Cats are not Prejudiced ( my poem)

Post by ladislav »

In this world, among us all
Prejudices fester-
Some are big and some are small-
Our lives they pester.

Race, religion,age and sex
Get so much attention.
Prejudices, our hex
Thus result in tension

For the ones who're not like some
Fanciful ideal
We've created with our dumb
Minds that want to feel
That our group belongs to one
Chosen category,
And that others we should shun
Or we will be sorry...

So, inspite of all the laws
We've been passing lately,
Prejudices still oppose
Our efforts greatly,

And in dating and at work,
And at social mingles
Prejudice's quiet smirk
Still somehow lingers.

Whil'st people simply can't
Get along completely,
Cats, the humans' long time friends
Live together sweetly.

Sure, they fight for food and mates
And for territory,
But in living and at dates-
It's another story-

They do not the least one bit
Care about the color,
Nationality, or creed
Or if you've got dollar.

See those little kitties play
Black and white, and brown
Orange, purple, spotted, gray;
Fur as soft as down.

Diff'rent colors, diff'rent breeds
Frolicking in rapture;
Chasing insects in the weeds
See what they can capture.

They don't group by colors, tongues
Like us humans do,
They seem all to get along
Just like we could, too.

And when mating time arrives,
Black and white, and grey
Simply follow the drive
Nature sends their way.

And they mingle, mate, and bear
Multicolored kids-
Obviously, they don't care
Much for class or breeds.

If a "foreign" cat appears,
Of another "race",
He or she will have no fears
To be out of place.

He or she will mate and breed,
Hunt and scrounge for food,
In the garbage find his feed,
Then, beget some brood.

No discrimination here,
In the very least-
It does not at all appear
For this little beast.

So, instead of marching, suing
Passing laws and acts,
Watch what our pets are doing,
These "un-racist" cats.
A brain is a terrible thing to wash!
