Italy giving away FREE houses and/or PAYING YOU to live there! Wow!

Post by Winston »

Wow check this out guys. This beautiful lovely town in Italy needs more residents and will PAY you to move there! What a deal. See below.

https://truththeory.com/2017/10/29/want ... -pay-move/

Sounds like a great offer and lovely place. But if people left it there must have been a reason right?

Here is publicduendes take on the offer above. He said i could post it.

Publicduende:

"Yes, I think it's legit, but there is a huge catch. You need to show them your intention to be a permanent resident to qualify for the bonus. That area is one of Apulia's most depressed, there is literally nothing there to do. Even making the 625 EUR a month (7,500 a year) required to qualify would be a problem, unless obviously you have a steady passive income or one from working online. And how fast an ADSL connection can be over there, it remains to be seen.

The article says the town is one hour drive from "pristine beach", which might be true, but then begs the question. For a paltry 1,000 EUR, what's the point with living in Candela when there are far livelier and more bustling cities that also have lovely beachfronts and beaches nearby? Trani, Bisceglie, or Molfetta. This last is "Apulia's IT capital".

All in all, mind the "Eurobrat effect"...being in a small town might be heaven for an old couple who just wants to have a few lovely people taking care of them and showing some courtesy. For a young man who wants to get some action...not too sure!"

Next reply from publicduende:

"The romantic lure of Italy, especially provincial Italy, is a stereotype hard to die. Yet, a stereotype it is.

In the deep province you will find people who are friendly to you only as long as you conform with their ideas and their lifestyle. Como is an area of Lombardy that is famous for extremely industrious and hard working people who stick to their own, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for less good ones (e.g. closed-mindedness).

As it is, Italy is a sick, dying society. Why are young people so keen to leave and go abroad, or migrate to larger cities? Because they hope to find a decent job and, with a decent job, attain just about enough financial stability to get married or live decently: buy some stuff, travel, maybe pay a mortgage etc.

Moving to a small town in Italy, no matter how steeped in heritage and picturesque, is almost social suicide and certainly is one of the worst idea if the objective is to date a local young woman. They won't care, unless they have a fetish for that particular ethnic/cultural type (e.g. you're an Asian who speaks good English and a navigated one, you might find the odd "outlier")."

When you say italy is a dying country, do you mean economically, morally or spiritually?

So regular girls in italy won't date me or make friends with me? My only chance is if some oddball girl with a fetish for asian men suddenly shows up and likes me? Lol.

Do italian women make eye contact with men comfortably, like eastern euro women do?

If i lived in small town italy, would all my neighbors invite me over for dinner and be social with me, and introduce me to their lovely daughters after they ask if im still single? Lol. Like what would happen in the movies? Lol

It's not about him specifically...I don't want to give false expectations about Italy. The years of American men being treated like descended gods by cute teenagers in rural towns have gone. That's WW2 stuff, if it ever happened :-)

In every sense.

It depends on age. You might be able to find the intellectual type who can engage with you in deep conversations, good wine and perhaps some "sympathy sex" (mind connection-> physical connection). But you have to be prepared, most of those women are far from good looking and in shape. Oh well, at least they are interesting to talk to and their level of English is probably good to very good!

From what my youngest cousins tell me when I sporadically meet them over Christmas, the average 20-something Italian girls are just as shallow, closed-minded, materialistic and bitchy as the ones in America. It's all selfies and stupid dreams of easy success by marrying a footballer, nowadays. Of course the "good un's" can still be found, but they are more and more rare and have to be courted properly, in a "social circle", or the rare solitary vacation. My cousin's gf is a great girl: gorgeous, very smart (an engineer, like him) and with a big moral backbone. Yet, it's people approaching their 30s we are talking about. Go down 5/10 years and the music changes substantially...and not just in Italy.

Call it global(ist) lobotomy, it's a sharp axe that fell on an entire generation of Westerners. I have been incredibly lucky to have a gf here in the Philippines. That's material for another post or PM...but let's just say she is 23 but with the maturity of a 33...and the looks of a teenager :-)

They do, but their touchy-feely attitude mustn't be mistaken as them being easy. You can easily kiss them on both cheeks and hug them, especially when meeting them and parting from them (the double cheek is an Italian tradition), but that doesn't mean they will easily go to bed with you. Quite the opposite LOL

They would very well invite you to dinner and even joke about you being single. As for introducing you their cute daughters...hmm wrong country sorry! :-)

Wonder if there's a way around the income thing? Maybe making a donation? I would want a job there, but I don't know- would there be something in that place? Manual labor or restaurant stuff would be my guess.

No doubts stereotypes are hard to die.

I'd like to add that in Italy the government or local public administration plays always like the Casino table... in the end it always gets more money than what it pays.

