Germany already did that too? And Venezuela too? Is this kind of a high-level "bank run" - by sovereign players, exiting the trans-national/imperial bank(s)?

Here in the US yes but overseas it's really hard to say who is truly trying to break away, the original plan by the core rulers who are putting this system together is a Chinese gold backed Yuan next. Jester you really should read " The Coming Battle " written in 1899 so you will realize how dumb we are. They have been using this play book for centuries and get away with from the uneducated masses.

How do they determine the price? Are any of these old coins with dollar amounts on them?

It would be cool if I could go to a convenience store in OK with a $20, buy a candybar, and walk out with a pocket full of gold coins. :)

Currently, 1 ounce American silver coins are marked as $1. One ounce American gold coins are marked as $50.
In practice, you'd get more candy bars or whatever a the silver dollar than for a paper dollar.

Just before a major war countries start to repatriate their gold and some even move it off shore for safe keeping. In fact, the main purpose of any war is for one country to steal another countries gold. During WW II Japan moved all its gold to the Philippines. Before China's cultural revolution China moved their gold from Chengdu to Taiwan. However, this is the first time I've heard of a US state asking for its gold back. No doubt Texas will be the center of a major conflict soon as the Jade Helm map clearly shows.
