When I go out to eat, servers and bartenders that are friends get the lion's share of my tips. Stranger servers and bartenders get the mouse's share, unless they are female and super attractive (skinny to average build, big boobs, or if she has a few curves that I like). Servers also get very sparse tips from me when they are morbidly obese or when they look to be about 75 years old and older.

I usually don't go out and eat inside the restuarant unless it's an "All you can eat buffet" with couple of my collegues or acquistances for special occasions. I only order "pick ups" or "to go" even for a diner, Apple Bees, TGI Fridays, etc. That way, I don't have to pay for any tips because they haven't served me any food. I only pay for the food and sales tax, not one cent on tips. They probably hate me for that, but I don't really care. I'm saving 10% -15% of my money on food.
