Thanks for confirming what I suspected. When you have plenty of money and things are going well, Thailand could be a great playground. But if you get in trouble, you're going to experience that harsh reality, in my view.

I was there 3-4 times and from my experience they are the friendliest people you can meet(land of smile), as in no ice barrier, no bitch shield n its really easy to score for average joe. They live in the moment, no future nor past...I dont know if they are ok for long term but its hard to imagine that they can be worse then western women..nobody is perfect but sayin thailand is bad place to find women is the same as sayin everywhere sucks!!I like thai women better then philipino or viet coz they have bigger bodies n 100 times friendlier and easier going then viet chiks...Thailand is the most popular destination for sex seekers and thats for a reason

well that does not surprise me, the love of money is the root of all evil .. there is no way that a society where people love money like a God could have good minded people NO WAY .. if i go to thailand it will be for business. i won't touch any woman even if she approaches me..

Whilst most of you guys on this thread have valid, good points, I feel that due to it's cheapness for most things, even for food and getting ass (i.e. whoremongering), it's worth putting up with T/hailand.

However, if Thailand were to become expensive like the Anglosphere, then Thailand will not be revisted - ever....although it's one of my favorite countries for food ever!

Some men also delude themselves and forget that to be twice the age of their sweetheart is not a good start to build a long term relationship who is not only about money.

Anyway,i think it's always better for a pensioner to have a nice looking young Thai girl who is there for the money and can take care good of him,than to die in loneliness in western lands.

I just would say that Thailand is a great place to go having sex around,go to p4p places but to build a long term relationship,one should be more cautious.

Thai lady are very practical..they can give you the best in sex and affection,but things can disappear as soon as it has come.
Relation are very casual and free.

Their mind are totaly different in what we know here in our countries.

I can say also,that in general,Thai ladies are very sexual in their way of being,they act feminine,like to be looked and desired by men,and a regular western guy,better young,would have no problem to enjoy his days there.

There is no comparison possible between how western women are educated regarding men,and how Thai ladies are.
Even,i knew some Thai couples and far away,Thai women are hard working and know how to take care of a men.

If you understood Thai and could read the people, your would realize that you are constantly being insulted and slurred wherever you go there. As for lots of local girls being interested in you romantically, Lad has never explained that implicit contradiction (being attracted to you even though they bitterly can't stand you). Cus that tends to be the experience of many decent looking westerners in Thailand these days I think. If you're curious enough, you can ask him about that.

Well green, Lad has a very hard head when it comes to his belief system about Thailand - great for Asians but a living hell for westerners. He spent a few years there about 20 years ago and picked-up fluent Thai according to his own account. Back then, he was late 20s/early 30s so not that old but also not young. These days, Thailand is full of late teens/early 20s westerners, especially in certain party spots. So perhaps its better for them? Anyway, he will deny that it can be good for about any westerner who decides to stay long term and who does not have a lot of money and/or the ability to be insulated in an expat bubble from local society.

Personally, I tend to agree more with your version and do know a several westerners who are happy there including some Thai speakers. I also know western guys who have a lot of experience both there and PI and who strongly prefer Thailand. So experiences do vary tremendously from person to person.

Well Rock, i understand that things probably were different 20 years ago..surely they weren't so many westerners and also i know that to live there for a long time, has many differences than to go there just for a short time.

Some aspects of Thai life aren't positive for me but the overall girlfriends possibility,the food,the party mentality of Thailand,make me inclined to take the good side of Thailand and out weight the bad.

I wouldn't talk about all my nice encounters of the opposite sex,either p4p or not..but i can just say that they were very pleasant most of the time.

There is also this part of Thailand, stronger in the poor countryside,were they expect that the foreigner have the wallet full and open.

That's a reality..better to know but this doesn't stopped me to meet nice ladies who weren't about the money because we have connected well.

Thailand creates amazing illusions to western men, its surreal. If you take it in short bursts, its amazing. But it can be like a venus fly trap to so many guys, so easy to get sucked-in. If you're a working stiff in the west, its so tempting to leave everything for permanent paradise there - teach English, open a bar, do some online trading, go into business, etc. But...this planet is earth, not heaven. The longer you stay and the deeper you get involved, the more you realize the ugly underbelly of it all. In my mind, Thailand is very sweet and very sour. It is anything but boring. It will give you an emotional roller coaster. You can be a rock star one day an d a pariah the next. Don't even try to apply logic to the experiences it gives you because its just not a left brained kind of place. Just go with the flow but when you sense a tsunami coming, get out of dodge before its too late.

The book was originally put together as a very humorous and tongue in cheek guide for the first time visitors to Thailand and met with such success and popularity, that the author continued the series with several others which also became extremely popular.

I too tried to find the books on Amazon but found that they are now only available from the money number one web site as PDF's or from book shops in Thailand itself as they were constantly being sold out.

I've read them all at least twice and still find myself in fits of laughter each time and would highly recommend them to anyone (male, female, single or attached) contemplating a visit to Thailand. There's some interesting reading on the site itself as well.

To apply totally our logic to Thailand and how to deal with everyday life or relationship,the guy could get really lost fast.
It's like a roller coaster it's true.

I can't count how some reactions from my numerous girlfriends where totally weird for me but i understand quit fast to have the mai pen rai(take easy) attitude and move to another girl if something was too negative.
Everything can go so fast.

I will never open any business in Thailand.
I even think it's crazy to do that, many westerners loose everything and the paradise become the hell.

Not everybody is suited for Thailand and Thai ladies.

I've learned a lot in my various trip..i've have still a lot to learn.

This country fit me well because i'm not the type of guy who looked to have a "one wife"life..so to f**k around is right for me in Thailand.

Anyway,i will never invest any sort of money in Thailand.
To easy to end up with nothing.

I just work in France..hopefully soon i will have the income to go to Thailand at least 5 months per year and improving my knowledge.

Also,i'm open to discover Laos or Cambodia too.

I haven't given much thought about Thailand, but after reading through some of these posts, it definitely seems like a take it or leave it proposition. I do not see myself living there, for sure. Don't feel any kind of resonance, connection or interest in residing there.

Right now in my life, at 26, being a sterile male (not by choice either), I am still 50/50 between girlfriend->wife or lifetime playboy. Both of them have their appeals to me. Thailand may be a good fit if I decide the latter.
