The movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" represents how I feel in America and Taiwan!

Any of you ever see the 1978 sci-fi horror movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" with Donald Sutherland? In it, alien pods replicate humans on Earth into clones who are devoid of any emotion, feeling or soul.

Doesn't that sound so familiar? It sounds like something that ALREADY happened in America without us knowing, huh? I thought it was just sci fi, but it appears to have been a prophecy of things to come, which did come.

Compared to the past, Americans today look like soulless zombies without feeling, like they're not even alive. There is no warmth, connection, or camaraderie. Everyone seems disconnected, and the whole vibe is one of isolation.

In that movie, the humans get replicated when they "go to sleep" which was a great pun, whether intended or not. I often feel like I'm one of the few left that didn't get replicated.

Here is info on the movie if you want to see it.

Have any of you seen "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? If so, then you will understand what I mean when I say it represents how I feel in West Coast America and Taiwan. Like how everyone around you seems so soulless, zombie-like, emotionless and inhuman, and you are the last or only living soul and normal human left. lol. It's a great metaphor and allegory for how it is to feel totally alienated and unable to connect or find any warm souls around you. So I refer to it to describe how I feel in countries or places I don't fit into at all, where everyone seems like a soulless inhuman alien clone. lol

Especially in Taiwan, where they cannot even find any charismatic people to be on TV and where people cannot even hold a decent conversation and where everything feels awkward, including being alive. Definitely the weirdest country in the world. I can't fathom how Rock could like it. lol. No soul, no authenticity, no one is down to earth except the elderly, no one wants to be your real friend, etc. It's the worst place for a living soul to be.

Btw here is the 1956 version of the movie, which is colorized. It's not as good as the 1978 version, but still worth watching. It has that creepiness to it where you know you are right, but everyone thinks you're insane. lol

Here is a great classic Twilight Zone episode that also symbolizes how I feel in USA and Taiwan. It's called "Eye of the Beholder" where a woman undergoes many surgeries to make her face look "normal" so she can fit into society. But when the last surgery fails and her bandages are removed, it's revealed that she actually looks beautiful and fine, and that the doctors and nurses and rest of mainstream society are the ones that look hideous and ugly.

It's a great metaphor illustrating the concept that if you are sane and normal and everyone around you is not, then YOU will be the abnormal one and persecuted for it. Or if you have a beautiful soul and personality and everyone else is ugly and soulless on the inside, then you will be blamed for being different and abnormal, not everyone else. Or if you are a nonconformist in any way, you will be ostracized, even if there's nothing really wrong with you, thus revealing the insanity of society, not the misfit. lol. This is one of the greatest allegories, and definitely applies to the SF Bay Area and Taiwan, where people are inhuman, cold, soulless and ugly on the inside.

Here is the 2002 remake of the episode from the 2002 Twilight Zone series. The original version is no longer up on YouTube.

Here is a short clip from the original Twilight Zone episode "Eye of the Beholder" where the woman's bandages are slowly removed to finally reveal what's going on. lol. It's the perfect metaphor for what it's like to be a total misfit. lol

I really like that movie, it's one of my favorite science fiction movies. I also liked the original that came out in 1956 but I liked the remake (that came out in 1978) even more.
