If you're a history buff, love to talk about history and watch the History Channel, this is the board for that.

Yes, I do. He was an admirable and amazing leader who brought his country out of ruin into great strength and prosperity, even if he was misguided.

No, I don't and never have. He was an evil tyrant who spread racist hatred and massacred many innocent Jews and people.

Do most people secretly admire Adolf Hitler?

Post by Winston »

I have a theory. If people really hated someone, they wouldn't talk about him right?

So why then does everyone claim to hate Hitler and see him as the most evil man in history, yet they can't stop talking about him? Hitler is still frequently brought up in the media, used as an example in articles, conversations, debates and is often featured on the History Channel. He is certainly talked about more than Napoleon, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, or even Joseph Stalin. In fact, he is probably the most talked about historical figure in America. No one else is mentioned as frequently as Hitler.

Why is that? Is everyone so fascinated by him that they can't forget him?

I have a hunch. I think that most Americans secretly admire Hitler and even like him. They just won't say so in public because it's taboo to say that. That's why they talk about him so much and reference him a lot.

Somehow, Hitler has a certain magnetism and charisma. He represents a certain strength and unity that doesn't exist in America and that people deep down wish they had, especially since they've been brainwashed to feel weak and worthless inside. He also had a "unifying effect", the ability to unify everyone, in a way that could never be done in America and never has been done. Somehow, people probably admire that and praise him for it deep down inside.

What do you think? Do many or most people secretly admire and like Hitler, but won't dare to admit it? I think it's very plausible.

Let's have an anonymous poll about this. Cast your vote above if you secretly admire Hitler or not. Remember that this poll is ANONYMOUS so no one will know how you voted. That way, you can vote honestly without fearing taboo.

On the face of it, Hitler was the consummate alpha male who achieved a lot of stuff and espoused populist attitudes that most people would agree with if not cowed by political correctness, so it is quite likely that most people admire him.

No dude, I don't eat at buffets anymore. But since I've been back, I've observed a lot of things about Americans that have given me fresh new material for my articles and insights.

Now getting back to Hitler, did you know that no one who actually knew Hitler thought he was evil? The only people who think he's evil are people who've never met him (like you) and only know about him from the Western media.

The truth is, Hitler had his faults. People who knew him would describe him as extreme, fanatical, misguided, and overly cruel to the Jews. This is probably true.

However, the man did not discriminate between the rich and the poor. He helped both, and gave everyone a job, food, and plenty of vacation time. He also kept all his campaign promises, unlike American politicians, and did not put the interests of the elite over everyone else. So he had nobility and integrity. You see, Hitler strongly believed in SOCIAL JUSTICE above all. That's why he was loved by the German people. If he had only served the interests of the wealthy elite, (like in America today) he would not be so loved.

Nazi writer Joseph Goebbels emphasized this in an article about how to be a good dictator:

http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/angrif13.htm

"5. A dictator’s highest duty is social justice. If people sense that the dictator only represents a thin upper class that has nothing to do with them, they will see the dictator as a hateful enemy and quickly overthrown him."

If you learned more about Hitler and what he actually said in his speeches and books, and what people who knew him thought about him, you too would start to admire Hitler. He represented a strength and unity you could NEVER find in America.

Read what the Nazis said here:
http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/

Technically you can't say that Hitler was evil. You see, a truly evil person takes pleasure out of spreading death, destruction and chaos upon innocent people. Nowhere did Hitler ever say that he enjoyed killing innocent people or destroying cities. He said that he was an artist, and that his desire was to CREATE, not destroy. He always maintained that England and America kept provoking him into war, and that he preferred peace. That was always his official stance, which is documented, but which the American media don't want you to know. Instead, they portray him as a cartoon villain, which is stupid because no one in real life is a cartoon villain.

