It's more to retain access than prevent devaluation. It prevents being helpless under the cash withdrawal limits.

Well, inflation is eating at everyone's savings, 401k plans and disposable income.

"Saving money" is an obselete idea.

I'm afraid that it's not just Americans who are brainwashed into saving their currency.
