appears as a symbol of Shanghai and an epitome of Shanghai's modern history, which is a real portrayal of old Shanghai. Great changees have been taken plance in today's Shanghai, especially the rapidly-developed Pudong New Area. The changing Shanghai is becoming a window to showcase China's economic development after the reform and opening up.

Probably because:

1) They can control its economic resources, profit from it, and tax more people.
2) To set an example to other provinces that China will not allow them to break away. Otherwise, if one declares independence then it sets a precedence so that others make consider doing the same.

Check out this travel documentary about China called "Fascination China".

Description:

China's Imperial City is located in the centre of its ancient Middle Kingdom, a gigantic and inscrutable empire beyond the Great Wall. The Imperial City is entered through the Gates of Heavenly Peace. After seven years of construction, Ming Emperor Zhu Di moved into his newly-established palace complex in which over eight thousand people lived in almost a thousand rooms. The palace served as both a residential and governmental seat to the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. A stone's throw away from the old Summer Palace is the Garden of Harmonious Unity that was the favourite garden of the Emperor's household who retreated to its cool lakeside shores during the humid months of summer. Close to Badaling the Great Wall Of China extends majestically across misty mountains. It is the largest Man-made structure in the world and was erected to protect the country from invasion from the North. The gigantic wall represented the division of two very different cultures. On one side the Central Asian Nomads and on the other the highly developed civilisation of the emerging Chinese Empire.

Shanghai is a Gigantic City and a meeting point of both east and west. The shoreline is without a doubt the city's main focal point and is a combination of past, present and future and contains the historic monuments and eye catching buildings of a great city. Famous explorer Marco Polo referred to Suzhou as the 'Venice of the East', a city that is particularly famous for its gardens. Many of its extremely elegant buildings are remnants of a glorious past. Yunnan´s most famous site is the unique Stone Forest Of Shi Lin, a forest of rock that extends for 27,000 hectares. Hong Kong is a city of the superlative with glimmering skyscrapers that seem to take root in the sky and one elegant building after another with shining glass and hi-tech facades.
