Explicit new details are emerging about a Monday night shooting in New Albany that was originally reported as a home invasion.
Lisa Shuler, 31, initially told police that she shot the victim, Charles Pierce, 49, because he broke into her home.
Police quickly determined that was not the case.
Authorities said the two knew each other and court documents revealed Shuler invited Pierce over to her home on Wabash Avenue Monday night to play out a rape fantasy.
It's a shocking turn of events for family and friends of the 31-year-old woman.
"I know she's going through horrible things now," said churchgoer Lois Enteman.
It's a sharp contrast to the Lisa Shuler the church congregation knows so well.
"To me Lisa has been a sweet girl," Enteman said.
Lisa Shuler has been a longtime member of the Solid Rock Community Church near Scottsburg.
In fact, it's where she and her husband were married nearly 10 years ago.
