This may be the most pertinent point to take out of the thread, as Yohan also noted. The culture seems a bit insulated, and the women maybe not so open to foreign men. Somewhat like we once discussed about chicanos in the U.S.

I have a good friend who is Romanian. He's quite handsome, intelligent and charming and if he's a good representation of the other Romanian men, why would their women look elsewhere?

These dark skinned casanovas from Persia, Romania, Italy and Spain tend to do well with the ladies. Don't think there is a huge motivation for their ladies to hook up with foreigners.

So what do Romanian chicks look like? I know she's nuts, but is Sandra Romain a common look there? I usually go for a Latin look (whether in the south of the border sense or the Mediterranean sense)- usually dark hair, dark eyes, and curves (she doesn't HAVE to have dark skin, but it doesn't repel). Anywhere around those parts with women that look like that?

That's the look. Hundreds of thousands of them all over the country. But damn, Wolfeye -- I can never unsee the images that came up on my computer when I typed in Sandra Romain to see what she looks like. Talk about hard core. By my lights there are many, many more attractive women than her in Romania, but hers is a very common look there.

And the men here in Ukraine (at least kiev, odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, which are the cities I've been to) are also good looking, though light skinned good looks. Certainly no reason to choose someone like (age 55, bald, but excellent physical condition including the famous six pack, which I developed for health reasons mainly, not to impress women, though not complaining if they are impressed) over a local man other than money. Which is why if I really wanted a woman (and I don't right now, I'm kind of dreading all that fuss and bother in my life right this minute, though that could change on a dime, wht else am I posting so much on HA? LOL), I'd go with a paid mistress situation. But not sure how to arrange that. It's considered rude in all European cultures to openly offer normal women money to be a mistress, though we all know that's what most of them want. In the United States, I've tried seekingarrangement, but almost no girls in Dnipropetrovsk on that site. Escorting is big in Ukraine, but I want a longer term relationship, including the emotional connection. Woman doesn't have to love me deeply, but she does have to have more feeling for me than is possible with typical escorts, and I need feeling for her.

Have you men here ever consider that women might consider a man on an individual basis, rather than based upon nationality. That is, just because a man is of a different nationality, it doesn't mean women of that nationality will not be interested. They might just consider him as a man, rather than considering him as a nationality. It is the man we are talking about, not his nationality. That's like saying if you met a woman in the states, you might reject her because she's Filipino instead of Thai. Well I think the men might consider the girl first and then the nationality second.
Look for women who automatically want to please you because it pleases them. Any woman who seeks to please her man is a treasure. Even better if you don't have to ask but rather suggest.

Of course we consider that, but nationality is usually a dominant factor. If I'm looking for a multi-year girlfriend and I meet a Thai in the US who is here on a 3 month visa, that's a dealbreaker.

A foreigner is at a disadvantage because he misses cultural references, doesn't speak the local language perfectly (or maybe doesn't speak at all) and so misses jokes, etc. Two advantages of being a foreigner: if in a poor country, you can buy your way ahead of the local men, whereas most of us can't buy our way ahead of other men in the US. Also, some women like the idea of limited length affairs, and a foreigner has the great advantage that he will reliably disappear after a few months at most, leaving no messy traces behind (she won't run into him in public, he won't gossip about the woman to other local women, etc). There are also women who fetishize foreigners, but this is an unreliable mental state that can turn on a dime into hatred of foreigners.

gsjackson: Yeah, a lot of her stuff doesn't do it for me (she's got normal stuff, too- but after the whole fucking-her-sister-on-camera thing, I have a hard time even watching that). I was just asking because I remembered she was from Romania & that's the look I think of when I think "Romanian women."

I think in any country you can run into people (men and women) who are rude to you. It's not reserved to foreigners, locals can be unpleasant to each other as well.
Also what you perceive as rudeness in some countries could be simply being direct. We are so used to political correctness living in the west that when someone speaks their mind it may feel "rude".

Elenamodels.com used to have a lot of profiles of Romanian women before the country joined the European Union, even had an office there. In general, there are few complaints about Romanian girls, definitely no things like what they have with paid correspondence (PPL) in Ukraine today. Now and then, we still have Romanian women joining the site, even though they can freely go to European Union and date or work there.

Romanian people are NOT Slavic people. Their culture is NOT similar to others in South-East Europe, like those from Bulgaria or Serbia.
They are different by their behavior, language, customs etc.

In Western Europe the reputation of Romania is rather bad - plenty of criminals, lazy people, impoverished villages etc.

When I was still living in Europe, my experiences with that country were not really so nice. Somehow 50/50. Romanian women are not so much interested into mixing up with foreign men. Enjoy a nice vacation in Romania with an escort, spend some vacation and travel not only to the Black Sea Coast, but also rent a car and drive around inside the country, that's OK, but a nice long-term relationship with a faithful woman from there? Not sure about that, I doubt it...

Very important information....

Generally I was impressed with Romanian women, and found them somewhat comparable to Serbs, though the English of Serbs was much better and they were able to express quite a bit more personality in English. But both countries seem a bit ground down by years of poverty, and in the case of the Serbs, war, and that might have some negative effect on the long-term outlooks of the people.

Any recent experience in Serbia? I am interested in Serbian girls, they seem beautiful and with nice character.

You're right. It shouldn't discourage any man whom is tired of Westernization, LIberalism, et. al. However let me analyze some things: (1) What were you wearing? I heard an distinguished man goes a lot further than a Hip-Hop rogue dresser in most places outside of the Anglosphere. (2) Can you speak Romaninan at least at the basic level in many contexts? If you know Italian, you already know 45 percent of the language cold. (3) Is there paranoia of anybody accosting women at anytime of day in Romanian culture? I'm here in the Amazons in Brazil, and I was bitching and complaining at first because a lot of women are paranoid of people because there has been an insurgence of crime here within the last few years due to the waning countrywide economy. However, I realize that perfection plays alot in order to stand out from the local male whom they may be tired of unfortunately because local men deserve love too regardless if he were an asshole beforehand or still. Just my thoughts - and - questions.

I spent a month and a half in Serbia in 2014. I was impressed with the women I met -- a lot of personality. They won't hesitate to tell you (somewhat indirectly) what a bad actor they think the U.S. government is, but they don't hold it against the individual American.

I wouldn't try to speak any Romanian.

I was dressed down -- jeans, a short sleeve shirt, walking shoes. I take some pains with color, fit, sense of style, even when I dress down, but next time I head over to Europe, I'm going with a dressier look. I've got lots of nice ties I never wear that are going to make the journey with me, along with blazers and a leather jacket, and I'll take every opportunity to wear them.

Certainly the second girl I tried to approach, who wouldn't even look at me, seemed paranoid. Whether that's a general feature of Romanian society, I don't know. The women were all pretty friendly up until the two on that last day I was there, who simply would not speak to me.

If I were you, I would "charge those two to the game". Yes, try the dressier look. I understand that dressier = gringo target to become victimized. That's plausibly-understandable. However, no pain (some pun intended), no gain as the adage goes. Maybe because I'm a large statuesque man whom walks with this head high...that nobody would accost me the wrong way. The worst that happens to me in these foreign countries is laughter (some feel I'm too big to be human LOL) or if the street dogs are territorial and look at me as a threat due to my size and due to not looking like most of the locals.

Ironically, Brazilian street dogs don't f.uck with me. Now in Perú and Chile, sh.it, that's a different story. Better yet, I have stories of almost being mauled by them. Tarapoto in the jungle was my closest "oh f.uck me" story of dealing with street dogs.
