The reason why I ask this is that. A fair number of expats if not the majority of expats go over seas for p4p action. From my travel in Thailand most of the expats I saw are there just to screw around and they do corrupt the place. At the same time there are expats that want to go somewhere that is innocent or free from western influence.

Guess what? Any place over seas that has a high number of expats living there does have a western influence. On top of that the local girls might of been innocent at one point but because expats go there and basically sleep around and become playboy. It turns the girls into something else. The girls themselves learn to play the game and use guys.

I mean I think if you talk to expats that lived in a foreign country a long time . They will tell you how the scene changed. Some of it just happened but some of these expats will blame it on western influence through the media. I kind of agree but I also think it's because you have more and more expats going there and visiting that country. I heard from one expat that Thailand ..about 20 years ago the girls were allot more innocent and would of done anything but today it's a different story. Today some of these Thai girls will scam you.

But I think it's because through out the 20 years expats there has been a steady increase of westerns going to Thailand or any of these other countries and make it their play ground. What do you think will happen? it gets used and have negative influence. I mean I have admit ...most of the expats I met overseas are ...for the lack of better description ... scum bags.

So...there been talk that some places are over run by expats and ruined the scene. So some expats are trying to find virgin grounds to pop that cherry and use and abuse. Wondering if others would say the same?

True by and large. I've seen plenty in Latin America and Asia over the years...and the majority fit your description.
A few marry in, become semi-locals...you are not likely to meet them in bars, but more likely see them picking up their kids from school...
their concerns are such things as schooling, medical care, housing, and all the usual concerns of life that many of the locals share.
Often these same people are involved with local charities and other organizations. They are pretty much invisible to the expats you
describe above, and in fact tend to avoid those like the plague.

I agree. When I was in Thailand, I stayed in a middle class gated community well outside the expat orbit, and saw an older European looking man walking his wife to the van every morning to see her off to work. The older men seem to fit it and everything seemed normal - no raised eyebrows.

Its a complicated issue. For example, I'm not sure Thailand was so foreign friendly or innocent 20 years ago. Just ask Lad to see what I mean. Today, its probably a lot easier for foreigners to at least hook-up with some regular Thai girls than it was then. All kinds of niche groups which didn't exist much then have emerged, a byproduct of having become so cosmopolitan. These significant sized groups are what make it possible for certain western guys to have a great time in Thailand like they couldn't so much do 20 or more years ago.

Why is it wherever you go and no matter what era, the old timers seem to hark about how great things used to be? Could it be that things get tougher for them as they get older and more jaded/cynical and they just assume the same is happening for everyone else. Just a possibility.

If you wanna avoid a lot of expats or at least those who go to a country for girls, all you have to do is choose carefully. Avoid the usual suspects. Go for places where expats go mainly for work or where the ones who go tend to localize or places where they tend not to go at all.

Thailand is at least on its 3rd generation of having a mainstream p4p scene. Even prior to the Vietnam War there was a p4p scene in Thailand but it consisted mostly of brothel and "tea" houses. One of the expats I know who has a Thai wife has been living here since the late 70's. He showed me a few pictures of him standing beside unpaved side streets in Bangkok close to landmark locations. There were natural canals running everywhere too. He told me once that the women have certainly changed their appearance as far as grooming but the culture itself is still similar aside from materialism and some western mannerisms. However, if you search for footage shot of Bangkok night life back in the 80's you can see that it was probably even shadier back then with more illicit activity going with drugs and underage p4p. Thailand has always had this underbelly.

Thailand's progress has been in slow motion compared with NE asian nations though. I think the biggest changes probably come from the penetration of western media. The biggest limiting factor to total "westernization" is the low level of education and English ability. This older Thai Lady told me that they were listening to Elvis back then too. I see a lot of Thai women these days who try to mimic the western girl attitude they see on tv and music videos. However, I don't think their english or ideological foundation is sharp enough to understand what feminism is about or what they are seeing.

I also see a lot of younger foreign western and asian guys in nightclubs than even 5 years ago. I think that will all change the attitudes substantially. Not to mention that as the west is sliding downhill economically Asia is reaching a sort of balance with the west if not parity. I imagine these global economic effects will change the status quo considerably in the next 50 years.

That was a bit long winded but I don't feel Thais are "more" corrupted based on what i've heard. I think it's just the natural change from global economics more than anything.

What changed everything was the Internet. Now you have expectations after pages and pages of "research" that you didn't used to have. Now I know where to go, how much it will cost, etc. You really have to work now to stray from the "beaten path" because there's probably an article out about your hole-in-the-wall place you think you discovered.