In his mind, Hitler believed that he was doing the right and just thing. When he persecuted the Jews, he believed he was giving them what they deserved. He saw them as evil criminals, not innocent. Of course, the Jews were not 100 percent innocent either. Many of them did do bad things that wrecked the German economy, which American historians do not like to admit because it's a taboo. American historians are afraid to ask why Hitler hated the Jews. But the fact is, the Jews have been kicked out of 79 countries, and innocent people do not get kicked out of that many countries if they did nothing wrong, come on now. Hitler may have been wrong to demonize Jews as a whole, but he NEVER thought he was persecuting innocent people. Thus, you can't say that he was evil. Misguided maybe, but not evil. He clearly had a heart that cared for people and was compassionate. He honestly thought he was doing the right thing.

Someone who's "evil" would be like the villains in Batman or Superman, who are always plotting to take over the world and actually ENJOY spreading death, destruction and chaos. They take pleasure out of harming innocent people. And they wanted to rule the world, even if they have to destroy it first. But Hitler never said that he wanted to rule the world. That is a fictional Hollywood portrayal of Hitler.

For a more balanced portrayal of Hitler and the Nazi party, see the 15 hour 1983 miniseries "The Winds of War" based on the novel by Herman Wouks. It shows the good side of Hitler: his kindness, generosity, quest for peace, and good traits, as well as his negative traits. It is also rich in plot development, story, characters, romance, features the actor who flew Airwolf (Jan Michael Vincent) and has a beautiful romantic musical score for its theme.

IMDB info:

It's up on YouTube now. Here is episode 1, which is over 2 hours:

Leftists are interested in keeping Hitler alive to cover up the monstrous crimes of the Communists. If people would examine the record, they would find that the Communists were more cruel and destructive than any Nazis. Chairman Mao who is admired by academics and ignorant libertards ruthlessly murdered millions and joked in private about the people he tortured. But nobody gets criticized for saying nice things about Mao, Stalin, Castro, and Che Guevera - all of whom committed atrocities. Why do they get a pass? Also Trotsky was just as cruel but didn't get a chance to be in power. The Trotskyites hated Stalin and were the original neocons. Did you know that Trotsky's ex body guard was on Senator scoop Jackson's staff?

I do think Hitler's racial policies were stupid and bound to fail. He saved Germany from the Communists but he should have stopped there. Laws should only penalize people for bad behavior and not who they are. Anything else is retrogressive.

Everyone should read the below book to get the real truth:

The Psychotic Left

Dude, if you have nothing serious or relevant to say about the topic, then don't say anything. Otherwise, you are just wasting space in this thread.

I'm not sure I follow your point. Are you saying that just because they are dead, that they have no credibility? Lots of people in history are dead, but that doesn't mean they aren't credible. So I don't understand your point. That sounds like a cheap irrelevant shot.

Either way, people who actually KNEW Hitler know him a lot better than people like you who never met him, and are therefore more qualified to comment on the real Hitler, than people like you who are fed a cartoon villain image of him through the American media. You understand that right?

Btw, Hitler did not hate Asians. He admired the Japanese and their power. You can see it in his writings.

I don't know if Hitler would be my friend, but at least he would not hate us for not being politically correct.

At least I don't see him as a cartoon villain who wanted to take over the world. The point is, he's been misportrayed and overdemonized. The more you study him, the more you realize that.

This youtube video shows a side to Hitler that Western media and Hollywood doesn't portray. These are real historical video clips.

"After visiting these places, you can easily understand how that within a few years Hitler will emerge from the hatred that surrounds him now as one of the most significant figures who ever lived. He had boundless ambition for his country which rendered him a menace to the peace of the world, but he had a mystery about him in the way that he lived and in the manner of his death that will live and grow after him. He had in him the stuff of which legends are made."
-John F. Kennedy

I think Hitler truly loved his people and loved Germany. He was a soldier who was wounded during WWI, he felt betrayed by the German leadership, he was a failed painter, and he experienced some failures in his life. He defied the odds and rose from obscurity to become the Fuhrer of the Third Reich. Under his leadership Germany prospered and gained a great sense of national pride. He restored the German military might, funded advancements to science, healed the German economy, reduced unemployment from several million to about 300,000-400,000 within a year or two, and Germany was the first to exit the Great Depression. He wanted a homeland for the German people. He wanted to create a great country and even though the facts show that a "superior race" doesn't exist, when a group believes they are a "superior race" it inspires them to a higher standard and it also inspired unity. Portraying him as evil is one-sided. Sometimes people do evil things because they genuinely believe what they do serves a greater good and a higher purpose. A leader does both good things and evil things. Portraying Hitler as the most evil leader in the world or as a completely evil leader is bias and untrue. Hitler did good things for his people and country but he also authorized some evil actions. In recent times more people are questioning the historical bias that is popularized in mainstream history books and taught in schools.