First of all the government and public administration in general take all the time they like to issue the due amount they have to pay.

It's quite usual that public administrations pay the received goods and services after 3 or four months. Many companies had been brought to bankruptcy due to huge delay on receiving the due payment by their public administration customer.

So, the 800 Euros (about 930 usd, one time only payment) promised by such local public administration to new "single" residents it's not known when in fact will be issued. On the other hand the Italian public administration is very strict when it's about tax payments and even the slightest delay is fined sometime with fines which are greater than the due amount that has late paid.

Some taxes are required to be paid "in advance" before the citizen will actually receive the related service or the related income on what such taxes are computed.

Therefore it's VERY LIKELY that the alleged "gift" of the said village local administration to new residents it's indeed equal if not less of the amount of taxes that the new resident will be required to pay every year.

And it make sense because obviously the reason for such promotional initiative aimed to attract new residents, it's to increase the local administration tax revenue.

Or do you think that in Italy Santa Claus works for free in the small villages public administration?

LOL

That's absolutely true. There might be a civic/ethical angle at the idea of repopulating cities of some historical heritage (most town in Italy are), but the endgame is to collect more taxes, most of which "might" not exactly end up spent in useful services for the community.

Having said this, it is a sad reality, that lots of small towns and villages would offer a fantastic lifestyle for old and young men alike...if only decent jobs were available.

Interesting comments.

So what if a man or couple thats retired moves to an italian town? Or a guy with online income? Would they still be required to pay taxes to italy? If so how? That town candela knows that such an offer might attract retirees right? How would the italian government make money from them?

Also do most foreign tourists like Italy? I'm talking about tourists who are brutally honest and will call a spade a spade. Not the lonely planet and couchsurfing crowd that always says "Everything is great. People are very friendly here." everywhere they go, just to sound positive and not offend anyone. I'm talking about those attuned to truth, not political correctness. What do they say about Italy usually?

Actually, the tax situation isn't as bad as HAL9000 puts it. Yes there are some City Hall taxes to pay to cover the basic public services, but they have long since been grouped into a single tax, called IUC. The Italian government won't make much money out of tourists...the basic infrastructure costs (like museums, public transport etc.) are quite modest. It's the private restaurants, hotels and resorts that make the killing!

The question is: if a sleepy town like Candela could not attract their own young, what makes you think it will have something compelling for a young foreigner? Eurobrat lived in Como, which is far bigger than the sleepy town as per OP, and yet found its lifestyle almost unbearable after a few months. Retirees are a different category of people altogether...they will enjoy the occasional walk or day trip in the neighbourhood, but certainly they will be more tuned to the peaceful and uneventful life they will find there.

Do foreign tourists like Italy? I guess they still do...the food is always amazing, the scenery often is, too, and the people can be quite friendly, of course if one is not expecting to integrate overnight. Yet, I have a feeling the real lifestyle destinations in Europe are definitely not in Italy. Think Barcelona, think Prague, or new entries like Wroclaw (Poland's cultural capital), Tallinn and some others.

Wow see the image of the town of Candela perched on a hill below. Looks like a cozy town. I love walking around cobblestone streets. It feels so cozy and usually people in such towns are very friendly.

On our Facebook group, ladislav explained why Italy is not a good place for men.

Ladislav:

"Ok, 1) its full of incredibly handsome model quality men who dress like gigolos and are always on the make. The women are scared and spoiled. All have lots of suitors. 2) With very few exceptions, Italian women are not interested in foreigners. 3) There are more handsome men than beautiful women. The men are so horny, they'll f**k anything that moves, and chase even the ugliest and the fattest. 4) Not many people speak English. Its a place women go to to find BF's , not vice versa."

@publicduende do you agree?

The reason is simple. While those Italian towns might be picturesque on the surface, they have poor economies and don't have much going on.

Most people don't want to live in a small town with few opportunities for advancement and little to do. They would rather move to a city where there are better salaries, more young people to date, and a greater variety of activities.

I know some picturesque little towns in Valencia, Spain. The scenery is heavenly with vineyards that extend for miles and mountains that sour in the distance and the towns themselves have beautiful historical buildings and charming little bars and restaurants where you can leisurely eat traditional Valencian cuisine such as paella and drink wine. However, that's all you can do really. Such an idyllic lifestyle may seem nice at first but then it gets old really quick and even starts to infantilize you after a while. Humans need varied stimulation and challenges in order to grow. For that you often need to move to the city.

Not all cities are bad. US and UK cities are usually quite awful and soulless and so I can understand why people would want to leave and move to a quiet town, but Continental European cities such as Valencia are often very soulful and make good places to live.

Nice European cities are better than quiet towns but quiet towns are better than awful soulless cities.
