Still, I'm honest with myself I admit it's isolating - a waste of time, sucking in. Computers make you feel like shit, but it's like time warp. You can't stop though you know it's bad for you.
It's so important to take a few days off and unplug. I think this is part of publicduende's problem too, it seems he is spending too much time working, it can get really isolating like you say.
This forum is real bad on that.Eric wrote: Forums are by far the worst thing, and I'm trying to manage that right now. I'm close to just banning myself from it - getting off it completely, this dynamic is not healthy. All these people you see on forums here, not healthy either. Please tell me if I'm wrong... It's incredibly isolating and that is not normal - we keep subjecting ourselves to this rather than have real interactions because on face it's easier, but we know it's wrong. It's the worst thing ever.... Pull yourself out of that habit. It's easier to escape than face life. It's like a drug addiction, it addles life. It pulls you right out of real life into a life of isolation and you stop normal interacting - that becomes normal substitute for you. Don't let it become you.
It seems like you have an IT type job. Most people on internet seem to work in IT. I used to be on a bike forum but it ended up more than 80% of stuff was not bike related. Most members were in IT. It is like wtf why are all bikers working in IT.In reality they are not. Just the ones on forums.
All Internet social stuff is heavily biased towards IT people. And the types of personalities that draws people to IT. Loners and anti-social types. Not people persons.
I'm not in IT nor do I like it. I don't have facejew or any social media but what'sapp. I only post on this forum now. I only do one forum at a time with gaps between forums when I feel there is no growth potential.
I use computers for data analysis, drawings and reports and have written some specialist software because I needed it, not to make a living. So computers are not my main social scene.
Sometimes it seems I am one of the few that have a life outside: hobbies, mates I go for drinks with, braais, women and sex and going out to shows, meals and camping etc. I dont understanf incel as i have never had to go without. I must admit I like alone time and solo riding though. In real life I find IT types a bit nerdy with no real interest in physical things, except IT bikers. not really my kind of people. My real bike mates, not one is in IT. Computers are not my way to meet people as I am not a computer person and more a real world doing things type.
If i want to socialise I don't log on, I used to go to men places like the police canteen ( no more because it is no longer white only), or get on my bike to go to a biker place. I will always know people there. There may be the odd black but they will be black bikers so welcome.
So I don't think forums are the issue. More the personality types that are drawn to IT for work and for social as well. For such people the chasm to the real world is larger.
It is hard to change your personality. But if people don't make you happy why mix with them? Why beat yourself up over it? Accept that is your personality and find what makes you happy. If you are not happy find what is missing. Women are not hard to find but they don't make you happy. You have to already be happy to be happy with a woman.