He spoke with passion and genuineness. His charisma came from his heart which is why he was successful.

The video above shows how he loved his dogs, seems to be genuinely peaceful around others, and is good with children. Those are not the signs of a person that is truly evil. Many people who knew him also gave interviews where they only had good things to say about him.

Documentary clips. See the two sides. One is the truth, one is revisionism. Notice some people who personally knew Hitler have tears in their eyes. The American who gives his opinion seems to have expressionless faces devoid of emotion like he is reading a script.

This video contains one of Hitler's speeches with a translation. It's worth a watch:

Most reasonably knowledgable people will tell you that if Hitler had been run over by a bus before 1939 he would have gone down in history as the greatest ever German and would currently be idolized as a socialist hero of the poor as well as being credited with bringing in social security, essentially inventing long distance car travel, founding the environmental movement etc.

Why is Hitler more talked about than any other person in history though? I can't think of any other historical figure who is mentioned as often as Hitler is. Why is that? Why is everyone so fascinated by him that they can't forget him?

I agree Winston. Everyone loves a bad guy, and Hitler is the ultimate bad guy. If women can be obsessed with serial killers and send them love letters, I don't see what's so outlandish about anyone admiring Hitler. If someone who never heard of him watched footage of his speeches (without subtitles) and just footage of him and the german people at the time in general, they would assume that he was a very good and very well organised leader who knew how to get things done. I admire some things about him but a lot of people don't have the intelligence to separate the bad from the good, no matter how many times you spell it out to them. People don't know how to think, or they're afraid to think, so they try to keep everyone else in line. Let's face it, as bad as he was, he was quite a character. To be honest I wouldn't have my dictators any other way. If you're going to do what he did, you may as well be a funny looking guy with a funny moustache. And besides it's good to laugh at people like him, and at least he has made that easy. It's like he knew.

Historical proximity, the winners writing history (in the West) and covering their own tracks, and at least two industries still making money off of his legacy.

If you go to other places in the world, they'll have their own favored super villains.

I'd advise people to read Mein Kampf. Sure it has boring and repetitive parts, but mostly it is a really interesting and perceptive political essay and autobiography, and, if genuine, a window on the character of the guy.

Teal Lantern,
Which two industries are you referring to?

I have some more questions:

Why didn't Hitler just enjoy his life as a dictator without attacking any other countries? I mean, instead of invading Poland, why didn't he just become a playboy and date every hot single woman in Germany? He could order every hot single woman in Germany to date him if he had to.

Wouldn't that have been a far happier and stress-free life than invading Poland and having all that tension and stress with all those other countries? In doing so, he magnified his problems, worries and stresses.

Since everyone in Germany had a job, he could just do whatever he wanted and remained in power and popularity right? So why didn't he just live happily ever after without attacking any other countries?

Besides invading Poland, I think his biggest mistake was in attacking Russia and starting a second front in the war. He should have tried to make Russia an ally instead. Together they would have been invincible.

In fact, there's a new book out I heard, that claims that Britain wanted to tear down Nazi Germany because it feared that if Germany and Russia joined as allies in a pact, they could never be defeated and could easily take over all of Europe, including Britain. Perhaps that's why Britain kept provoking Hitler into war?

I don't get why Germany and Russia couldn't have been allies during WWII. They seemed to have more in common than with the Allies. They were both fascist dictatorships, so they had more in common than they did with Britain or America. So why did Russia side with the Allies instead of Germany?
